Bourne Trilogy

These movies are astonishingly boring.

How can you make an action spy movie so boring?
I guess they sold well as an overreaction to Brosnan Bond getting too silly, but theyre just so miserable and dull.

I mean. Danny Craig bond blows this shit out of the fricking water.

Not a joke at all friend.

There is very little here in Bourne: acting, cinematography, character writing, action choreography, that is anywhere remotely as interesting as the latest Bond Generation.

I'm not going to pretend that Bourne didn't have a significant influence on Danny Craig bond.
Both are clear reactions to Brosnan getting way too campy.
But the shallow emphasis on "realism" is embarrassingly pretentious.
As if there were no color in europe.
As if Bourne were somehow a "more grounded" spy thriller, as he stunts across Paris.
          Silly.

                I guess I'll confess I haven't watched it in a while.

But it felt like a decent end for Craig Bond.
Little retread of "i'm too old for this shit" again, but theres still a coherent sense of progression for him.

Maybe I'll go back through Craig bond after im done with Bourne.

They are. Cruise only took the IP because it was a direct Bond knockoff in the 60's spycraze and a way to get his Bond aspirations out of his system. MI2 is an off-brand Bond movie.

the first bourne movie is one of the few perfect movies. Perfect music, action, casting and story. Not a single second wasted. I guess the last action sequence was not great.
Bond movies arent action movies. Theyre more about wish fulfillment adventure slop. This board loves old bond movies but honestly they aged like milk.
The paris apartment fight scene is literally one of the best action scenes ever made. Bond movies look like saturday morning cartoons in comparison

All Cinemaphile readers should be hip to the fact that the Bourne movies are woke Bond - anti-James Bond in fact. The villains are always his bosses, rather than foreign actors. He feels guilt about hurting people. These films condemn patriotism, capitalism, misogyny, violence, and many other hallmarks of Bond and conservatism.
