sounds kino and Quentin had actual reverence for Fleming unlike Barbara who spits on his work.

The world would be a better place if Cubby Broccoli had a son instead of a daughter

He did, albeit a step son. Michael G Wilson who wrote the two Dalton masterworks and he still gave it to his baby girl. Cubby doomed the series and it's all on him.

This is that movie where her husband dies and is reborn as a little boy right?

I feel like you'd have to be a pedo to want to make a film like this. My reasoning is that a non-pedo would be too embarrassed to put this idea to film, even if he or she only had artistic ideas in mind. A pedo though would be driven by pedolust and thus would not care.

You HAVE to be a pedo/homo/evil person to make it in the movie business, unfortunately.

Casino and Die Another Day were 4 years apart, close to 5.
The last Dalton movie and the first Brosnan movie were even further apart. These things take time anon.

Radically different circumstances. Plus, Barbara publicly came out and said they are not working on anything and haven't even begun work while in those two instances work never stopped on the next installment.

He was alright as Bond but Craig sold the "action star" part better. Watching Die Another Day as a kid, Pierce is basically some WASP dad who somehow got himself into a pickle.
It's like watching Chis Hansen go around be an MI6 agent. I think it's a boomer appeal first and foremost.

Craig? The homosexual theater actor they wasted millions to get up to shape when they could have just went with Pierce or someone else instead who was more seasoned in action? I swear, this place is just bots.

          Anonymous

He was already in decent shape by Tomb Raider, I doubt they spent "millions".
One thing Bond actors have traditionally lacked up until Dalton and going forward was well choregraphed kinetic action that doesn't directly involve car stunts, explosions and shit like that.
A sense of danger to Bond himself. The Dalton movies started leaning into this because they took themselves more seriously, then the Bronsnan movies were a mixture of old and new, and the Craig movies were the most serious of them all.

            Anonymous

Craig could have been good IF they went full clean slate and went all the way with the Jason Bourne/post 9/11 aesthetic which only lasted for 2 movies. Then, they made nothing but dumbass nostalgia bait. They tried to make him act like Brosnan or Connery and it didn't work. They never made a movie about Islamic terrorism, financial fraud on a massive scale, African civil war, Colombian drug wars of the 2010's, none of that LE ULTRA REALISM stuff plus recast Judi Dench for frick's sake. If they had the balls to stick with their convinction, I would have liked Daniel Craig's movies but they backtracked massively and made nothing but derivative slop without any of the soul, the worst offender being Spectre.

Exactly what I am saying, at least go all the way with the Jason Bourne shit and maybe some kino can come out of it. They couldn't so they settled for the worst option: be subversive and dark but also have member berries and rip off older Bond movies which created intense tonal dissonance and made for some truly awful movies.

Despite his age, the director preferred him because he was more of a clean slate and they could make him look way older. He saw the potential for Henry to be doing Bond movies for 20 years plus. But Barbara was obsessed with Craig and strongarmed Campbell to go with him due to being the boss sadly. He didn't get along with Craig at all and left despite wanting to do more Bond. Cavill could have been Bond into the 2030's.

    Henry Cavill, actually.

    1. Cast him and alter some of Bond's backstory to make sense of his youth but he'd look older with new regiment and workout
    2. Keep the poker angle but cast Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Le Chiffre or Vincent d'nOfrio instead of wasting Mads
    3. Keep Eva Green, she and Cavill would have great chemistry
    4. Recast Judi Dench with someone else, man or woman (preferably man)
    5. don't make Felix Leiter black, cast Josh Lucas or someone else popular at the time
    6. Keep it accurate even with changing the game to poker
    7. Cut down on the action in the final third act and make it more of a character drama like the novel
    8. Don't include Mr. White at all or any of that shit, actually hint at SMERSH
    9. Adapt the novels but with different names and updated stories that take inspiration from it, like LALD is about African civil wars, Moonraker is about the modern space race and adapt that story from start to finish in one long continuous arc. You end it with YOLT and maybe cast Mads as a modern Blofeld.
    10. You both have a Bond you could use for 20 years and made dark and gritty movies that are one story without pissing off legacy fans
    11. don't bring up that Bond and Blofeld are brothers
    12. Kick Barbara Broccoli out of EON

It just sounds way too exaggerated, is all. I don't doubt it's true they were together but the fact is the guy is clearly a flamer. Flamers do tend to be guys who are effeminate in their status as in it's easy for them to get puss that they just break and go puff. Craig seems like this plus if he was an animal in bed, it follows he's a tough male, right? Yet, he says he goes to gay bars because he's afraid of fights with normal men.

There are at least 2 people that get extremely offended and start a lengthy cope argument any time someone marks they like Daniel Craig as bond, like this poster

This was a clear puff piece to boost his name around the time of the casting. It's been debunked years now.

Central to Casino Royale is Craig's Bond being relatively inexperienced. Keeping the script as it basically was and just swapping out Craig for Brosnan would make Brosnan Bond would not fit the mature and experience Bond Brosnan should have become by that point - he has a completely different relationship with M; his approach to Vesper in general and his response to her betrayal would be different. A Brosnan Casino Royale would, or at least should, be a completely different story to the point you may as well not make it be Casino Royale - if anything this could be a film where you explore what it is to be an aging spy. On the related subject, I see people say Cavill would have been better in the role than Craig; it would have made little difference as Cavill would still be working with the same script(s) and approach to Bond by the wider creative team assembled.

It can't work. His best movie was written for Dalton (FYEO) and even then, Sir Roger believed in fun and adventure. Not making it serious.

          Anonymous

Roger was a fun guy behind the scenes, easily the most charming in my book. But I really don't care for most of his Bond movies aside from the last one.

I like them all, especially Moonraker but yeah, Cubby should have taken the hint and cast Dalton after that movie but Roger was too beloved in the role and they didn't feel like risking it. If you've seen The Saint, his James Bond becomes way better if you treat them as Saint movies than James Bond which was the approach Roger preferred. Myself, I'm of course a Daltonchad but hold nothing but love for Sir Roger.

He's about 18 years late, the last Bond movie was like 2 years ago already.
On the other hand, it's a shame we don't have a Heath Ledger schizo to go along with this. I remember both castings were causing butthurt at the time.

His casting and his last movie has permanently destroyed the franchise and left in a state of irrelevance. Obviously, when there's NOTHING else to talk about, people will just revert back to shitting (justifiably) on Craig. Barbara has put the franchise on permanent hold due to Craig not returning for more.

You're absolutely delusional. The franchise is alive and well and the vast majority of people hold it in good regard.

No Time To Die lost a 100 million dollars for MGM and EON. It's been 5 years since the last movie wrapped up and no Bond replacement or anything. James Bond was killed in the last movie. The only 007 media to be released since is some game show with the logo slapped on it that no one watched. It's not quite Dark Fate but it's pretty damn close.

Learn how to type like an actual white person and not an Ugandan scammer.

How can the franchise be destroyed when the post-2000 movies were successful both critically and financially?
Seems to me like you're just not fond of the new grounded approach. You might like The Man from U.N.C.L.E. better. It was closer to the Moore Bond formula. But it was also a tremendous box office failure, so you can't really blame Hollywood for not going with that approach.

No Time To Die didn't even come close to breaking even and was a massive failure with the costs it had. Man from UNCLE was poorly marketed and a niche IP. If they released the same movie but made it about James Bond, it'd be massive. Movies now have gone back to fun and adventure even at the cost of pozz so yeah back then it didn't work but now it clearly does which is why they should be making a new James Bond movie ASAP but are not and Babs said they haven't even BEGUN to PLAN the next Bond. If that's not a sign she's completely given up on Bond, nothing is.

If every movie that made 700+ million was considered a failure, studios wouldn't invest nearly as much money in these projects. You don't realize how the business works. They want to make a profit first and foremost.

whats interesting about this exercise is you can imagine just how differently the scenes would have been filmed

even brosnan on the water in the beginning, he'd be on a boat or something or working with some scuba gear

every craig shot is 'look at this intense cool looking english brute, dont you want to dress like him'

every brosnan shot is 'goddamn james bond is fly as hell, my god'

Lethality isn't just the ability to shoot someone. I could imagine Craig's Bond killing someone with his bare hands. Not so with Brosnan. Though overall I do prefer Brosnan's tenure overall due to the sheer shittiness of the last two Craig films.

You're not wrong. There's nuances to both that are strengths and weaknesses but most of this discussion usually boils down to "old good new bad".
If I were to compile the perfect Bond series, I would cut a few of the movies out entirely, including some of the old ones.
