Bethesda games are generally awful, and so is F3. But they do follow the Fallout design documents, so the foundation is accurate. They just execute it in a REALLY shitty manner, as New Vegas proved.

There is nothing wrong with this. The point isn't that the dialogue has to be well written, it is that the other characters are swayed by your speech. Did you expect Bethesda to hire a once-in-a-lifetime genius savant to do the writing for this game?

Vault-Tec isn't in charge of the post-war plan in the show, the Enclave is.

The Enclave decides to drop the nuke. Vault-Tec is just their front. The Enclave also is the racist pure-human supremacist organization in the games, which explains Vault-Tec's actions and plans in the show, as they act on orders from the Enclave.

Obviously, S2, 3, 4, etc. will be about the Enclave.

Vault-Tec is just one of the main corporations around that roundtable with ideas, but the only backed by the Enclave.

Admittedly, Enclave is the point of Fallout, as Fallout 2 demonstrates. While Fallout 1 deals with The Master, the FEV virus etc. is Enclave's doing.

The story basically revolves around a US Government psycho faction starting WW3, and wanting to dominate the world in the aftermath. The ending of the whole story is that they either succeed or fail. Everything else is worldbuilding.

Why was Coopers daughter with him when the bombs fell when his Vault-Tec wife was the mastermind? She just decided to risk her daughter? And since NV is canon, why wasn't House more prepared for the nukes if he was in on it? He didn't get the platinum chip in time.

Yeah the POINT of Fallout is watching people post-collapse live out an existing directly governed by the past. They're stuck living in a bombed out shithole with warped ideologies that are effectively parroting or are a result of pre-war American philosophy, and are doomed because they can't get over the past. The Enclave were the embodiment of that old world, and their destruction in 2 seems to imply things would get better but as we see in New Vegas, war never changes. Or rather, the ideologies that push war never change. The NCR became pre-war America, and in order to stop it Caesar decided the only logical route was to make a fascist state consisting of rapist-murders.

Bethesda changed the Enclave from just the oil rig, essentially, to a decentralized body of scattered outposts in contact with one another.

I suppose that makes sense logically, IRL there's a bunch of government black sites and contingency facilities scattered across the US. But it certainly is a retcon.

Sure but from what we see the enclave would be beyond crippledby this point still. Scattered black sites isn't the same as state of the art military facilities designed for centralization

They are certainly less than what they were, but beyond crippled? When the rest of America and/or anything not depicted is supposed to be assumed to be Mad Max style wasteland?

Bethesda changed the Enclave from just the oil rig, essentially, to a decentralized body of scattered outposts in contact with one another.

I suppose that makes sense logically, IRL there's a bunch of government black sites and contingency facilities scattered across the US. But it certainly is a retcon.

Only the Poseidon tanker is destroyed in F2, but they're obviously mainly on the East coast as F3 showcases. Their "main" base of operations is in another place though, which I hope the story eventually deals with.

The 'east coast' raven rock / Adams AFB enclave is literally the same one as the oil rig / camp navarro one.
After the events of 2, Autumn Senior (Colonel Autumn's dad) received a message from Eden and they went all the way to DC.
I have no fricking clue how they'll retcon the enclave back into existing this time. They got their oil rig blown up, then raven rock, then adams airforce base. The remnants in NV should have been the last time they're ever seen.

Neither the Oil Rig nor the Raven Rock base are the main Enclave outposts.

Now with the show, and because of 3, it seems that Bethesda will have it where, if there's some IRL US government secret/secure facility in a place, then in game setting there was or will be an Enclave presence there.

              Operation Sea-Spray
In the Senate subcommittee hearings in 1977, the Army revealed:
Between 1949 and 1969, open-air tests of biological agents were conducted 239 times. In 80 of those experiments, the Army said it used live bacteria that its researchers at the time thought were harmless. In the others, it used inert chemicals to simulate bacteria.
In the 1950s, army researchers dispersed Serratia on Panama City and Key West Florida with no known illnesses resulting.
In the 1950s, army researchers dispersed zinc cadmium sulfide (now a known cancer-causing agent) over Minnesota and other Midwestern states to see how far they would spread in the atmosphere. The particles were detected more than 1,000 miles away in New York state.
Bacillus globigii, never shown to be harmful to people, was released in San Francisco, New York, Washington, D.C., and along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, among other places.
In New York, military researchers in 1966 spread Bacillus subtilis variant Niger, also believed to be harmless, in the subway system by dropping lightbulbs filled with the bacteria onto tracks in stations in midtown Manhattan. The bacteria were carried for miles throughout the subway system. Army officials concluded in a January 1968 report that: "Similar covert attacks with a pathogenic disease-causing agent during peak traffic periods could be expected to expose large numbers of people to infection and subsequent illness or death."
In a May 1965 secret release of Bacillus globigii at Washington's National Airport and its Greyhound Lines bus terminal, more than 130 passengers were exposed to the bacteria and traveled to 39 cities in seven states in the two weeks following the mock attack.[5]

Like how New Vegas has a smattering of Enclave soldiers left or how the mutants in 2 and NV were making their own settlements with their chaotic, staggering tiers of mentally unwell, competent, or moron intellect citizens. They even integrated. Without The Master's plan, they found their own purposes. You can: Make. NEW. Things. It keeps your stories interesting.

From Vault-tec's own claimed perspective in the show, that's not the point. They themselves said they wanted to invite the various corporations and economic magnates, and encourage a capitalist spirit of competition, may the best (experimental) vault society win sort of philosophy.

Of course they could be lying if the plot decides to go that way, but there was an entire scene dedicated to them showing and explaining this. Hank nuking the NCR is against that corporate initiative.

It truly is amazing to see how far the series has fallen. What once started as the passion project of a literal gay man based on a ton of cult-classic sci-fi/post-apocalyptic novels and films, with an actually cerebral and heartfelt sociological message, has finally completed the transformation Bethesda started in 2008 with Fallout 3; it is now nothing more than a vapid aesthetic with only the slightest hint of satire, except not really, because taking any kind of sociological stance with actual passion and sincerity means you might lose consumers, so you do the safe and easy thing and never actually say anything meaningful and just attack imaginary strawmen to virtue signal while skirting around topics relevant to the real world.
Fallout is now in the same vein as Star Wars; a product to be sold whose value is tied solely to the iconography of the series. The Enclave? Brotherhood? What do you mean they're bad? What does that matter, they're cool! Here, have this Enclave-themed cup, or a Brotherhood T-Shirt! Don't forget to buy a Vault-Tec lunchbox, and some Nuka-Cola, too! NCR? Those guys weren't really as cool or marketable, so we blew them up so the other cooler guys could have more screen-time, after all that's what sells merchandise! I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised, it was literally produced by Amazon, of course they'd turn it into an ironic parody of itself.
Sorry for being a whining homosexual but I just had to vent I guess.

Though are we to assume the entire 33 population all didn't have the setting on, that not one single person may have been over cautious? Or that the vault itself doesn't have some radiation monitor/warning system? Why do people that Vault-Tec was the one dropping the nukes? It is implied they'd consider it but seeing as how Cooper and his daughter were out when the nukes dropped, its safe to say that they didn't. Cooper's wife sole motivation for doing what she did was to secure her family, they'd be in a Vault if Vault-Tec was the one dropping the nukes. It also doesn't line up with Mr. House and the platinum chip.

Shady Sands wasn't built using GECK, that was Vault City and Arroyo.

I thought so as well but its mentioned in fallout 2, its a shoddy job though, vault city did it properly; you can't find the cold fusion generator anywhere in shady sands and they didn't even know crop rotation. Theres also a quote from the vault city central computer that each vault was meant to get 2 gecks but its written as if they interpreted the entry that way and its not potentially true. Interestingly the quote about using the geck is also a rumor.

      >A GECK? Well, that's old history, so what the hell. You mean the old Garden of Eden Kit. We had one - I mean our grandparents had one. Used it when they came out of Vault 15. Got this place started, they say. It's all used up now."

Vault City didn't have cold fusion, they relied on the nuclear plant in Gecko.

I recall a conversation that the generators tiny, its not meant to power a city its more of a babbys first power supply kinda thing so they relied on gecko. It's in the kit though according to its page.

No, they did have the GECK power plant powering Vault City. The whole repairing of Gecko power plant to power them was because Vault City had grown too large for the GECK power plant.

Huh, I didn't know about that retcon. Shady Sands would look a hell of a lot nicer if they had one in F1.

Did they retcon house calculating the probability of the bombs falling to him just being told about it at a meeting?

They didn't drop the bombs, they just talked about doing it. Your grandpa did the same thing in the cold war.

The bonzi buddies bombed shady sands but originally they were bombed first. At least that's the charitable interpretation which forces the pieces to fit.

Will anyone even remember this show by the time Season 2 comes out?

    >doesnt make sense

I know most of the people here have never lived their lives because if they had they would watch things and the morals and themes would speak to them because they could relate to their own life experience. Instead they go completely over your heads.

Same place Freeside and everything else surrounding New Vegas went. I wouldn't care if they weren't calling it canon.
