He just needs to drop the ear ring, shave the goatee, and grow some hair, then he will look a little bit like Static but I am certainly afraid that he may be a little too old for the role.

As a dreadlocks chad, all he needs to do is lock up his hair now, and keep the sides faded. Instant Static.

It's common practice for adults in their early 20s to play 14-18 year olds, Static is 14-16 years old depending on the property, so it's alright.

I'd say it's less his acting abilities and more that his face doesn't look like some sort of sideshow attraction. Finn Wolfhard aged into a salad fingers motherfricker and Gaten Matarazzo was born that way so you knew what you were getting in season 1. Noah Snap looks fairly normal and can act, so he's in the top half of the group with Caleb McLaughlin. of course they're all better than that chud Charlie Heaton

I disagree. I liked Lucas in season 1 because he was the straight man counter to Dustin and rounded out the original quartet of kids. The problem is that as the cast grew other characters filled that role or others and he was left being informed by his dynamic with Max. Hate to say it but I feel like he devolved into the token black kid.

Token black kid doesn’t get the girl though. Do he’s not a token in that respect.

Frick you, I love Static because the show and original comics were great. Also Static was the first black cartoon superhero I remember seeing at the tender age of 5 years old, I didn't watch Justice League and see John Stewart until a few years later, so he was inspiring to me. Cinemaphile doesn't love static, they love using static as a shield against accusations of racism. But when you actually try and point out facts like yes, the cops were responsible for the big bang in both the 90s comic and the cartoon, people will call you a liar because either they've memory holed the entire franchise, or never consumed it to begin with.

Bullshit. The only difference is that it’s entirely PC for corporations to show people being openly gay, etc. in media today, so now people have to try and come up with all kinds of mental gymnastics and dogwhistles to whine about gays “because it’s not earnest” anymore, as if big media corporations are ever fricking earnest about what they produce. Trying to do stupid purity tests like that is fundamentally inane.

It could be decent if it's done well, I'd be cautiously optimistic about this in the same way that I am with the Blue Beetle stuff we've been seeing.

The one thing I'm really afraid of is then ruining a character like Static by leaning too hard into current year teenage bullshit like TikTok as so many other series with teen protagonists do. I'd almost like to see it done as a period piece set in the 90s or early 00s to avoid that and recapture that vibe that the old comics or the cartoon had, but I know that's just wishful thinking.

The cops were immediately in riot gear, beat up women and journalists and shot tear gas at people when they protested the overturning of Roe last weekend. Cops in 2020 also indiscriminately shot rubber bullets and sprayed pepper spray at random people from moving cars. Cops will do whatever the frick they feel like, and if they've got new toys they will want to use them.

WB new owners have mandated that HBOMAX movies don't have a budget more than 35 mil. Not sure if the movie will look good with that budget, let's see if they can get a director that can work with that budget without it looking cheap.

I heard a rumor that the movie will start filming next year and the movie will be out in 2024. If that's true we should be having casting news soon.

Just asking a question, is there any particular reason for not using a white actor?

Yeah, they should've just cast Tom Holland in blackface.

      Clearly bait, don't bite it

Who’s the best love interest for Static?

Daisy? Frieda? Madison? Plus? Rocket? Dusk?

Daisy is comfy for me, as a black guy whose been around nerdy white and black women his whole life, there's just something about a Daisy, you know? Then again, I like israeli redheads so Frieda is up there too.

Frieda is the best love interest cause she makes Static grow as a person.

Plus she’s the second hottest next to stuck up Madison.

Daisy, Dusk and Plus were hit in their own way though,

Richie is the gay one you idiot. I hope they have Richie as a masc gay nerd (Rick Stone wasn't really too masculine but he wasn't that feminine either, and Richie from the cartoon was closeted due to standards and practices).

didn't DC make static shock's new origin with him being a gay teen who got his powers during a BLM protest? sounds absurd but I remember the thread when it happened

          Rich is gay.
Not Static anon. His love interests are Frieda, Dusk, Daisy, Madison, Rocket and Plus.

The original milestone, then at the end he upgrades to the season 3+ black shirt version from the show.

From season 1 of the show. Its simple enough that a teenager can come up with and iconic

I prefer the upgraded version to the original, but I agree.
