How about everyone just stops worrying about some bullshit checklist? When you make it a priority, it feels less genuine and determinantal to what these crybabies actually want. People identify with characters, how they act, not what skin color they have

I’m “Latino” and I couldn’t care less about representation. They censored Speedy Gonzalez under the guise of caring, now they’re trying to do diversity checklists? Hollywood is an empire of godless pedophiles and hedonists infused with drugs and microplastics.

It was a fun movie and it's pretty shitty that what they are taking from the movie flopping is "No one wants latinos" and not "DC is a damaged brand".

      Anonymous

That's honestly the big thing that should be taken away from this if BB flops. It's a good movie but it has the burden of following after not just one, not just two but three mid to bad DC movies in the span of the same year. Of course folks aren't going to be in the theaters day one for a DC B lister after three horrific bombs

I think both. I think hollywood execs are that fricking stupid and racist, and their supposed support for poc that they crow about is really that shallow.

I think it's also mostly a guilt play to get leftist gabachos to give the movie a blind shot.

I think if this movie craters, they just raceswap some white character with a hispanic lead in their next shit, and pretend it's fixing the world.

Remember there are execs dumb enough to say they will not cast latino actors becuase a bad movie with a Latino cast flopped.
These are the same people who took a classic novel of early American scifi and decided that becuase a bad kids movie with Mars as a theme had failed they needed to remove the one core selling point from the title.

If this flops then only due to the massive mishandling of something that could've been the second coming of the 1st Shazam movie.

    >120M estimated budget
    >Roughly 350~400M break even point
    >Average US ticket price of $10.53
    >Roughly 62 million Hispanics in the US
So what Hollywood is saying is that around 60% of every Hispanic in the US must watch this movie, otherwise they are race traitors. It doesn't matter if the movie sucks, if they're over 55 or under 13 years old, if they hate superhero films, or if they're from that one weird country that speaks Portuguese. Put down your taco, skip your siesta, go down to the theater right now and pay for the privilege of being told what your culture is by an American studio.
    ...Alright.

      Anonymous

350-400m is not the breakeven point for a $120m film.
People tend to use either a 2x or 2.5x multiplier of the budget to figure out that number.
Of course, that’s before a lot of other considerations, but that’s the general rule.

The kind of "representation" spanish people get in Hollywood is the worst fricking influence on anyone and they don't need that shit. Representation is especially fricking stupid because if you ask any White, Black, or Spanish guy in the US who their favorite heroes are at this point it's probably going to be some Japanese cartoon character because they cater to what people want to see

People need to stop thinking DC is some massive box office franchise like Marvel. DC has always been a $400 million or less franchise even back when the first Superman movie came out in the 70s.

What matters is that these movies are great and will be loved for decades. NOT how much money they make for the brief time they're not available in stores or on VOD.

Wasn't Mars Needs Moms the flop that causes the change?. Even though it's not the same genre or even audience.

Really awful decision. "John Carter" sounds like a biopic for some person you can't even identify. "John Carter OF MARS" is the shot of the fantastic that's absolutley needed.
