i'm not very contrarian on Dunc, i think both films are decent, but it's getting such praise is unreal
although i hold the same opinion about several Spielberg films that are highly praised, like Jaws, E.T. and Jurassic Park for example are good but not holy frick what a masterpiece good
Duel and Close Encounters of The Third Kind are amazing tho
I think Spielberg knows that right now Hollywood is hungry for directors who can generate box office and that's why he praises Dennis.Dennis is fricking sour and soulless in dunc.
he's a shrewd company man
so of course he's going to prop up a like-minded hack yes man who shits out mediocre slop for the masses
it's a safe bet for a dope like him
by contrast you'll never see him say anything positive about PTA or Refn, because those guys are making actual art and to a guy like him and his corporate backers that's a big no no
Can you gays just go back to your discord and goon cave and jerk each other off instead of coming here?
why did you quote me, i wasn't even shitting on Dunc or Denis, i literally said i think it's a decent film
also this is not your personal echo chamber
go jerk off to Pokemon porn now, shoo shoo

Correct. Spielberg is a fricking studio tool now. Just look at how he praises Indiana Jones 5. It is also worth noting how he does not let the Jurassic Park franchise rest for a single second.
Didn't he basically kill Megan Fox's career forever because she ticked him off once? Guess the two big rules in Hollywood is 1) never piss off israelites collectively via anti-semitism (perceived or otherwise, i.e. you take issue with even one aspect of Israel) and 2) don't piss off Spielberg the man. Some overlap between the two, of course.
i know Cinemaphile hates the aesthetic of Dunc, but i like the brutalism
it's just that the films are obviously an artistic compromise overall, which holds me back from saying they're anything more than decent
Villeneuve's Canadian films are very good, Prisoners is also excellent
>Prisoners is also excellent
its one of the ugliest most mean spirited slogs I've ever seen
I regret wasting my time on it honestly
I'd be genuinely concerned about anyone who admitted to liking anything denis has done
dude has a bad energy about him
>Cinemaphile hates the aesthetic of Dunc
Cinemaphile hates Black folk, see how everyone loves Blade runner 2049 just because it has an ai waifu. You are moronic if you think the opinion of people here is worth a single shit
it's arguably more important than skill, talent or ability
I've experienced it firsthand
these guys can't stand great scripts with a vision
it points out what talentless buttholes they really are
Tarantino made a comment to that effect. I remember he said something like he "wasn't allowed to speak badly about recent movies" It would be better to speak badly about films released ten years ago so as not to hurt anyone and not impact in any way.
>Tarantino
right, that bastion of renegade indie filmmaking
dudes been getting blank checks for 30 years dipshit

the producers and corporate suits are the system
Uno Farto and other directors are the slaves to the system
and he said that indeed, because of his dependence on studios he isn't allowed to badmouth shit

wtf does Nolan has to do with the discussion
that he's not some renegade indie filmmaker
he's literally always been a company stooge

nah you guys all just talk like such mealy mouthed gays it's impossible to catch your meaning on anything

who said this? the anon was saying that Uno Farto just shed a light on the fact that directors dependent on huge studios aren't allowed to badmouth other thing

Are you moronic? He’s agreeing with you.

He used to do that. He shit all over Drive. I think maybe it was PTA that convinced him not to. PTA says he never ever criticizes a peers work because it isn’t helpful. Apparently.
I watched the cam rip basically because I didn't care enough to go watch it myself because my friends were all over the place with their many separate bookings and I've read the book twice, so I sort of wonder how different the cinema IMAX experience makes. I was fine with the movie via camrip. Nothing to make me obsess over it.
I saw it in IMAX for free because I had a casino voucher. Arrakis has some awful CGI, the scene in the thunderdome looked terrible, but the end fight scene and the sand worm riding largely looked ok. It's still an incredibly soulless paint by numbers film. That's somewhat expected because Dune isn't exactly War and Peace. It's a Young Adult novel. Still, I kept imagining how much better Dune would be in the hands of someone like Mel Gibson who can imbue a classic coming of age story with emotional depth. All of Villeneuve's films lack tension because he prioritizes style over substance and his style is not for everyone.
It's funny how it off all the "Golden Boys" (Spielberg, Lucas, Scorsese, Coppola) everyone has been run out of town and become a recluse that bemoans the state of the industry and the hopeless future of young filmmakers except for the one that's a israelite who's now a billionaire and telling you: "Go consume, Got. It has seal of approval!"
lmao, Lucas has literally been simping for Iger and Disney
Scorsese shits on capeshit, but likes other modern filmmakers, he praised fricking Ari Aster of all people and said he was inspired by his films when pacing Killers of the Flower Moon
Coppola sure, he self financed Megalopolis because studios didn't want to take the risk, and that's with Coppola having a whole clan in Hollywood
Chalamet ruins the film. Once you realize he has the same voice, mannerisms, and acting abilitie as Nicholas Cage you can't unsee it. Also would it kill him to put on some muscle if were supposed to believe he is an elite fighter?
Come on Steven, no it isn’t.

you're still cringe on thinking this is some echo chamber

Oh yes I remember that. She compared Michael Bay to Hitler and Spielberg didn't like that.

An AI waifu who happens to be Ana de Armas
this is literally the I support current thing meme
It seems to me that there is an implicit agreement among people who work in Hollywood that they kiss each other's dicks for the good of the industry.
