He's right, Part 2 is just a shitty comedy and Part 1 doesn't reach it's full potential (and also has stupid shit like the children literally floating in midair instead of in sewer water like the book implied)

        Anonymous

Part 2's issues lies on the script being extremely mediocre, how WB apparently forced the extra scenes for the kids even though they had grown up AND the forced deal to go COMPLETELY ON CANON WITH THE DEATHS (even though Stan's death is still damn moronic + Eds dying in the cave instead of outside, to give Richie and the others some sort of closure, or hell, they could have made it a surprise deal and make Richie die saving Eds instead, but nooooooo)

But no, Part 1 was damn good, even if they could have gone with some of the more fricked up parts from Bowers' group of morons.

The adult part will always be awful because it is like so on the book, a bunch of people on their 40s VS a scary clown never worked it was also trash on the 80s adaptation, I dunno why they keep trying

Kids VS It is the only good part of that plot

Straight up had more respect and love for the IPs and the creators he referenced in his movies than 80% of the movie directors we've had doing Marvel or DC movies.
And from that 20% of directors that actually did have respect for the genre, only 10% managed to nail a unique theme while still managing to adapt a comic book story into a movie.

              Anonymous

He completely butchers the characters he adapts and turn them into absolute jokes. His movies always shit on the concept of the comics for being too goofy. Peacemaker for example was some subversion about muscled characters like Rambo being dumb and gay for being too macho and jingoist.

                Anonymous

Ok, look, pal, I understand you're mad that some of the writing for these characters don't line up with your fanfic-I mean, with your view of that character, but there's not a lot you can do in these cases, especially if the one reason they're adapted that way is because they weren't really popular until much, MUCH later by better writers.

                Anonymous

And James Gunn's take on these characters are nothing like the initial writers or the later writers. That's why Gunn likes to adapt smaller properties that are not well known, because he can twist and subvert them any way he wants.

Battinson and Joker will be labeled as elseworlds, the shared universe actors will be on movies clearly labeled DCU

Joker was always utterly incompatible with anything DC.

It would be fascinating if they could pull a trick and reveal that the Battinson films are the origin of the DCU Batman. I doubt they can do that, but it'd be neat.

The Battinson films are too, incompatible with that concept, it's grounded as hell, even more so than Nolan, meta humans and aliens like Gunn wants to do wouldn't work on it

      There is no "future".
Five flopped movies in a row. A company 40 billion in the hole and bleeding cash badly. All of these movies were almost completely paid for by AT&T and bought for the 40 billion. Where do they get the money to make new tentpole cape flicks? What tight-assed bank is going to lend them the money? Who would invest in it?

They aren't filming anything new, they are just announcing, "casting" and doing script treatments. They are trying to spoof a potential FAANG buyer into believing they still have big IP value, and that's it.

Iron Man did solidly right off, and then the whole enterprise was bought by a much larger company than Discovery.
Under AT&T they could afford flops, til the shareholders got tired of the drag on the telecommunications business.
Netflix, Amazon, these players can afford to burn money.
Zaslav has no monies. He sunk his company deep in debt to buy the WB library and finished movies. He's failing to monetize the library and the movies he bought have all been turds.

Now he just has a frickload of debt. They don't have 200 million to make a Superman movie, and no one is going to line up to throw money in their burning dumpster.

Frickin' hell, it's official... they actually did it...

“We saw The Flash even before taking the reins at DC Studios, and knew we were in the hands of not only a VISIONARY (?!!!) director but a massive DC fan,” Gunn and Safran told the trade in a joint statement.

“It’s a MAGNIFICENT FILM (?????!!?!) – funny, emotional, thrilling – and Andy’s affinity and passion for these characters and this world just resonates through every frame.

So, when it came time to find a director for The Brave and the Bold, there was really ONLY ONE CHOICE (WHAT THE ACTUAL FRICK?!!!!!).

If it's anything like the Flash (which my gut tells me it will be), this will become officially the worst Batman film ever from a stylistic & visual POV. Dead on arrival, worst director, worst comic book mid writer/consultant, worst timeline. Andy Mousketeerietti hates Batman with passion & raped both Batfleck & Keaton with ease. Fear him!

Gunn is just making shit up. He stands in front of a marquee with 30 movies on it, working for a studio that couldn't afford the sfx to finish a fricking Batgirl movie. They had enough in their coffers to have Discount Pajeets make the horrendous effects in this Flash movie, now it's over.

Shazam 2 was also delayed a ton, Shazam is typically associated with the JSA so it was just a fun nod.

Which was poorly done because Dwayne veto'd any of his characters appearing on the movie.

Which again, what the frick was that about? The Rock wanted nothing to do with the Shazam movies and Gunn wasn't going to play ball with The Rock.

The Rock wanted to take control of the DCEU and make it revolve around him and Cavill Superman. There's way too much drama to cover but he also kind of hates Levi.

Did Gunn considered doing something with Shazam at some point?

Levi seemed to think so, but who knows. He was defending Gunn's wife on social media pretty hard.

I think he's open to the idea but i don't think he's getting a third movie, best he'll get is supporting roles in DCU movies if they decide to even use Shazam at all.

A ton of people unironically watched it in hopes of a Spiderman cameo, plus people also meme watched it BEFORE Sony rereleased it.

it was made before WB was sold and Gunn took over, the JSA probably had a role under old leadership
But Harcourt and Waller have parts in the DCU. Both will be in Waller and Peacemaker S2.

    - Makes the Salo equivalent of the CBM genre
    - Gets rewarded & praised for creating a monstrosity
    - Completely fricks up Ben Affleck & Michael Keaton
    - Has no vision & no clear visual direction
    - Worst on screen costume choices for Batmen
    - Brainwashed by the MCU machinery of quips

Is it the scorching sun in L.A., or is it getting crazier out there in Hollyweird?!

It will be a very tough sit & you got to find the right day, time, mood & vibe to watch this Italian piece of cinema by Pier Paolo Pasolini. It is not for everyone, it is a chore, nothing has prepared you for that sort of immersive experience. My only advice: watch it on an empty stomach. The funniest shit was ICE T daring folks online to WATCH & REVIEW SALO back in 2011 &... we are in the year of 2023 & THERE IS STILL NO REVIEW from ICE T...

Blue Beetle was originally an HBO Max project, simmilar to JLD, Zatanna, Plastic Man etc
it managed to survive due to the script apparently being so good WB gave them more money to make it into a theatrical release

The truth is that it managed to survive because Peter Safran was the producer.

because they stupidly gave the rights to JJ Abrams and he just fricking took the money and ran with absolutely Zero work on any of the JLD projects
JJ was the reason Constantine couldn't be used in Legends of Tomorrow anymore and why Sandman had to use Johanna.

If it's a Silver Age style, I'd actually wanna see Clooney give another crack at it.
