HBO did the exact same thing with that Indian Scooby Doo, absolutely everyone hated it, but HBO renewed it because everyone hate-watched it. Chuds are stupid.

Hate watch is a meme cope
More people would've watched internet grifters riffing on the show than the show itself and it definitely has highly diminishing return

Is hate-watch even real? Like i'm sure it exists with a handful of people, but is it really that much of a help for the ratings overall, like substantially?

        No.
They are just "hollywood accounting" viewers numbers: each viewer is counted as 2.5 and each device ( e.g., one in the living room and one in the bedroom) is counted. Add to that that just a couple minutes is enough to get counted, so stumbling by zapping or streaming starting the an episode automatically count too
Some anon explained in another thread, that's how they got more viewers than the highest they ever got.

All women do is hate-watch. If they're not watching something terrible, they're thinking about it.

Hate watchers are a small minority of an audience. Most people just stop watching.

I wish that were true but I'm not so sure about that any more. I think TD5 was a gamechanger. They can put out cheap shit that sullies the good name of what came before and people will pay and show up to watch a good thing die.

Amazon's shit-tier Rings of Power only had 37% of the starting audience watch the complete series. Disney's Ashoka had abysmal viewership, as did Andor.

People are aware of the abject trash that is ~~*Hollywood*~~ now, and they're not watching it anymore when they spot it.

Hate watching isn't a thing moron. A handful of youtubers pretend go get mad at something and people watch their videos. No one goes out of their way to watch this shit when they know it's shit. Woke media isn't like the Room, it's literay unwatchble to the normal person.
The reason they get new seasons is anti white propaganda

Check out the mass shooting definition and then search statistics

Remember the largely unnoticed group of indigenous and minority women who solved the murder in the finale? That's who came out to take this show to number one. The show spells it out and chuds are still left scratching their heads.

I think big companies nowadays are being ran terribly. So little information goes up to the director’s board that the marketing department basically runs them.
A department of which is comprised of fresh out of college leftist morons who need to rub their ideology on people’s faces, even if it’s a net negative to the company they work at, because, the boomer directors are too busy enjoying their yachts to notice what’s actually going on.
Take a look a Bud Light for example, how the frick did that troony get past the board of directors? And they suffered for it.
Take a look a Disney and Marvel/Star Wars slop, only after several billions lost, did the homosexual CEO decide to step in and have an agent watching the production.
It’s like the people in power are moronic (because they are).

You are referring to the CEO, then yeah. I never believed it would change. It only reinforces my point about how the higher ups are clueless morons.

Did HBO/Max get new management? Their ads run almost nonstop and this show is one of the ones they push.

Maybe they are following the Disney+ model as a place for accounting to conceal loses?

    >leftoid type people support and watch it as a reaction to the controversy
90% of their views aren’t coming from chuds or rabid lefties, it’s from normal people who don’t really care what’s in front of them

S4 of True Detectives did well purely off the notion of lowered expectations from viewers after seasons 2 and 3 under performed.

HBO considers True Detectives to be a flagship program and were always pissed that Pizza guy couldn't keep a regular production schedule and how each season did worse than the last. Giving the franchise to Lopez is their way to try and salvage it and so long as the ratings don't dip below what S4 brought in, they'll keep her around making new seasons or bring in someone new as far as go full revolving door creative team.
