It's depressing that as cool as they are all martial arts including boxing are completely worthless in an actual real 1 on 1 situation. All it comes down to determine the winner is who's heavier, ie who's taller. I'm 6'3 so most of the time I'm not worried about potential conflict, but if I ever catch hands with someone who's just an inch taller, it's ova.

Let's actually give credit where credit is due: Lee was an actor and an untested but trained fighter. He would very likely kick any average Joe's ass. Would he beat a trained UFC fighter? Not a chance. Was Lee a special physical specimen? Yes, particularly for his time he was extremely fit and fast. Was he a fighter? No. Actor first, fighter second. Did Lee have ANY fights? Some, but nothing truly to modern standards.

Bruce did have some understanding of the effectiveness of grappling skills after infamously getting his ass whooped by Gene Lebell. This is the reason for the grappling demonstrated in the opening sparring session of Enter the Dragon. Bruce wasn't stupid. He just died before he could fully integrate grappling into his style, though he had already begun the process.
He was an actual fighter but weight classes exist for a reason, dude weighed like 120lbs. Aside from that he was an entertainer so most of his training went towards visually impressive techniques not combat effective techniques.

Some, but nothing truly to modern standards.

Bruce definitely had a fighting spirit and was way too proud to go down without a fight. Even just having his bad attitude is an advantage in and of itself. I don't know who the gay on the left is, or if he has any MMA experience, but I think that Bruce could hold his own against a middle tier featherweight kickboxer, and he'd wipe the floor with most feather weight kick boxers of his day. Grapplers would snap him in half, but that's the result of modern knowledge that wasn't widely understood back in the 1960's. Bruce did have some understanding of the effectiveness of grappling skills after infamously getting his ass whooped by Gene Lebell. This is the reason for the grappling demonstrated in the opening sparring session of Enter the Dragon. Bruce wasn't stupid. He just died before he could fully integrate grappling into his style, though he had already begun the process.
