Original, 90% of the aliens in the ultimatrix are redundant to some degree or just kind of dumb.
Plus with Greymatter I could probably just figure out how to make a better one eventually.
i just realized "grey matter" isn't just a brain related name because it's the smart alien but also because greymatter is the closest equivalent the show has to the typical "greys" alien archetype
Your best bet is to take the second one, use Grey Matter, and build a second omnitrix without those limitations.
Though that goes against the spirit of the question, it technically doesn’t break the rules since the new one isn’t beheld to the limitations.
Or just build Nanites with either and become Rex

Omniverse Omnitrix all the way. Might give the wrong alien sometimes but the wide range of possible transformations makes it worth it. Unless it gives you Alien X and you're stuck with Bellicus and Serena for a while or you get Way Big and destroy your surroundings.
I'm gonna basically be using this just to frick around in every day life and maybe make some money, so I don't really care about reliability. Variety is the spice of life, gimme all the aliens!
I choose the original, most of the OG 10 aliens are top tier even in later series and it looks like a cool alien gauntlet and not some lame wrist watch.

The time limit never worked on Alien X, in fact you'll end up stuck completely motionless as Alien X forever or until you can somehow convince the other two to change you back.

I'd forgotten that Yung Hee had starred in Ben 10 before moving to Mike Tyson Mysteries.
The second one, since Ben usually stays in a form before he hits the time limit or return to normal since he can get the required task in under ten minutes.
Plus, the time limit is inconsistent later on since Azmuth explained that Ben's large hands slapping the dial causes it to set it to a random time limit.
Also, the second omnitrix has a better interface, doesn't have that erori like the first and multiple cool functions, so maybe there is a sleep mode or something that supercharges the watch so I can stay in a form for longer depending on the length (It has a randomizer option so sonething like this wouldn't be out of question).

The first one was a shitty prototype, the ultimatrix faulty Albedoware and this one its the best iteration, it's just that Ben has some form of mental moronation thatmakes him the worst possible user before he learns the ropes.

I'm gonna have to say, the OG with master control is beyond insane when you can Upgrade or Ghost Freak for longer than 10 minutes at a time.

Personally I just recently rediscovered the show after getting recommended omniverse on YT. Turns out it was way better than I remembered and now I'm watching the seasons I missed after losing interest as a kid
I watched the OG as a kid - are Alienforce, and other new versions worth watching?
Well so far I've only watched Omniverse and the original series, but I can vouch for OV being worth watching. The main critique with it is that some people don't like it being more comedy oriented compared to UAF, but the OS also doubled as a comedy too, so if you liked the original you'll probably like OV.

Only if your a midwitt, you can just first transform into echo echo, clone yourself and have your clone turn into brainstorm while you turn into alien x, if your diplomacy fails then you have your alone who figured out how the watch works and can transform you back
On top of that, you can also have the clone turn into clockwork and stop time to let you have all the time in the world to argue these two

Original has no real downsides. I'd probably turn into Grey Matter and at least try to make it look like the more compact AF version but the original ten with no limit are all I'd ever need.
Other than Ghost freak chomping out and escaping my Omnitrix and Stinkfly being useless the original 10 aliens seem pretty solid.

It's already been established that there was no attempt at any serious discussion. The crew were simply arguing for the sake of arguing and entertainment.
I personally don't like clothes on the transformations either nut I can tolerate it if was something like in the reboot where the armor/clothes are supposed to be a special mode, like a power ranger battlizer or something.
Yeah you’re right I shouldn’t make a mountain out of a mole hill. But I like the uniforms personally, gives the transformations a sense of unity and plays into that superhero inspiration by giving them a “costume”. I do like how some don’t get one since it wouldn’t work with their body type like Wildmutt or Spidermonkey
I get where you're coming from but I can't say I am in favor of the superhero costumes. I much prefer naked or the OS black and white jumpsuits. Those designs really help reinforce Ben 10 as an "unconventional" kind of superhero. It also helped reinforce how unique and truly "alien" the Omnitrix device was, instead of a typical superpower.
I even remember earlier episodes of the original series that spoofed the standard superhero archetype, in contrast to how ben was basically a little kid playing hero by using dangerous monsters contained within his watch.

I'd take a reboot back to Ben 10 (og), maybe have him at 11 or so.
