Spiderman > Nimona > Suzume >> shit > tentacle thing > element thing
Nimona and Suzume are actually close, but while Suzuma had stellar side characters the two mains were weak, Nimona doesn't have good side characters but the mains are likeable and mains are more important. Plus, some parts of the story of Suzume made no sense or was stupid at least. Still an enjoyable movie, but eventually just a worse Your Name.
Have nothing to say about the pixar/dreamwerks trash.
The only 2 I can imagine actually winning are Spider-Verse and Nimona, and I think Spider-Verse will win just because whoever judges these things probably won't watch Nimona or that chinese fricking shit.
There's Disney bias but Spiderverse is also Disney so that bias will only go towards the winner. Elemental has to fight Ruby for not getting last place.

The cliffhanger is honestly my only gripe with it. I'm fine with it being a 2 parter but they should have battled spot in the third act or something idk.
But I did like it and saw it 3 times
It's going to be >Ghibli's newest and Miyazaki's last film >Elemental >Spider-Verse >Nimona >Wish
Maybe replace Elemental for TMNT. Anyway this is between Spider-Verse and the Ghibli film.
If it doesn't officially screen somewhere in the US before submission deadline it doesn't qualify. Some Ghibli movies have taken a year to release in the US.
If the Academy didn't award Ghibli the last time he said it was his "last" film why would they do it now? 10 years ago Ghibli lost to a Disney musical (frozen) and now it's going to happen again (wish).
Agreed. I can't imagine them bothering with Gillman, especially when Wish and Nimona make for much better "and something not-from Disney or Marvel!" movies.
>Ghibli's newest and Miyazaki's last film
Wasn't his last film supposed to be Spirited Away? Then Howl's Moving Castle? Then Ponyo? Then The Wind Rises?

No because they would've announced it already. As it stands, no one knows shit about the film and no production on a dub has started. That sets a US release back half a year.
For all anyone knows, GKIDS might not even get the license.
Spider-Man wins, no contest. I'd be amazed if the others won.
Miyazaki will win. Laughable he's not in OP's grid.
Wtf is that mermaid shit doing in How Do You Live's place?
Sorry, it's going to be Spider Verse, Wish, Nimona, one of the Chinese cartoons, and Teenage Mutant Nina Turtles.
Ruby actually got fricking nominated?

Was Nimona that good?
It's only good by comparison. On it's own it's barely a 6/10
imagine if Elemental won. That would be super cute!

>Spiderverse is also Disney
Sony.
Marvel is owned by Disney. So regardless if Sony's or Pixar's film wins, Disney is the real winner.
Spider-Man is one of the few heroes they don't have full control over, so not really
Nah, Spiderverse beating both Incredibles 2 and Wreck it Ralph 2 borke Disney
Now imagine if Elemental was good!
Unless something amazing pops up in the 2nd half of the year, Spiderverse is going to win.

Nimona will be forgotten in two months
Alright Cinemaphile convince me why spider-man doesn't deserve this. Because he is black is not a valid argument btw.
The first one was better. It's flat as a sequel and doesn't work well on its own because of the cliffhanger.

You're forgetting someone
>Illumination
>Ever being nominated at the Academy
Besides there's no room for it. It's a pretty stacked year for animation
Ahem... Despicable Me 2
Peaches will definitely get nominated for Best Original Song, not entirely sure about the movie itself though

2024
It comes out in 2 weeks
Not in the country that qualifies nominations

This. Ghibli doesn't have Lasseter sucking their dick anymore.
Ghibli is still held in high regard by Hollywood.
Well regarded as a childrens' entertainer that makes childrens' movies for children.
Agreed. I can't imagine them bothering with Gillman, especially when Wish and Nimona make for much better "and something not-from Disney or Marvel!" movies.

20 bucks says he'll make another one.
>20 bucks says he'll make another one.
He’s too old now and this last movie took him longer than ever to finish.
He'll do shorts or something.
Work until your last breath, at your own pace if you can. When you stop working you don't have long left.
There’s no way Suzume is going to be nominated when Miyazaki’s last(?) movie is being released the same year.
Are you moronic or stupid?
You don’t think GKIDS is going to fast-track its US release to assure a nomination?
No because they would've announced it already. As it stands, no one knows shit about the film and no production on a dub has started. That sets a US release back half a year.

the only one deserving of the win is the jap one
These are the likely nominees according to Variety.
Robot Dreams?
Some Spanish movie that won an award at Annecy.
