Disagree, obvious trolls are much worse and more cringe - something like the movies made by eceleb reviewers that try to make themselves immune from criticism by being "intentionally bad", Breen's movies in contrast are much more sincere

Yep I had a feeling. I've seen you do this gay shit before. Second you lose you start seething and repeating the same text with every single reply.
The Neighbors was Tommy's attempt at making a legitimate sitcom akin to The Office or Parks & Rec. Some morons thought he was just shitposting and cashing in on being a hack, but it came off as a genuine attempt to make a comedy series by a heavily braindamaged man.
I don’t know, I’m pretty sure it was him leaning into making something “so bad it’s good” after seeing that everyone was laughing at the room
If no one paid attention to the room I’m sure he’d just try making another series movie
I disagree. I think Big Shark could be that, but Neighbors was Tommy thinking "Maybe I'm better suited to comedy" and then actually trying to helm a comedy series.
To this day I don't think he understands why his movie is popular. He doesn't strike me as self aware enough.

I think he knows on some level but it is hard to admit that people are really only just laughing at what an idiot you are and that is the only reason they like you so he probably deludes himself in some way

I met Tommy Wiseau at a screening once. He clearly knows why his movie is popular, and while a certain part of not admitting it is simple pride, he struck me as being smart enough to play along with what people expect of him to keep the money coming in. More than anything he just seemed happy that his creation was still bringing people joy, seemed sincerely happy that people were so excited to meet him. His hand was very cold and clammy, pretty weak handshake tbh

>His hand was very cold and clammy
He's a literal vampire, so this isn't a surprise.
Julie & Jack and Birdemic are terrible yes, but as you said they were sincere. The point is that so is Neil Breen's work. Neil's too autistic and conceiterd to be anything but 100% serious about what he does. I'm pretty sure he's even deluded himself into thinking he's beloved unironically, with lines like "No more books!" being iconic one-liners in the vein of "Yipee ki-yay motherfricker."
Did anybody ever buy that course he was selling?
I've seen enough genuine non-trolling non-baiting actual schizo lunatic moron loser incel virgins on Cinemaphile to know that they exist in real life as well and the Breen is probably somewhere on that spectrum.
His movies have a pretty good message about unshackling yourself from oppression and they are overall positive. Better than degenerate Hollywood shit anyway
It is astounding how this man has made the exact same plot six times in a row and cultivated a post ironic millennial fanbase out of it. Watching more than one of his films is legit CIA Guantanamo torture.
> The one where he’s a hacker is actually funny
Every green film as him as a hacker or some bullshit god like messiah figure. The dude is deluded beyond belief and his fanbase will probably lead him to creating his own heavens gate or something.
Oh frick, there’s a new one? > An identical twin restores an old mental asylum. He takes it upon himself to mystically train the patients as warriors for humanity and justice.
Wait, did I see this one?
The theater manager at the place I went to told a quick story before the movie of talking to Neil on the phone about screening the movie and he said Neil kept stressing that he makes legitimate feature films and not midnight cult films.
>"Cade: The Tortured Crossing" is a film that defies easy categorization. It is a work of bold, uncompromising vision, and one that will challenge and provoke audiences in equal measure. Director and lead actor Neil Breen has crafted a film that is both deeply personal and yet speaks to universal truths about the human condition.
>Breen's performance as Cade is nothing short of extraordinary. He brings a raw intensity and vulnerability to the role, capturing every emotion with a depth and nuance that is truly remarkable. His direction is equally impressive, as he creates a cinematic world that is at once beautiful and haunting, with a sense of mystery and danger lurking around every corner.
>But what truly sets "Cade: The Tortured Crossing" apart is its willingness to grapple with difficult, complex themes. The film tackles issues of identity, trauma, and the nature of reality itself in a way that is both thought-provoking and deeply moving. It is a film that demands your attention and rewards it in spades.
>The supporting cast is equally impressive, with standout performances from Sarah Parker as Cade's love interest and Jack Thompson as his mentor. The film's score is haunting and beautiful, perfectly complementing the visuals and performances to create a truly immersive experience.
>In the end, "Cade: The Tortured Crossing" is a film that will stay with you long after the credits have rolled. It is a testament to the power of independent cinema, and a reminder of why we go to the movies in the first place. With its stunning visuals, powerhouse performances, and fearless storytelling, this is a film that deserves a perfect score of 10 out of 10 stars. Don't miss it.
Doesn't this edge into bulling an autistic adult territory?
No, he’s making shit movies and writing them off as losses and hiring prostitutes in all other roles so he can write off prostitutes as business expenses/losses.
Having seen Twisted Pair, it's kind of obvious he's doing it as a joke.
There's way too many things that were obviously funny and presented as such. And even if he got some complete amateur to do his editing and compositing it would not look as purposefully bad as it appears in the movie.
His entire shtick is that he's making movies with the same aesthetic as early CD games with janky FMV cutscenes.
I swing back and forth between thinking it's all a gag and thinking it's sincere every 5 minutes when I watch anything he's made, but I lean towards agreeing with you anon
Do you like Neil Breen? His early work was a little too logical for my tastes, but when twisted pair came out in '18, I think Neil really came into his own, commercially and artistically. The whole movie has a terrible, confusing plot, and a new sheen of complete incompetence that really gives the scenes a big boost. He's been compared to Ed Wood, but I think Breen has a far more baffling, nonsensical sense of film direction.
Maybe, but it IS art in any case
woman top right is tanking roundhouse kicks to the face
This is as good as the airport fight from Captain America's Civil War
He makes a modest living out of his movies, the question is does he care that people are laughing at him?
No he doesn't, he's a realtor or something.
He's trolling you. His movies are the most obvious trolls ever.
Disagree, obvious trolls are much worse and more cringe - something like the movies made by eceleb reviewers that try to make themselves immune from criticism by being "intentionally bad", Breen's movies in contrast are much more sincere
Birdemic 2 was an obvious troll. You strike me as the same brand of morons who think Wiseau's The Neighbors wasn't sincere.
>The Neighbors
Do you mean The Room? He's only made two movies (one released this year - Big Shark)
He made a show

Agreed but even Birdemic and his other early films are awful despite their sincerity

his movies are unironically more sincere expressions than 99% of movies that are made with a formula.
One expression mostly.
The one where he’s some cyber twin robot god angel put me to sleep
>The one where he’s a hacker is actually funny
That doesn't narrow things down at all.
The one that’s starts with “WHAT A MAGICAL DAY… WHAT A MAGCIAL DAY!!”
I still don’t know why he made her say it twice
same movie also has the "I'm the president of the bank" sequence which almost killed me
his movies are insane
I almost want to say that's I Am Here..... Now
fateful findings has the "magical day" part
Ahh gotcha. I always get those two mixed up.
> The one where he’s a hacker is actually funny
Every green film as him as a hacker or some bullshit god like messiah figure. The dude is deluded beyond belief and his fanbase will probably lead him to creating his own heavens gate or something.
If they were gonna do that he'd have already started by now. Clearly he's trying to start a cult and that's part of what makes his movies hilarious.
This films are inherently more watchable than shit like Julie and Jack
How is he funding these movies? I don’t see these selling that well
Is he just spending all his real estate money on this?
I saw Cade: The Tortured Crossing in a full theater earlier this year
Oh frick, there’s a new one?
> An identical twin restores an old mental asylum. He takes it upon himself to mystically train the patients as warriors for humanity and justice.
Wait, did I see this one?
It's a direct sequel to his last one
Frick, I need to watch it, no torrents yet though
He's working on the pay to order site for it most likely. Only way to get torrents is from those straight physical rips from there.
Was it good? I love how it looks in trailers honestly, looks like a FMV game from the 90s
It's amazing
Frick, I wish I saw this in theaters, what's the point of coming on Cinemaphile if this didn't get a sticky to let me know
holy mother of KINO.
The theater manager at the place I went to told a quick story before the movie of talking to Neil on the phone about screening the movie and he said Neil kept stressing that he makes legitimate feature films and not midnight cult films.
I've read he refuses to screen his movies alongside The Room
Porn-tier budget and a small following can generate some decent profits.
>from 4.0 to 7.5
Is he actually a good director?
Yes
>It's not every day I write a review.

He's a very unique filmmaker, that's for sure.
