CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD First Look

>”Part of the challenge for Sam as Captain America, working within the government, is the way he’s going to make decisions,” teases director Julius Onah. “The point of view he’s going to have will at times put him at odds with the President.” It will also – more literally – put him at odds with Tim Blake Nelson’s Samuel Sterns, aka The Leader, introduced way back in 2008’s THE INCREDIBLE HULK about to take on a monstrous new form. “Sam finds himself almost standing between Sterns and what he thinks the government owes him, and how he wants to go about getting that,” Onah says.

>The biggest difference, though? Sam doesn’t have the supersoldier serum that made Steve Rogers such a formidable fighting force. Even with his military training, Avenger credentials, Vibranium shield and wing-pack, the odds are even more stacked against this Brave New Cap. “The action in this movie is incredibly exciting because this is a guy who can break, this is a guy who can bleed a lot,” says Onah. “We get to have a lot of fun pushing him to the limit. This is his coming-out show. So let’s put him through the paces."

They should have just made a good Falcon and Winter Soldier movie instead of drawing it out into a pointless TV show and then doing whatever this is. Have both of them realize there's no point in living up to Cap and become their own men or something, but I guess then you can't sell toy shields anymore

        Anonymous

this probably would have been decent.
the show wasn't great, but the falcon/winter soldier buddy road trip concept had potential and could've been condensed down to an okay movie that's better than all the other shit they've put out the last few years.

It was directed by a woman. It was directed by a woman who equates superheroes to "first responders". She's not a man, she's never had the idle fantasy of defending loved ones from an foreign threat and she doesn't know dick about superherodom or a man's call to duty or desire to serve. So of course she got everything fricking wrong. She doesn't understand how men talk to each other. How men relax around one another. She had Bucky and Blacky looking like there were seconds from dicking each other down as Bucky hands him the shield going "I'm sorry! The leader of the Avengers, the guy everyone fricking loves, he didn't know any better! He sucks! We can't live up to his legacy! Everything is too hard!"

So fricking gay dude. Women have no business writing this shit. They have nothing to say beyond
        >Don't roll the dice and hit on me when I'm at a bar! I'm one in a million and you'll never see me again but you're either not my type or your interest confirms that I'm not that great! Waah!
        >Listen to my ideas! Weh! You don't have autonomy over me! Wah!
Like, shut the frick up dude. No one wants that energy channeled on screen. That's how you get that atrocious purple haired jackass in that Star Wars movie that no one likes or respects but the group of morons that came up with that gay concept.

        >Yeah! Let's have an unattractive woman dress down the protagonist the audience is supposed to get behind! That'll...please the audience!

I'm looking forward to this movie. Not because I think it's going to be good necessarily, but because it's already been a massive shitshow and I'm wondering how much worse it's going to get.
The last we heard about the reshoots, it was going nowhere, and Anthony Mackie was so pissed, he was throwing chairs and yelling at people on set.

The sources I read were here and on twitter. It was about a month and a half ago so I don't have a link I can give you, unfortunately. We know for sure that they tested the movie and it apparently was horrible.
The story then is that they got together for reshoots but no one has a clue what to even shoot, so the whole crew and cast members are there on set just standing around. This went on for weeks, apparently.

sounds pretty normal for modern hollywood

  21. 2 weeks ago
    Anonymous

Only the dipshits in charge of the MCU could produce an entire TV show featuring Blacktain America that revolved entirely around people being able to get hold of supersoldier serum again and decide they *weren't* going to give him any.

I don't mind Mackie, I don't mind Black Cap(Buckie Cap would have been *better* but whatever), but literally the whole point of Cap is that the serum gives a man with the *personality and morality* to endure anything for the sake of defending the little guy and to do The Right Thing the *ability* to back that attitude up - they exaggerate it with Steve to make the point, but Real Cap is so far beyond a normal human that whether you're starting with normal human or skinny weak normal human makes no odds: Just Some Guy isn't powerful enough to be Captain America. A literal teenage boy who got bit by a spider with a shitty pajama suit he made himself has more strength and agility than Black Cap. It's just dumb.

Replacing Steve with a black dude is an insult to racists, but replacing Steve with a normal bloke with no actual superpowers and then expecting people to believe he can still behave like Steve did and win the kind of fights Steve won is an insult to the intelligence of the entire audience.

We have reached a point where a Punisher movie by current year Marvel would probably be as terrible as the Marvels because they're so intent on neutering or distorting the character to be compatible with their agenda. This means Jon Bernthal going exclusively after CIA spooks and weird fundamentalist Christian billionaires instead of gangs, terrorists, and random thugs on the street like he did briefly in Daredevil
          >that time he spared a literal CP maker in his own show because the girl asked him to

It's like James Bond where the originally conceived protagonist's globetrotting, womanizing, weird villain/crazy gadget adventures are no longer viable for Hollywood and they basically make it into Bourne in a tuxedo

            >We have reached a point where a Punisher movie by current year Marvel would probably be as terrible as the Marvels because they're so intent on neutering or distorting the character to be compatible with their agenda
They can write as many checks to RDJ and Evans and Johansson as they want. The public will reject actions/characters being used as a shitty mouth pieces. If the quality of writing stays at Eternals/Marvels/She-Hulk level where everything is "woman first" then why the frick would anyone give money just because an old character is coming back?

Han Solo got fricked up in Star Wars. This company cares nothing for legacy. Tony Stark'll come back and have his daughter cry about how while he still saved literally everyone he wasn't there for her so he's a shitty dad for playing superhero or something else (You know, the Cassie from Ant-Man defense) as equally contrived/utterly baffling that it makes women go "Yeah!" and make men go "Why the FRICK would you introduce THIS as conflict to carry a film?"

Superhero movies should be fun. Not fricking girl power shit fests.

What a weird choice to cast Harrison Ford in this. Should have just gotten Sam Elliot. He played the same character in Ang Lee's Hulk back in 2003 and would gladly keep the mustache, most of the sheep probably wouldn't even notice it's a different actor from the previous films. He's definitely cheaper than Ford and probably easier to work with, he's also slightly younger and less likely to die right away.

The guy never thought much of Marvel in the first place, judging from certain interviews, but now he's been thrust into the spotlight, given these impossible boots to fill, and now his first big movie is this reshoot-ridden mess at a time when everyone's turned on the MCU
