This is a bad property to go with this mindset, too. Avatar wasn't made by Asian people and isn't based on any singular nationality. If wokies didn't like it, they'd call it cultural appropriation.

I guess it's possible that not all of them wanted to come back. But I know Toph's VA is just as gung-ho about the series as Dante Basco is and Korra's actress, they do a podcast together about the franchise. I believe Jack DeSena is also involved with it sometimes. I don't know about Mae Whitman. And I think the kid who played Aang ditched acting entirely after the show ended, but I'm not sure. There's no good excuse or reason for this, but my interest is basically gone.

It's sociologically interesting how obvious this should be and yet how and why the establishment controlled mainstream pretends otherwise. It's obviously for anti-white purposes - race neutral meritocracy would give out "too many" jobs to whites. But I think only israelites at the top have a genuine hatred for whites to level of suppressing them, even if no one else would care in the end product, is its own goal and worthy of some strained public lie. The rest, like blacks, I think are just petty zero sum racial territory warriors that are also happy to participate in the absurd idea, so long as they know it means more guaranteed slots for them - frick whitey.

It's the fans of avatar who became hyperfocused on the ethnicities of each nation in the first place so these casting choices are half trying to please the fans, half what you said. The Airbender is in an interesting situation because on one hand the message was already kind of liberal-style so in the new zeitgeist it became supercharged.
On the other hand, the cannon became bend out of shape after too much fan discussion so TLA has entered into a paradox and if they acquiesce to the fandom's vision of the cartoon then it'll automatically be an unfaithful adaptation.

  23. 2 months ago
    Anonymous

    >“ethnically accurate”

All the ethnicities in Avatar are made up bullshit. Katara and Sokka are eskimos who look like sikhs and they're somehow related to cajun swamp folk.

Like is Aang supposed to be asian? He's pale, he's got European eyes and he was voiced by a white dude; but his character's origin is clearly influenced by Chinese Shaolin monks so you recast his voice actor with a Korean? How does that make sense?

I legitimately wouldn’t have a single problem with this if Hamilton were also seen as a problem. At least be consistent if you want us all to be segregated Christ alive.

Hamilton's subtext is that white people need to go the way of the dodo, you should never have praised it because it was never in good faith

What's next? Actual lesbians to play Korra and Asami? The voice actors have to bend in real life?

Asami voice actress was good looking. She's only part Mexican though, so I don't know if that's enough brown to keep her in.

Ah fantasy, cartoons. The realms of imagination. Where the impossible is possible. BETTER RESTRICT THE VAS TO BE ASIAN AND ALSO BLIND BECAUSE THAT'S ALL THE LOVABLE CHARACTERS WE KNOW AND LOVE ARE - RACE, ETHNICITY, LEVELS OF QUEERNESS, AND DISABILITY

    >getting Carl and Apu'd
The Netflix show and casting was actually good.

This is so funny. All of the elite childrens cartoon purists were shilling for this against the Netflix show and it already seems like it's going to be complete shit.
    >the show was bad because the OG writers left!
The OG writers that produced the Legend of Korra before woke was cool.

This reminds me of when ProZD made a big fuss about representation and then got mad when it meant he was locked out of voicing white characters

sequel to the original series while potentially linking to the terrible spin-off since bryke keep on insisting that korra, the most expensive fanfic ever was secretly good

I scrolled through Youtube and saw a video clip from a movie where a white incompetent cop is reprimanded by a lady black copy. The next clip had a young black boy be accosted by a white woman who calls the cops on him for selling lemonade.

Can they recast Bryke? I don't like this problematic power dynamic of the creators of the series being white

Jesus fricking christ. Stop raping avatar. What the frick. What the frick is their fricking obsession with Avatar in particular? Frick. When will it fricking end? Is it because they accidentally made something good for once, so now they're desperately trying to undo it? Is that what it is?
