Wow, so please tell me what was so great about them? I've watched all of them. Every single bit of Macross. The music carries most of them. Fire Bomber is a great band, and as a I Frontier had a bunch of great songs. But the shows themselves have dopey enemies where they are trying to take your life spirit or some shit and only the power of song can stop them. In Macross Minmei's music was used as more of a distraction so UN Spacy can launch their fighter/main gun attacks. (In Macross II this didn't work because the enemy had a counter-song). Macross Zero was free of this stuff (it being a prequel to Macross it makes sense because the Minmei defense wasn't invented yet) and it was more grounded, but it loaded up the show with too much "le ancient aliens were on Earth" bullshit. Macross Delta (I said Alpha, my mistake) literally had little girls flying around with speakers attached to them blasting music. Delta was Macross going full anime. It sucked.
