What other good comic book youtube channels are there, that aren't obsessed with any sort of culture wars but just talk about comics?

Noah Van Sciver and The Comics Cube for more interviews with creators.
Strange Brain Parts and Strip Panel Naked make some nice videos.
This may seem sexist, but I don't watch anything with a woman speaking on comics, or anything with a """nerd""" tuber.
Those all look pretty good.
And yeah, not interested at all about "nerd culture" approach either so I appreciate you avoided that kinda shit.
I haven't watched Comic Book Historians except for the Howard Chaykin interview (audio only). Good stuff.
This is the one where he says despite hating Grant Morrison, he really liked All-Star Superman. Some of their other interviews seem to have video, but it's really about the audio anyway.
There's also The Jack Kirby Museum and Research Center.
Some interesting names in that CBH channel. I hope the interviews are cool.
Thanks
SBP is a massive gay
STP I also agree with also underrated is this guy
https://www.youtube.com/@derekwc8884/videos but it's more about film/TV still good however and funny he did an video shitting on Linkara before everyone else.
https://www.youtube.com/@FizzFop1/videos this guy good too.
OP specifically said not obsessed with culture war
Which one are you talking about? Are you confusing Noah Van Sciver with Ethan Van Sciver?
Poor Noah is probably getting glossed over by a bunch of people because of that other c**t.
OP here, and when I first read it I was gonna dismiss it, 'cause I read "youtube" and "Van Sciver" and automatically made the wrong assumption.
Also, I am aware of the limitations of the CK guys. Watching/reading other people's reviews/essays doesn't mean you don't have to do your own homework. Once you get to know a reviewer, you learn to take what's of value to you and what you can just ignore. Some people here seem to just want to be told "how it is".
He said Noah, you moron
Nothing else?
Earl Grey
For the Love of Comics
These seem good too. How come none of this shit show up on my feed and it's all "WHY COMIC BOOKS TODAY SUCK?" or "MARVEL DESTROYED THIS CHARACTER".
Well there's a difference between loving a medium vs loving a brand, most comic Youtubers are just Wednesday warriors who love a brand.
I like For The Love Of Comics but I wish his style and video formats where better.
you forgot: pic unrelated
Nope, pic pretty much related. It's one of the best out there, even if only for their interviews.
>one of the best out there
>run by two people who both can't keep their cuckoldry fetish out of their comics
Forgive my skepticism. Although hey, Hickman has the same fetish and the same inability to keep it out of his comics, but still writes some decent stuff. Maybe I'm not being fair to Piskor and Rugg
You find weird shit if you dig, like I found this guy who talks about random issues of Femforce.
https://www.youtube.com/@antonimobay7334/videos
or this dude talking about Chaos comics lore for some reason
https://www.youtube.com/@Ace_of_The_Reckoning/featured
or this dead channel that was all about Wildstorm.
https://www.youtube.com/@WildstormAddiction/videos
There is a decent channel called The Unintentional Fallacy, but he unlisted his videos.
This is a video where he focuses on one aspect of Dr. Manhattan's powers: how he sees through time.
I was subbed to that guy and I think I unsubbed when he fell off.
https://www.youtube.com/@ImplicitlyPretentious/videos this guy videos I'm conflicted on cuz he talks about some interesting things but most of what he covers is lame and hipster editing is kinda painful.
this two are pushing 50 and use pro wrestling terms lmao so cringe
bro they were literally the prime demographic for pro wrestling when they were kids, that's completely normal. No zoomer likes wrestling. Also, 41 is hardly "pushing 50"
whatever you say,ed piskor
stop milking dragon ball and akira and more USA comics vids in your channel, chop chop or im unsuscribing
Your broke ass isn't subscribing to anything homosexual
subscribing on youtube is free dumbass.
Imagine threatening to unsubscribe from a free service. What an empty threat, homosexual.
one is also a full blown unironic Public Enemy style wigger
>Not a single comics youtuber dedicated to current comics.
>Not a single comics youtuber talking about the current state of things
Boy, I wonder why?
Except there.
So why is it only "grifters" talking about the current state of comics? Surely there is reason only the "grifters" talk about such things. I mean why won't any non "grifters" talk about the current comics situation. Really is a mystery isn't it?
Grifters and shills. No one else cares.
>I mean why won't any non "grifters" talk about the current comics situation.
Because nobody who cares will listen and even if you said something you're just going to get drown out by channels with more followers than sense who pander to sycophants who just want join t he mob.
Anon there's channels of people just talking new issues no political shit, just they have no views.
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=new+comic+reviews
That looks like a quality issue to me and not an issue with comic books. Just look at Matttt's channel. His long form histories on figures in the comic book world get a lotta hits. Single issue reviews need to be better to justify engagement.
Comic Pop looks like sponsored content. Who recommends a Vita Ayala book?
amazing how they had all the answers then stopped responding.
Because when the question of whether or not the content is any good comes around, its instant deflection. Sure, you can get easy clicks with politicrap but actual enthusiasm in modern comics is nonexistent. The fact that a youtube search for "Harley Quinn" doesn't bring up her current ongoing is a testament to this....And the lack of marketing by DC is also suspect.
Whatever your opinion, there's 35 issues in the current run. Surely some fangirl is covering it, right? Right?
He got a response, but he keeps harping on.
>Matttt's channel
His Rodolphe Töpffer and George Herriman videos were somewhat novel in the youtube sphere while the rest are pretty recycled topics.
Manga Chat. Very rarely they talk about manga.
>Very rarely they talk about manga.
That's fricking dumb. Grounds enough to never check out the channel.
No need to get upset over a joke title
I'm not upset.
theres a bunch of griffters youtubers crying about the current state of comics you gay
>MUH GRIFTERS
lol is this Cinemaphile version of MUH NAZIS?
Manga Chat
If you're going to talk manga, it's gotta be Manben.
It's just a name
What are you talking about? What's just a name?
It's a shame that there aren't more comics channels, because I like to listen to comics discussion, but there just aren't many options.
Because modern comics are fricking terrible. Not even Cartoonist Kayfabe wanna talk about modern comics (unless it's obscure indie shit) and they might be the biggest industry shills on israelitetube.
>the biggest industry shills on israelitetube
What makes you say that? Or you're just spewing buzzwords?
Strange Brain Parts (even though he frequently doesn't know what he's talking about)
Comic Belief (even though he has shit taste)
ComicSamurai (most of his videos are collector nonsense, but his "hidden gems" recommendation videos are excellent)
PulpSecret was the very first comics channel on youtube all the way back in like 2007 or 2008 or something. They abandoned that channel before long and switched over to a new channel called ComicBookClub which, incredibly, is still going and they post regularly. Now they're like in their 40s and still posting multiple times a week. They must have genuine passion for this shit, because in all this time they have UTTERLY FAILED to cultivate ANY kind of following. Their videos get double-digit views and it doesn't stop them. They actually have interviews with industry pros, yet it does NOTHING to boost their views. Make of that what you will. But I think they're worth mentioning for being the OGs.
Another "how the frick did this last so long" comics channel was Pete's Basement, which was apparently the SECOND youtube comics channel (after the above mentioned guys). It's a dude from New York named Pete who'd review new comics each Wednesday with him and his friends sitting at a round table in his basement. They were usually about a half hour long and all done in one take with a single camera then uploaded the same day. They started around 2008 or 2009 or thereabouts and continued until the shutdown in 2020. That fricked them over HARD. Without new comics coming out they had nothing to discuss and even once new comics started coming out again they never really got back into the old habits. They tried to keep the channel going with various comics content (mostly interviewing writers and artists of ULTRA OBSCURE indie comics), but they never really had a regular release schedule again. Haven't posted since last year, so it looks like the channel's dead unfortunately.
Also, anyone remember ComicBookGirl19?
>Also, anyone remember ComicBookGirl19?
She's allegedly doing an Akira documentary
For me its comics with perch
Comic Pop is pretty comfy. Also Stephanie is hot
are these the morons who struggled with berserk?
lol hilarious, especially because their comics are TRASH full of cuc-k content
comicpop, specifically back issues
This is a genuinely bad channel. They don’t seem to actually know anything about comics.
They just read Wikipedia. No different than the channels that just read the news.
I own thousands of dollars of floppies, hundreds of dollars of manga, hundreds of dollars of trades and make the things and I just now returned from picking up my pull- a paltry single issue today - and got 2000 pages worth of comics/manga for Christmas alone.
Stop projecting your own disinterest in the topic of the board onto others wienersucker
Pisskor seething
>I own everything
That's incredibly suspect. I don't own everything, couldn't read everything even if tried. That's why people sound stupid when they try to explain stuff they clearly don't know.
>jewtube shill thread
Can't imagine the sheer cognitive dissonance required for this mindset, how very american.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL08AD26AD9CEA3E90
These dudes are too focused on art. They are only able to give surface level criticism on storytelling and that is reflected even in their own works. They should probably start taking some writing courses if they want their stuff to succeed. At least they got the art part down.
Yes, I watch them a lot just because of that. I'm quite well versed on literary "reading" so I don't need any of that.
Besides most other reviews you'd find online, either on video or written are too story driven and basically just make general mentions on whether art is good or not so I appreciate that aspect of their reviews. And I also like their conversational approach, which is much more entertaining than just having the one guy just talking.
Jim Rugg is a blacked KEK.
quick rundown?
anon is referring to rugg's "afrodisiac" book that's inspired by blaxploitation and has a black man running around cucking all the white guy
A good channel, great variety of segments, interviews etc. They have blind spots, they're human. They do focus on art over story. But the triggering they give to the same two or three people on this board is intense. Really parasocial stuff.
Anybody knows any Spanish language ones?
ed pisskor losing his mind ITT KEK
imagine struggling with berserk, you two are moronic as frick lmao
Normal, healthy stuff, man. Coming off really well.
>hey bro this page with hulk looks really cool
>yeah dude look at hulks muscles here
>woah looks like wolverines here too! Sick!
>haha yea this is def influenced by Todd Mcfarlane
This is Kayfabe "Comic discussion"
Why all the seething over some guys that talk about comics? You don't have to watch them, you know.
because these are full of shit and hurt smaller channel
they critic everything but deepthroat rob leibfeld all the time because he gives them gigs in his new shit comics
these two are dishonest, hypocrites and are hurting american comics with ther bias BULLSHIT
Tac au tac was an old French TV show that guest starred legends doodling on big paper. YouTube seems to have taken most of them down.
