British radio/tv shows always sucked

We never had any good radio shows, let alone radio shows that were also broadcast on TV. We never had anything good like Stern, Rush Limbaugh, Alex Jones, Opie and Anthony or anyone fun and interesting like that. I wonder why.

This plebbit post about local stations reflects how the large nationwide stations are too. Not sure why they had to specify local as they are ALL this bad.

You mean Ricky Gervais on XFM, I said that was the only exception. Compare that to the US that has like 100 great radio shows. Your coping is sad.

I'm American and I used to listen to bbc frequently until they totally buggered the website so you can't find anything anymore.

What did you listen to? I'm guessing not BBC Radio 1, as they just play the same mainstream songs any other station would play

BBC2 had some good docs altho eventually I realized they were all rather cut and paste. I was relatively new to classical and jazz so BBC3 was interesting. I still listen to Record Review once in a while. BBC4 was even interesting back before streaming video became reliable. Also, you have to understand that American radio is such a cultural wasteland that listening to something like an intellectual discussion hosted by melvyn bragg was a novelty.

What blackmail material did Chris Evans have on the BBC during that time where they constantly sucked his dick?
Most of the other omnipresent presenters I get, but not him

The XFM show with ricky, steve and karl is genuinely one of the greatest pieces of media ever made.
There's a good reason a low budget radio show from 20 years ago has a rather large following.

They were dotted about, they're just less memorable because they weren't immortalised through being recorded for the most part. Graham Torrington's Late Night Love for example was quite spicy and a very comfy listen back in the late 90s (I'm old). Reality is though the US was always going to have more because it's a much bigger country.

Opie and Anthony was only good when they had comedians on like Patrice or Louis CK
