2012 was already caught in the general guideline of shape variety being by then elevated to a rigid mandatory rule by character designers. I like how the 2003 turtles manage to express individuality without hitting you in the head with it.
To be fair, 2012 went a little less overboard with it than 2018
I like how in the old beat 'em ups you could switch the turtles colors to "manga" mode (which was mislabeled since it didn't really correspond to the original comic coloring but to the toy line) resulting in basically a crossover between the 87 cartoon turtles and the modern iterations.
Can anybody confirm whether the 2k3 series was the first official usage of those colors in animated form?
>that's why we'll make everything super graphic and colorful and focus on continuity and character development
Even if you somehow consider similarities to another thing as valid criticism, there must be a number of less stupid comparisons anon
>bishop, hun, battle nexus and other oc aside from Shredder being alien/demon/digital shit
Based >lazy ass adaptation of mirage content, Shredder being just an edgy Krang with no technodrome or a shitty demon or a shitty digital copy
CRINGE
The whole "teenage" part is supposed to parody all the teenage superheroes at the time. Their ages didn't mean shit as long as they were turtles that were mutant ninjas,
The sheer unmitigated homosexualry of those movements is wondrous to behold.
Makes the flouncing gay characters of 90's/00's movies look positively butch.
Saw a review in the paper today that said there was never a good Ninja Turtles movie until this one because they were shitty characters that needed a fresh reinvention and in the same breath said it was great for copying Spider-Verse
That's just the basic cancer at heart of modern "criticism", as there's increasingly less and less ability to articulate judgement on anything except by calling it "better" or "worse" than something else.
There's so little assertiveness and critical thinking involved beyond the simplistic and shallow combative nature of the x-is-better-than-y rhetoric, that even originality must be determined by similarity to a established template of originality, despite that logic collapsing unto itself for anybody with half a brain.
Honest question from an outsider. Why are (American specifically) teens basically pre-teens now? It's as if they're degrading like a real life flanderization.
I give mutant mayhem a plus for actually making them look like teenagers
In every other iteration they've felt like adults if you ignore the title of the show. The most childish they get is the Cowabunga thing but adults say that shit too
If I could write a sequel for this movie, it would go like this:
After being accepted into society, the turtles are enjoying their fame and popularity as the first mutant citizens of New York. The turtles have also made a new friend in fellow student and hockey player Casey Jones. Leonardo also begins taking classes in a small karate school run by a man named Mr. Nezumi.
Suddenly Foot Clan soldiers appear in the school and try to kidnap the turtles, as Cynthia Utrom has hired the Shredder to capture them. They retreat back to the lair, only to be betrayed by Bebop and Rocksteady who were offered enormous sums of money by the Shredder and become his new henchmen. Splinter fights to defend his sons from the Shredder, but unfortunately he’s no match for the clan master and is easily taken down and even killed.
Devastated and desperate, the turtles retreat to April’s apartment and live with her for a while. Knowing that the Foot Clan is actively looking for them, they are forced to go back into hiding and never go back to school, not knowing who to trust anymore after being betrayed by their “so-called” friends. Then Leonardo learns that Mr. Nezumi’s real name is Hamato Yoshi, who has a history with the Shredder. It turns out that Yoshi and Shredder, or Oroku Saki, were bitter rivals in Japan and even competed for the love of Tang Shen, but she ended up choosing Yoshi. They both moved to America to begin a new life, but one day Yoshi returned home to find Shen dead and her murderer, Saki, waiting for him. They had an intense battle with Yoshi barely making it out alive, and he decides to rename himself Mr. Nezumi (which is Japanese for “rat” by the way) to avoid being found by Saki again.
Yoshi decides to teach the now orphaned turtles real martial arts the old fashioned and natural way so that they could avenge both Tang Shen and Splinter. The turtles become stronger and even look more like their traditional selves with Donnie ditching his glasses and Raph his head cover. With new looks and new skills, they confront the Foot Clan, with April and Casey Jones helping out, and end up having the famous rooftop battle with Shredder. Though they have been taught well in ninjutsu, they are still no match for the more experienced ninja master, but Yoshi suddenly appears and helps them defeat their foe. Like in the comics, Shredder tries to take them all out with a grenade, but Donnie knocks him off the rooftop with his staff and Shredder dies after the grenade goes off as he falls, thus Donnie no longer gripes about having “a stick” as a weapon.
Yoshi decides to take the turtles into his home and adopts them as his sons. Though the Shredder is dead, his successor Karai vows revenge for her master. The turtles know that they could never be out in the open again as they had dreamed with the Foot looking for them, but they accept that and continue to work in the shadows
I needed to kill some time and saw this movie on a whim since it was the next thing playing when I got to the theater. I'm not really a big fan of the franchise since I've only watched the 2003 series. I really liked this one though. I especially liked the soundtrack. De la soul, Hugh Masekela, A Tribe Called Quest, this soundtrack was made for me. I know Cinemaphile and Cinemaphile probably hates it because April is black though.
Straight up
Bro, fr fr nocap
Ironic considering the vast majority of you losers here are just as addicted to this place with content equally stupid.
So true

If I wanted crust, I'd get a pizza for dinner.
Wtf is Mikey doing

I'm sure they'd have made them generationally-entrenched manchild turtles if they wanted that audience op
2012 remain best turtles
Good joke

Our HEROES
They are look too much alike. I think 2012 hit the right balance between having them look like brothers while still having unique physical qualities.
2012 was already caught in the general guideline of shape variety being by then elevated to a rigid mandatory rule by character designers. I like how the 2003 turtles manage to express individuality without hitting you in the head with it.

"Manga"mode also removed their visible pupils, which was a nice touch
Geezer obsessed with TMNT, yes it was. Though 2K3 Raphael was changed from the toy’s light green to a deeper emerald than Mikey.
Frick OFF. They were perfect.
The only TMNT thing I was genuinely into.
>They are look too much alike.
They're turtles.
samefacetles
Sameface turtles has never been a design flaw. Different shapes for the sake of different shapes is gay.
Best Splinter no doubt
A bunch of loser who never killed any major villains.

POV: You've never met teenagers before
I've never met a giant mutant turtle who knows ninjitsu either
Is this one of those chimpouts I've heard so much about?
CAMRIPS OUT. IGNORE buttholeS WHO ARE JUST TRYING TO GET ATTENTION AND YOU'S.
No. Go see worldstar.
Where are the camrips then moron?
Not in front of the movie marketing interns. If your kung fu isn't good enough just wait until the gambling websites have their versions out.
You are old.
You are out of touch with the younger people.
You will die.
Damn I wish I was young and literally the center of the universe so it wouldn't let me die
>teenage characters acting like teenagers
What's the problem with this again?
>Zoomers acting like zoomers
FIFY
that's what current teenagers are
The whole "teenage" part is supposed to parody all the teenage superheroes at the time. Their ages didn't mean shit as long as they were turtles that were mutant ninjas,
2012 are the better "teenage" turtles, this movie's version is just a parody of millennials and zoomers by a gen X gay.
The sheer unmitigated homosexualry of those movements is wondrous to behold.
Makes the flouncing gay characters of 90's/00's movies look positively butch.
Coincidentally you sound like the unfortunate biological side product of somebody trying to "mitigate" their homosexualry
>smart person words
Off yourself
Your time has passed, grandpa. All you can do is wait for death now
