No, it would've just felt weird and sad having a 70 year old Batman meanwhile the rest of the JL and the Bat Kids are like 30-40. If they wanted an older Batman to replace Affleck then there was numerous of better ways to handle it.

No & Hamada's 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' plan sounded abysmal considering that it still had to work around the dysfunctional remnants of the Snyderverse.

Although I wouldn't mind seeing key Batgirl scenes with Keaton in it, since it was in the editing stages of being close to completion (he shot all of his scenes) & while the prospect of Batman Beyond being in active development sounded dope - it would've been a major disaster with Christina Hodson (a shitty writer behind the Bird of Prey & Flash failures) attached to that project.

New video leak from the set of Batgirl with Keaton & the classic Batmobile was dropped a few minutes ago (he says 'I'm Batman' in the audio version): https://twitter.com/BatmanFilm_/status/1670962475561304065 + https://twitter.com/BatmanFilm_/status/1670953033813852162

Nice seeing the directors seizing the moment to dunk on Warner Bros for cancelling their movie.

For sure, at this point I would watch Batgirl even in the workprint 'Wolverine Origins' style (don't care about the CGI/VFX) just want to see the Keaton scenes & his interaction with J.K. Simmons as Gordon. Keaton seems like he's having a blast on the set, a shame that Safran & Gunn are lying c**ts & bastards. Ironic how Safran's comments about the status of Batgirl almost mirror what happened to the Flash over the last weekend:

Safran: "Batgirl was NOT RELEASABLE, & it happens sometimes. That film was not releasable. I actually think that Zaslav and the team made a very BOLD and COURAGEOUS decision to CANCEL it because it WOULD HAVE HURT DC. It WOULD HAVE HURT THOSE PEOPLE INVOLVED.”

          Anonymous

Yeah. I doubt Batgirl would have hurt the brand or the people involved anymore than The Flash. Specially because Batgirl feels a much smaller and grounded film with less need for VFX.

            Anonymous

Precisely. It had Keaton, J.K, Fraser & a youthful Leslie going for it (+ cooky young directors with their own style & humor). Doubt it would've finished looking like an uncanny valley personified PS2-lite video game with the criminal main star attached to this mess.

Yeah Batgirl even if it was a bomb would have been far less devastating financially then the Flash is.

Flash at least gets a percentage of its budget back.
Batgirl releasing would've done absolutely nothing since it was an HBO Max movie, and it didn't look good enough to the studio heads to promote it to a theatrical like Evil Dead Rise or Blue Beetle.

Unfortunately, yes. I don't know what were they thinking when they designed that mess of a costume. Here's the official concept art from the Flash DC Fandome reel, it looked bad from the get go & just shows that the mid Mouskietti Twins have zero visual taste or flavor when it comes to adapting great comic book characters with iconic designs

That was the director's original idea (look at the concept art which ignores the '92 Returns aesthetic & goes for the '89 style) but then Mouskietti needed to modernize everything & de-aging Keaton would've been a financial nightmare, so saving up & going for a mediocre V-shape MCU-lite take along with a Last Jedi characterization was probably a more cost effective solution.

        Anonymous

Batman Beyond with Christina Hodson writing it would've been the closest one to reach that goal (a solo Bat-Keaton film). As Kevin Smith said just a few fricking hours ago Michael Uslan (executive Producer on all the Batman movies) didn't attend the Flash premiere last Monday because he was awaiting for the box office results of the film to see if it does well because the next step he wanted to take as a producer - was for him, WB & Michael Keaton to move forward with a Batman Beyond movie (unde the Elseworlds brand). But because The Flash has bombed & underperformed, it won't see the light of the day any time soon. Once again WB has fricked true fans in the ass & there's no way to retaliate...

Why the hell would Flash bombing affect a Batman Beyond movie, you look around and you see the breakdown of people's problems with the film are:

          >trajectory of Keaton being similar to Last Jedi or something

Money talks, always. History keeps repeating itself. Remember that Batman & Robin bombing hard, critically & financially, back in 1997 put an end to a lot promising Bat-related projects (Unchained/Triumphant, Beyond, Year One, Batman & Superman & etc) for almost 8 years.

Plus, at this point, there's the Joker 2 & Matt Reeves' the Batman 2 coming out within the next few years + a reboot of the Bat-franchise with the Brave & the Bold, so sandwiching Beyond in between 2 films with an already established box office record or a new 1 with an unproven track record - doubt that Gunn, Safran & WB would risk it all & oversaturate the market one more time with Keaton as Batman after the cold reception to the Flash (definitely a nuisance to the current leadership of the company).

If WB (as a brand) & DC Studios take any more critical hits with zero to none success $$$ stories (let's say if a project of the scale of Superman Legacy turns into another flop akin to Superman Returns), then the studio will have to fold up, become bankrupt (because they're currently on the losing streak right now, even with non-DC projects) & Gunn/Safran will get fired for not being to fulfill their contractual obligations.

Based on how Gunn & co. decided to off Keaton in the Flash (he was supposed to live in the end), I doubt it will happen during his lifetime. Perhaps it will occur with another actor playing the old man Wayne role 10 years from now but chances of actually seeing Keats & Burton reunite for a Beyond project (NOT written by the abysmal Christina Hodson) are quite slim at the moment.

Even if Beetlejuice 2 becomes a hit, I highly doubt it will be enough to warrant another return of Bat-Keaton in the mainstream after getting burned hard with the Flash. I believe that ship has sailed & the Mouskietti Twins fricked everything up beyond repair.

A shame, really since Paul Dini wrote a live action Batman Beyond script back in early 2000's for WB & Boaz Yakin, should've just adapted that & call it a day since he was one of the O.G. creators of the animated series in the first place. The rumor is that Affleck wrote all his scenes but did a few takes of the originally written scenes by the director as dictated by the producers. Affleck told them to use his scenes, because he felt that resonated much better with his take on the character. Guess what they did next...
So Affleck got mad and asked for them to take his name out of the movie.

Do you realize how insane you sound? Gunn should be shitcanned for one of Hamada's leftovers? The most adverse effect Gunn probably had on the movie was announcing his slate of movies and shows while WB still had 4 movies from the old regime in the pipe. But even then you can't truly blame it since Black Adam barely did any better before such a thing existed.

Paul Dini (2013): "Alan [Burnett] & I actually worked on a Batman Beyond live-action feature. We worked with Boaz Yakin … Boaz was talking to the folks at Warners about some projects, and he’d just directed Remember the Titans, which was a really good sports story, football story. One of the ideas that he liked was Batman Beyond … but he really wanted to work on it with Alan and myself. So we had a number of meetings, and we actually all worked on a draft together.

The draft was fine…it wasn’t like [Return of the Joker]. It was set in Gotham future, but it didn’t quite have the fantastic, futuristic edge. It was sort of like an amalgam, there was a little bit of Dark Knight, there was a little bit of contemporary comics, and there was Terry and the suit and everything. It was Old Bruce Wayne. So they were in it, but it was just a little bit…

I dunno, for whatever reason, this was a more successful film. The first draft went in and needed some work, then basically everybody decided it was better, rather than spend a lot of time on this, let’s just table it..."

Nick Fury doesn't do much field shit and he was rich so it kinda makes sense on paper, it's everything else that's the issue, he's not doing it for like Damian and Terry's adult generation

Nobody in my theater cared about Adam West or Christopher Reeve's cameo but they loved George Clooney

Does it really count as a cameo with all the CGI
Clooney and Keaton are the only ones who look like they showed up in the flesh, even Cage got filtered by CGI beyond deaging even if he shot his scene in a studio

Val Kilmer's CGI double (Sonar suit) was featured in one of the very early cuts of the Chronoball scene but I heard that he wasn't into the idea & when contacted through his reps - opted not to give the Mouskeetierietti twins his permission to use his likeness - which, as it turns out, was the right move to make.

I was wondering where the frick he was. Surprised they didn't have a glimpse of Bale or Cavill either. What a wasted opportunity. They could have had more cameos in half the time had they just flashed through glimpses instead of drawn out sequences

Would have been fine if they didnt use DeepFake CGI versions of the deceased actors but instead, maybe just stock footage or ''moving artwork pictures'', that would it been less insulting.

Henry was supposed to show up in the ending (pre-Gunn takeover) at the courtroom steps along with Gadot's WW, Keaton & Sasha's SG but it was scrapped in favor of le 'funny' Nespresso-Man.

Apparently the chemistry between Cavill and Calle was "unnaturally romantic" and WB doesn't want incest jokes on top of all the other random bad press they've gotten in the last decade like the unusual outcry about Batman's dick on late night talk shows from Black Label

I call bullshit on this. Feels like PR spin narrative to assuage people angry about the gag ending at the end of the movie with Clooney.

Preach! 2025 will be the 30th Anniversary of Batman Forever. It would be a crime to ignore such a big event. Speaking of which, Kev Smith & Bernardin have watched the Schumacher Cut & will probably start discussing it in an hour or so, keep your eyes on the (right now Smith talks shop about the Flash): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pAaOoxsIXc

I didn't but unfortunately Smith is the only one (besides Akiva Goldsman, the writer of Batman Forever) who was able to see the Schumacher Cut in its entirety (he has a copy on his laptop), so there's no way out of this one. Got to listen to his perspective since he won't be leaking it online due to WB going full legal nuclear on his ass.

Didn't see the movie yet but does Keaton's suit have internal mechanisms like the Kingdom Come suit to make him move like that?

      Anonymous

No. It has some internal tech installed in it (more similar to the way his Batman Beyond functioned) but it's only briefly seen on his Batcave monitors & never expanded in any valuable or essential story context.

Kevin Smith just said on his live show that the son of Michael Uslan (the key producer on all the Batman films) wasn't at the Flash premiere in L.A. because he was busy projecting & counting the grosses of the film & was planning to launch a Batman Beyond spin-off with WB & Keaton if it did well but... since we know how it all ended up, now it definitely won't be happening.

  16. 11 months ago

After the original soft reboot of the Flash, they wanted for Keaton to recruit young new heroes (Batgirl, Blue Beetle & etc) to unite against an upcoming 'Crisis'... thank God that we dodged a bullet there, otherwise it would've reached yet another 'Has to do with Spider-Man, I think' level of cringe bs.

Same reason for a time every movie needed a Static Shock and made the stereotype of "Black Person With Lightning Powers Superhero", it sells and it's vague enough to not be copyright-claimed.

In this case they mean Nick Fury as in a character that would tie in all the movies together

Nick Fury showed up in Iron Man, Thor, Captain America films and helps form the Avengers

Keaton's Bruce basically would serve this same purpose because he wasn't going to be headlining a Batman solo film

Why does DC and Gunn hate Cavill?

      Anonymous

Cavill is a great guy but I just don't rate him as an actor. He looks like the best Superman since Reeve but I think even the TV guys play a better Clark and Superman. WB hates him because of all the drama but I genuinely think Gunn thinks he can find a better actor for the role.

He's good in Man from UNCLE and was also fairly delightful in that Enola Holmes thing. Seems like the script just doesn't suit him.
