3 is a prequel and is merely decent but 1-2 are both fully great, IMO the best slashers made since 1988.

You had disgusting torture porn but it didn't get annoying pretentious in its attempts to lecture you. You had feminist slashers about getting back at men but with sexy scenes and sexy actresses. Filmmakers weren't afraid to take the ridiculous story's seriously and need to insert a marvel quip of "yeah that just happened" every 15 seconds,

Pros! > Decent to Good final girl. > Final fight in the real world is fully good & gets really brutal on the pier. > Cornfield massacre with Jason on fire. > Decent score. > Freddy looks great, possibly his 2nd best make up of the series after Dream Warriors. > Robert Englund's performance is very good, menace & humor is balanced very well. > Solid opening nudity. > Good/intelligent reason for them to come into conflict. > Intelligent subplot about how Springwood has suppressed Freddy.
Cons! > Bad CGI (especially the neck snap at start of cornfield massacre) > Fight in dream world is weak & too reliant on CGI. > Jason's design is weak with the granny sweater & thin neck. > Jason's performance is generic & it was a big missed opportunity not having Kane return.

This is the only horror that has gotten under my skin. At one point it makes it clear that logic doesn't exist in there and the theatrical ending made me feel dread, perhaps because it proved that it wasn't all in le head/allegory for depression/addiction/being gay, unlike most other horrors of this type.
I was watching dreamcatcher for the umpteenth time a few days ago and I went to the cast to see who played young Ryan Reynolds only to find out it wasn't even Ryan Reynolds playing Beaver. It's was fricking Jason Lee. It's literally just Ryan Reynolds
Noroi and Dagon are easily top 5 for me
The other 2 I don't like at all because I'm Australian and there's nothing gayer for me than watching people be murdered by someone I used to have to watch yell at the cricket every Saturday at the pub with my family

Always been amazed at how they managed to wove together both Fred and Jason's stories together so well in this. Great film
