95% on rotten tomatoes, what's the catch? Is it anti white or pro trannies?
Chud's law
No, I don't watch evil child abuse filth.
>Best movie I've seen in a while.
Then you should have a nice day you e-girl hating scum
>95% on rotten tomatoes, what's the catch?
I guess the people on RT hate e-girls
>Is it anti white or pro trannies?
It is an advertisement for smoking that promotes child abuse and they hurt a little girl making it
meds
>if you don't love child abuse you're insane
Frick off
have a nice day
>I thought it was an average film
It is NOT a film. It is just child abuse and advertising
Neither amazingly. Written and directed by a woman. But it was great. One of the best portrayals of depression I've seen in recent memory, not just in the main guy's performance, which was perfect, but tonally as well. The girl is cute, acts well enough, and has really good chemistry with the guy as her father. It's strong throughout and doesn't cop out at the end.
Looks like it was an autobiographical and very personal movie, so I wouldn't be surprised if the girl that made it doesn't end up making more great movies, but doesn't change the fact that this one is among the best movies I've seen recently. I'd be hard pressed to find real complaints I have with it. The last scene with them together dancing probably could've been way more heavy-hitting if they'd just played it straight instead of going for the recurring metaphor thing, but I understand what the director was going for.
Yeah the end was great.
Where was the child abuse? I don't understand
Written and directed by a woman
>xx% on rotten tomatoes
doesnt matter much, imdb is more accurate for kino. The flick is good by itself, it's just hard to watch such accurately portrayed depression. The whole setting isn't depressing and should be more happy, yet mc cannot overcome his depression. The adult daughter scenes are kinda shit though, and could've been shorter.
Yeah every time they had the flickering shit I just thought "yeah ok I get it"
chud number 1. Chud number is defined as the number of posts before first /misc/ post is posted
do chuds live rent free in your head the same way trannies live rent free in chuds' heads?
>first post
>trannies out of nowhere
I'm so fricking sick and tired of this board.
>for men
It should say ‘for chuds’
It was never different. What's more, they have a good reason to be weary of film producers and our corporate overlords cramming shit down our throats in an attempt to artificially engineer our beliefs
White man commits suicide, white girl becomes a degenerate
That ending scene got me. I thought it was an average film up until that point. Then all the feels when I realized what was going on.
It's great. My one main complaint, and maybe it's just because the scenes in the past are just so well acted in comparison, but the scenes in the present feel sort of poorly acted IMO. Even with that said, it skill sky rocketed up to near the top of my favorite movie list, I'm a sucker for dad/daughter relationship drama.
Yeah that's a good point, didn't really realize that until you said it but I felt it too. Wasn't a huge fan of the strobe light dancing thing either
I wouldn't watch this movie. I would just kill myself. And that's what no one did.
>chuds be like: omg she abandoned me, I'm gonna kms
If you're this weak it's why women don't love you
You're made about this movie because he smoked in the presence of a child? Not sure I trust the judgment of somebody that calls girls "e-girls," on matters of child abuse. You sound like you're one step removed from being eligible for lifelong registry as a sex offender.
>You're made about this movie because he smoked in the presence of a child?
Yes, any moral person would be mad about child abuse. Why are you not mad about it?
>Not sure I trust the judgment of somebody that calls girls "e-girls," on matters of child abuse
Sex within a proper relationship is good.
have a nice day e-girl hater.
Nevermind the one step removed part, have a nice day and make the world a better place
>Sex within a proper relationship is good.
Reported to the FBI, enjoy being The victim of state sanctioned gang murder in prison
I stopped caring about the human experience now that things are the way they are. Now I just walk around with my head down.
>I stopped caring about the human experience now that things are the way they are.
What did he mean by this? I don't understand
I also think it's pretty much a masterpiece. It's one of the comfiest and most nostalgic films I've seen in a long time but yea it's very depressing
>The smoking
You do know they don't use real cigarettes in these productiona right? It's herbal cigs
>You do know they don't use real cigarettes in these productiona right?
YES, they do. Stop spreading this lie.
>It's herbal cigs
And that makes it okay? It's still a real cigarette he really smoked around a real little girl. Oh, but the advertising israelites said it's okay so it's totally okay.
it's been a while since I seen it and I still think about the rug scene a lot, it's a decent flick
For me it's when he's dancing with his daughter in their room and he talks about how he doesn't feel like he belongs in Edinburgh
The cinematography is very good. I was disappointed but not surprised that the director turned out to be a lesbian but most mid women with daddy issues are.
It worked out for her. The movie wouldn't have been nearly as great if her daddy issues weren't genuine. And now she's given the world a movie that goes far beyond the mere experience of a lesbian with daddy issues. Weird how that works out.
Unfortunately it also makes me doubt she'll be able to match this success in the future unless she keeps retreading the same material
Best movie of the 2020s so far. Human in a way few movies manage to be. It's a moving portrait of a man that wants very deeply to fulfill his duties as a father despite crippingly depression and suicidality. I shed tears. You'd be gay if you didn't. This movie should resonate well with most anons.
>Best movie of the 2020s so far
It is NOT a movie, it is an advertisement.
>This movie should resonate well with most anons.
You think most of us are evil scum like you? You'd have to be extremely evil to watch this filth
what's your problem bro?
Hating child abuse is a problem to you? The evil scum who watched this "movie" have a problem, they hate little girls
have a nice day
Why was he crying?
This scene had me fricking holding my breath
Probably drank too much
>dad keeps doing stuff that risks his life and I relate to it
>find out that clinically depressed people do that
What did he do? I just remember him running into the ocean at night one time.
I cried at The Whale. Aftersun just makes me sad. I think it captures the feeling of losing a parent better.
Standing on the balcony's fence and walking in front of vehicles
I loved Aftersun but The Whale was a miss for me. It feels like that director has made the exact same ending three times now
I know the Whale was very similar to the Wrestler. What was the third movie?
Black Swan but to a lesser extent. That one is more ambiguous whether she dies or not
have a nice day
>Aftersun just makes me sad.
It should make you mad because they abused a little girl making it. You're fine with child abuse?
>I loved Aftersun
You should seriously have a nice day
schizo alert wee woo wee woo
>she was abused BECAUSE I SAID SHE WAS!!
>SMOKING AROUND CHILDREN IS GOOD
>ANYONE WHO DOESN'T HATE LITTLE GIRLS INSANE
This world has gone insane
>le angry caps lock response
let it out, anon, you will not feel better anyway.
kek. i almost thought it was about his bubblebutt being on display around her but it's about cigarettes
>muh children
>kys spam tantrum
either schizo or some frustrated chud, hard to tell nowadays
That Paul Mescal guy seems to show his bubblebutt off in every single thing he's involved with. Even a drama about a father and daughter...sure enough, his big ol' ass is on display at one point
Lol real shit I watched a few episodes of Normal people and it just had a bunch of this dude's ass
Just watched Normal People recently too. At least the girl was naked just as much. Eventually I became unphased even though she was pretty cute
True, and very cute itty bitty tiddies
It's ok but extremely overrated. The whole movie seems to build up to something that never actually happens. The ending is just a cheap trick that comes out of nowhere with almost zero foreshadowing to give it a layer of drama it lacked until then. Iirc it's the director first movie so in that sense it's relatively impressive, but that's it. The Hispanic mc carried it hard.
Child abuse is not ok
Only thing I know about this "movie" is that it is child abuse and an ad for smoking
>The flick is good
It is evil filth. If you think it is good you are evil and need to die
terrible bait and you should be ashamed of yourself
How is not hating little girls bait? You think everyone must hate little girls as much as you, anyone who doesn't must be insane or joking. You're the shameful one here with your vile hatred
You're not even denying that this is a child abuse "movie". You're just here defending hurting little girls
>The whole movie seems to build up to something that never actually happens.
I didn't get that feeling at all. The whole thing felt like the main character trying to keep it together in front of his daughter. It's done so well too; it's not melodramatic, it's not preachy or too on-the-nose, it's measured and subtle (except maybe for the rave scenes and the adult girl scenes). The "trick" at the end isn't a twist or something that should've been foreshadowed, it's a reveal that does add an extra layer on top of the story.
>The whole thing felt like the main character trying to keep it together in front of his daughter.
If you think that you're not only evil but fricking moronic.
>It's done so well
No, this evil shit is not done well.
>it's not preachy or too on-the-nose
It is VERY preachy and on-the-nose as advertisements tend to be. Nothing "subtle" about this filth
What's it an advertisement for?
Smoking. That's all this "movie" is, advertising smoking and promoting child abuse and abusing a little girl because the evil scum who made it hate cute girls. You morons being convinced there's anything emotional in it means the advertising worked. Like
>add an extra layer on top of the story
This. There is no story in this "movie", it is just an ad
>daughter turns into a dyke
Completely failed as a father.
For me it's everyone singing "for he's a jolly good fellow" and him just standing there hating himself.
That was one of the moments that caught me the most. Realized I'm a miserable for also hating when people sing me happy birthday.
have a nice day
I hope I don't
Thanks for bumping, these threads usually don't last very long.
how new are you mfs? you guys don't know about the "e-girl smoking = child abuse" spammer? he's been around for years
it's hard to keep track. there's the Sarah Gadon one, the one that hates Emma Stone because he thinks she's a pornstar, the one that hates any sex scenes in any movie, etc
it's pretty good, yeah
>child abuse is pretty good
have a nice day
Other movies like this?
There's loads of child abuse "movies", evil scum like you who would watch them need to die
have a nice day
you seem an expert, why do you keep watching child abuse movies?
Haven't you read up higher in this thread? He's literally a pedophile
Don't, just check the IMDb Parent's Guide page
Are you autistic?
Makes me wanna go to a resort in turkey
Hate the setting ,kitsch. Hate the "I'm recording on a vcr bit", seen it a thousand times. Nothing impactful happens , he just wallows and is sad for some scenes. Terrible movie (not kino) you guys got filtered
It's evident by your post and mastery of the English language that you were the one filtered
Was my favorite movie of that year and bought it on Blu-Ray. Think about it every other day
You should have a nice day
Two more weeks
Unironically the best film in years
based. i don't think it's the best film in years but i appreciate anons that actually have an open mind about movies like this. i loved it
For a board that calls everything garbage and pozzed, I'm always pleasantly surprised when I see Cinemaphile talking about this film. It seems to be one of few recent movies which is actually liked here.
This. Maybe the strongest emotional gut punch I've ever gotten from a movie.
This board is dead. It's literally only Twitter tourists that post here bc they saw le funny and edgy greentext on X
It's more alive than you think. You wanna see dead go check out Cinemaphile. Both boards have the same problem in that people feel extremely uncomfortable providing any sort of positive analysis or interpretation because of how cynical everybody is, but it's way easier to meme on Cinemaphile without coming off moronic and pointless, so instead on Cinemaphile people don't talk at all except to rag on the few people that actually put thought and effort into their posts
>people feel extremely uncomfortable providing any sort of positive analysis or interpretation because of how cynical everybody is
Every time I effortpost I get told to kms and go back, even though I've been here since 2009 and I've never posted on Reddit.
i generally avoid watching films made by c**ts
It was okay but it needed a bit more something, not sure what. It's like I was watching a short film or an episode out of a show.
