Some years ago they showed 2001 A Space Odyssey here where I live, the image quality was so amazingly crisp compared to modern movies I almost couldn't believe it.
The transfers look so good thanks to modern technology though. They were scanned with state of the art modern technology and all the dust, dirt etc. other shit was cleaned frame by frame. Most people back in the day had inferior copies that they saw in theaters. Copies with slightly wrong color, dirt, scratches, dust etc.
One of the hard to argue benefits of digital and DCP's is that the movie will look the same anywhere in the world, which is a drastic difference compared to 35 mm prints which varied in quality a lot because of their age/wear and tear and because of quality control (or the lack of it).
These "4K RESTORATION [CURRENT YEAR]" re-releases always run for one-week. But don't worry if you miss it. Alien has literally had "4K Restoration" anniversary re-release every year since 2019 lmao. You could literally catch it next year. It will probably hit theatres again on May 25th to coincide with the original release date and then again around September 6th to coincide with the original UK release.
Basically, Alien has two theatre runs every year, now that studios have released nostalgia brings in more money than original IPs.

The biggest flaw Ridley made with Alien is that he never resolved the bonus situation.
The movie starts, and in one of the very first scenes, we hear about issues with the bonus situation, so you know it must have been important. It had me curious right off the bat, and scene after scene came, but they never discussed the bonus situation. I figured that when Kane was in his coma, Scott would have taken that opportunity to finally discuss the bonus situation, but the next thing you know, we get the chestburster scene, and the alien arrives, which was cool and all, but I couldn't help thinking to myself "what about the g'damn bonus situation!?".
Then, one by one, the alien starts killing the crew, and it was at this point that I figured Scott wasn't even going to address the bonus situation, which was fricked up, but I held out and figured that Ridley wouldn't let such an obviously important plot device go unresolved. But no. He did.
When we finally lose Parker and Lambert, I knew we'd never have the answer. The ending was cool with the "lucky star" shit and the ejection from the shuttle, but all I could think about was how I would be left forever wondering about the bonus situation, and why it never got resolved.
Just got back from seeing it, it's still as perfect as I remember. I need a good sound system for my home kino station, I was blown away by how crisp the dialogue and sound design were in the theater.

That's good tho. In Alien: Isolation there's a android that helps you, you only know he's one because he tells you upfront, you wouldn't know otherwise. In this case the fact that you know he's a android makes you don't trust him at first, that and being owned by the company.
So in the game there are other kinds of androids made from other companies, like "Working Joes" by Seegson, made to look obviously synthetic and give canned responses as to prevent distrust (and is cheaper).
Also just adding on to this, the alien egg was originally going to have a literal vegana on top but the studio made them change it out of ratings board fears. Also IIRC the Alien head was going to be a lot more phallic and the film was going to have a lot more sexual imagery in general.
Saw this last Sunday then snuck into my 3rd viewing of Abigail right after. The opening with the classical music gave away what theater it was starting in. They go well together.

I did yesterday. Still holds up very well, they simply do not make them like that anymore: simple story, fantastic production design, all practical effects (no CGI), everything about it was pure kino. What filmmaking should be.
Somewhat sad Scott has lost his touch since then. Prometheus was awful by comparison. So was Covenant. And that's coming from someone who tends to be a harsh critic, but was willing to give the benefit of the doubt to all the issues in Prometheus and Covenant, but I still couldn't like those movies.
Planning to see The Mummy re-issue this week as well. Looking forward to it.
