I've seen some people defend this with "Oh they change the sketches sometimes up to the last minute." doesn't change the fact that with a week of writing and rehearsals they don't remember the entire beats. I can understand guests doing it, this isn't their job they do week after week for a large chunk of the year.
For the main cast it's not an excuse.
