No. It was a bad idea from the start.
No, Zoomers do not care about the Keaton/Schumacher universe and it'd have been better to recast or just keep using Affleck
No, it would've just felt weird and sad having a 70 year old Batman meanwhile the rest of the JL and the Bat Kids are like 30-40. If they wanted an older Batman to replace Affleck then there was numerous of better ways to handle it.
No & Hamada's 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' plan sounded abysmal considering that it still had to work around the dysfunctional remnants of the Snyderverse.
Although I wouldn't mind seeing key Batgirl scenes with Keaton in it, since it was in the editing stages of being close to completion (he shot all of his scenes) & while the prospect of Batman Beyond being in active development sounded dope - it would've been a major disaster with Christina Hodson (a shitty writer behind the Bird of Prey & Flash failures) attached to that project.
Nice seeing the directors seizing the moment to dunk on Warner Bros for cancelling their movie.
For sure, at this point I would watch Batgirl even in the workprint 'Wolverine Origins' style (don't care about the CGI/VFX) just want to see the Keaton scenes & his interaction with J.K. Simmons as Gordon. Keaton seems like he's having a blast on the set, a shame that Safran & Gunn are lying c**ts & bastards. Ironic how Safran's comments about the status of Batgirl almost mirror what happened to the Flash over the last weekend:
Safran: "Batgirl was NOT RELEASABLE, & it happens sometimes. That film was not releasable. I actually think that Zaslav and the team made a very BOLD and COURAGEOUS decision to CANCEL it because it WOULD HAVE HURT DC. It WOULD HAVE HURT THOSE PEOPLE INVOLVED.”
Yeah. I doubt Batgirl would have hurt the brand or the people involved anymore than The Flash. Specially because Batgirl feels a much smaller and grounded film with less need for VFX.
Precisely. It had Keaton, J.K, Fraser & a youthful Leslie going for it (+ cooky young directors with their own style & humor). Doubt it would've finished looking like an uncanny valley personified PS2-lite video game with the criminal main star attached to this mess.
Yeah Batgirl even if it was a bomb would have been far less devastating financially then the Flash is.
Flash at least gets a percentage of its budget back.
Batgirl releasing would've done absolutely nothing since it was an HBO Max movie, and it didn't look good enough to the studio heads to promote it to a theatrical like Evil Dead Rise or Blue Beetle.
probably because it would have been woke as frick
Probably? Part of the hype was having the first trans person in a superhero movie.
And it would been filled with commie femminist propaganda and girlboss moments, demeaning poor Keats even more, his optimism and dignity, gone already in the flash, its over, even judgin by the direction of this leaks, it ight have felt if Keaton was in Schumacher's Batman forever. 2SAHK
I would watch a workprint of Batgirl as well. Wonder if it's on a thumb drive somewhere?
Today's leaks came directly from that Batman News twitter account, so I'm assuming they've got the juice & will keep posting compact leaks in bits, so they don't get DMCA'd & copyright claim-ed.
Nice! Maybe they could drop it on here at some point if they have the full film
The new batsuit SUCKED
Unfortunately, yes. I don't know what were they thinking when they designed that mess of a costume. Here's the official concept art from the Flash DC Fandome reel, it looked bad from the get go & just shows that the mid Mouskietti Twins have zero visual taste or flavor when it comes to adapting great comic book characters with iconic designs
now THAT looks AI generated, but to its credit the chest armor area didnt looked as inflated as in the final film making it look like boob sockets, that was a turning off point, but the cowl and mask was the worst, now it really it made him looked dopey this time,
Yeah, it looks really awkward from a lot of angles, pic related especially, as if Rob Liefeld's infamous 90's booba Captain Murrica pinup coming to life.
gijillion years in csp
why didn't they keep the 1989 design which looks great
That was the director's original idea (look at the concept art which ignores the '92 Returns aesthetic & goes for the '89 style) but then Mouskietti needed to modernize everything & de-aging Keaton would've been a financial nightmare, so saving up & going for a mediocre V-shape MCU-lite take along with a Last Jedi characterization was probably a more cost effective solution.
Then they should just NOT DOING IT AT ALL
James Gunn's DCU consultants don't give me any confidence for his vision.
Gunn is a fricking shill, PR liar, a shitty director with shitty taste in chi-nema & a sterile homosexual for shielding & protecting this box-office turd. His worst crime, however, is REWARDING Mouskietti for his grand visual failure by giving him reigns over the new Batman franchise... he officially went full moron.
New video leak from the set of Batgirl with Keaton & the classic Batmobile was dropped a few minutes ago (he says 'I'm Batman' in the audio version): https://twitter.com/BatmanFilm_/status/1670962475561304065 + https://twitter.com/BatmanFilm_/status/1670953033813852162
No i am not watching that shit, they already raped the ''i am batman'' thing on the Flash, and i learned yesterday Keaton is pro-establishment
>i learned yesterday Keaton is pro-jewestablishment
bash a zog, boys
trump is a cuck
Why is WB keeping these hardworking immigrants down
man, Keaton looks fricking great in that suit. why didn't they just give us a new solo Keaton Batman movie?
Batman Beyond with Christina Hodson writing it would've been the closest one to reach that goal (a solo Bat-Keaton film). As Kevin Smith said just a few fricking hours ago Michael Uslan (executive Producer on all the Batman movies) didn't attend the Flash premiere last Monday because he was awaiting for the box office results of the film to see if it does well because the next step he wanted to take as a producer - was for him, WB & Michael Keaton to move forward with a Batman Beyond movie (unde the Elseworlds brand). But because The Flash has bombed & underperformed, it won't see the light of the day any time soon. Once again WB has fricked true fans in the ass & there's no way to retaliate...
Why the hell would Flash bombing affect a Batman Beyond movie, you look around and you see the breakdown of people's problems with the film are:
>Ezra
>trajectory of Keaton being similar to Last Jedi or something
>Keaton staying dead
>effects
Oh yeah and the CGI cameos
Money talks, always. History keeps repeating itself. Remember that Batman & Robin bombing hard, critically & financially, back in 1997 put an end to a lot promising Bat-related projects (Unchained/Triumphant, Beyond, Year One, Batman & Superman & etc) for almost 8 years.
Plus, at this point, there's the Joker 2 & Matt Reeves' the Batman 2 coming out within the next few years + a reboot of the Bat-franchise with the Brave & the Bold, so sandwiching Beyond in between 2 films with an already established box office record or a new 1 with an unproven track record - doubt that Gunn, Safran & WB would risk it all & oversaturate the market one more time with Keaton as Batman after the cold reception to the Flash (definitely a nuisance to the current leadership of the company).
But what happens if some or all of these other upcoming projects, also do as badly
If WB (as a brand) & DC Studios take any more critical hits with zero to none success $$$ stories (let's say if a project of the scale of Superman Legacy turns into another flop akin to Superman Returns), then the studio will have to fold up, become bankrupt (because they're currently on the losing streak right now, even with non-DC projects) & Gunn/Safran will get fired for not being to fulfill their contractual obligations.
And of course, Keats is old, he is in his 70s (not even into account how old he was when he shoot his original scenes before the kung flu and during if, and afterwards), again, its over, either have him having a soft jake skywalker vibe and still kill him and keep him dead or have him being lectured by a wokendan in batgirl and goin for a "he rich he bad" thing like they did with affleck with the take he hated it.
The leaks keep cummin! Here's another one with old man Wayne. Apparently another charity ball scene was in the Batgirl film.
As long as he never fought, then maybe.
They ought to just make a Batman Beyond movie with him.
They were going to, thats partly why they did this.
Well yes and no. That "beyond" movie was set in the modern day. WB (and it is WB not DC) doesn't know what it's doing.
>was set in the modern day
Not defending those lazy frauds but I see their point: WB probably are afraid to tackle another ambitious dystopian futuristic project with heavy use of CGI/VFX after Blade Runner 2049 has flopped & didn't perform to their expectations back in 2017.
Based on how Gunn & co. decided to off Keaton in the Flash (he was supposed to live in the end), I doubt it will happen during his lifetime. Perhaps it will occur with another actor playing the old man Wayne role 10 years from now but chances of actually seeing Keats & Burton reunite for a Beyond project (NOT written by the abysmal Christina Hodson) are quite slim at the moment.
Even if Beetlejuice 2 becomes a hit, I highly doubt it will be enough to warrant another return of Bat-Keaton in the mainstream after getting burned hard with the Flash. I believe that ship has sailed & the Mouskietti Twins fricked everything up beyond repair.
A shame, really since Paul Dini wrote a live action Batman Beyond script back in early 2000's for WB & Boaz Yakin, should've just adapted that & call it a day since he was one of the O.G. creators of the animated series in the first place. Why do they protect & support Christina Hodson after all of her terrible misfires & failures - is beyond me.
there was one chance, its gone now, let it go, move on.
>Why do they protect & support Christina Hodson after all of her terrible misfires & failures - is beyond me.
Signal boosting, that why
Technically he lived because that alt timeline never happened
i’d like to see batman beyond with affleck instead
kino
Ben has burned the bridges with both the past & the current DC Studios regimes (Ben doesn't see face-to-face with Gunn & didn't like him lying on Twitter about his involvement in future projects) & asked for his name to be removed from the credits of the Flash, so it definitely won't happen.
I forgot this took so long to come out that based Crudup dropped out
I'm not sure if he asked for his name to be removed or just wasn't credited.
The rumor is that Affleck wrote all his scenes but did a few takes of the originally written scenes by the director as dictated by the producers. Affleck told them to use his scenes, because he felt that resonated much better with his take on the character. Guess what they did next...
So Affleck got mad and asked for them to take his name out of the movie.
The woke scene of ''Batman should become poor by givin all his wealh to fix gotham''?
>The woke scene of ''Batman should become poor by givin all his wealh to fix gotham''?
Smelled of Hodson's 'writing style'.
It wasn't "woke" (whatever that means) and it's true that Bruce could use just a fraction of his wealth to make Gotham better instead of going around beating people up.
He does that in every continuity
He did that in FRICKING BVS, and this shit still has the snyderverse continuity, the spaguetti pajeet just wanna eat dah rich anf then the p
Are you for real? moron?
That would explain why he seemed so out of it when he was giving his line reads. The stuff with Wonder Woman played out like a deleted scene and he was flat as frick when he talks to Barry outside his apartment. It contrasted weirdly with Ezra who gave his all in every scene he was in.
The director is a wokec▪u°ck

Unless Gunn and Safran are fired or resign. Which after they've cost the studio $300+m should be at the very least talked about.

>> WB had a slam dunk on their hands and did nothing with it.
>>Why do they protect & support Christina Hodson after all of her terrible misfires & failures - is beyond me.
Two words ESG scores.
>Two words ESG scores.
Truly one of the worst 'writers' in the biz. Hopefully the WGA strike never ends & slackers/hacks like her end up as UBER drivers or Starbucks baristas.
>Unless Gunn and Safran are fired or resign. Which after they've cost the studio $300+m should be at the very least talked about.
Do you realize how insane you sound? Gunn should be shitcanned for one of Hamada's leftovers? The most adverse effect Gunn probably had on the movie was announcing his slate of movies and shows while WB still had 4 movies from the old regime in the pipe. But even then you can't truly blame it since Black Adam barely did any better before such a thing existed.
Gunn gave notes to all 4 2023 movies. The ending to the Flash was his idea. And with how much it's on track to lose. Yeah I think maybe he should be.
But you're right that his announcement probably had the worse effect.
Can you provide any evidence that he contributed to Shazam? Searching his name with the title of the film only gives articles speculating on its place in the upcoming universe, and he got the job mere months before the release of the movie.
So no proof of Shazam specifically?
Economos and Harcourt end credits scene was his.
>5 movies
did he give notes to Joker 2 as well? Why?
So they don't accidentally do anything he has planned for his movies?
He bares some responsibility for both films flopping.
I hate his Suicide Squad, his Nespresso inclusion for the Flash & his lies about this trash being 'peak CBM' experience. But on the other hand, despite all of that nonsensical crap, I kinda want for him to succeed with rebooting Superman for today's generation because we haven't had a good (doubt he will be able to achieve 'great') proper Supes film since the Donner days & that was in the 70's... which if fricking nuts & scary.
I don't trust him with Superman.
Maybe he was intentionally putting down the Snyder version of the character. Who the frick knows, it's not like we have a choice right now...
That's where Gunn's humor veers to. Sex, fetish talk, naked dicks, farts, and so on, as well self-aware ironic barbs. I bet you there will be stupid jokes about how lame Superman is for being a grown up man wearing a goofy costume or wearing his trunks on the outside. It won't have any sincerity.
Basically my biggest fear is that Gunn's Superman will essentially be The Tick, but less cheesy.
Wouldn't be surprised if it is.
oh, it's this mental illness again.
>character played by Jhon ''Trust China guys geez'' Cena
FRICK HIM
I don't think he is going to turn Superman into a moron (maybe just Star-Lord levels of moronation, hopefully not Adam's) but you can bet your ass on it, every character around him its going to be a dumb caricature.
I can see him pulling a Peacemaker with Superman, where Clark is slightly dumb, naïve, and unaware while everyone else around him think that he is bizarre, stupid, idiotic, and so on.
>A shame, really since Paul Dini wrote a live action Batman Beyond script back in early 2000's for WB & Boaz Yakin,
Hell yeah, I'd pay for that.
Paul Dini (2013): "Alan [Burnett] & I actually worked on a Batman Beyond live-action feature. We worked with Boaz Yakin … Boaz was talking to the folks at Warners about some projects, and he’d just directed Remember the Titans, which was a really good sports story, football story. One of the ideas that he liked was Batman Beyond … but he really wanted to work on it with Alan and myself. So we had a number of meetings, and we actually all worked on a draft together.
The draft was fine…it wasn’t like [Return of the Joker]. It was set in Gotham future, but it didn’t quite have the fantastic, futuristic edge. It was sort of like an amalgam, there was a little bit of Dark Knight, there was a little bit of contemporary comics, and there was Terry and the suit and everything. It was Old Bruce Wayne. So they were in it, but it was just a little bit…
I dunno, for whatever reason, this was a more successful film. The first draft went in and needed some work, then basically everybody decided it was better, rather than spend a lot of time on this, let’s just table it..."
Nick Fury doesn't do much field shit and he was rich so it kinda makes sense on paper, it's everything else that's the issue, he's not doing it for like Damian and Terry's adult generation
Nobody in my theater cared about Adam West or Christopher Reeve's cameo but they loved George Clooney
Does it really count as a cameo with all the CGI
Clooney and Keaton are the only ones who look like they showed up in the flesh, even Cage got filtered by CGI beyond deaging even if he shot his scene in a studio
Val Kilmer's CGI double (Sonar suit) was featured in one of the very early cuts of the Chronoball scene but I heard that he wasn't into the idea & when contacted through his reps - opted not to give the Mouskeetierietti twins his permission to use his likeness - which, as it turns out, was the right move to make.
I was wondering where the frick he was. Surprised they didn't have a glimpse of Bale or Cavill either. What a wasted opportunity. They could have had more cameos in half the time had they just flashed through glimpses instead of drawn out sequences
Cavill filmed one, but it was cut when Gunn joined and officially declared his days as Supes are over.
Firing Cavill and Gadot were apparently his first moves as CEO. And he lied about it
I feel bad for Cavill, but dropping Gadot would be point one on my agenda if I'd gotten the job.
Would have been fine if they didnt use DeepFake CGI versions of the deceased actors but instead, maybe just stock footage or ''moving artwork pictures'', that would it been less insulting.
>Cavill either
Anon, I...
I meant seeing his face while in full Superman costume but yeah, I did forget about that entirely
Henry was supposed to show up in the ending (pre-Gunn takeover) at the courtroom steps along with Gadot's WW, Keaton & Sasha's SG but it was scrapped in favor of le 'funny' Nespresso-Man.
Apparently the chemistry between Cavill and Calle was "unnaturally romantic" and WB doesn't want incest jokes on top of all the other random bad press they've gotten in the last decade like the unusual outcry about Batman's dick on late night talk shows from Black Label
>Apparently the chemistry between Cavill and Calle was "unnaturally romantic" and WB doesn't want incest jokes on top of all the other random bad press
I call bullshit on this. Feels like PR spin narrative to assuage people angry about the gag ending at the end of the movie with Clooney.
The PR and Damage Control has been happening for at least 2 days now. James Gunn is trying to draw away attention from it by talking about Superman Legacy
Oh good, I thought the same thing. Holy fricking shit, they're panicking aren't they.
What about Batman’s dick???
Especially since The Schumacher Cut might come out in the near future.
Preach! 2025 will be the 30th Anniversary of Batman Forever. It would be a crime to ignore such a big event. Speaking of which, Kev Smith & Bernardin have watched the Schumacher Cut & will probably start discussing it in an hour or so, keep your eyes on the (right now Smith talks shop about the Flash): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pAaOoxsIXc
Have you forgotten Kevin Smith fricked Heman?
I didn't but unfortunately Smith is the only one (besides Akiva Goldsman, the writer of Batman Forever) who was able to see the Schumacher Cut in its entirety (he has a copy on his laptop), so there's no way out of this one. Got to listen to his perspective since he won't be leaking it online due to WB going full legal nuclear on his ass.
I was wondering how Clooney was in this but not Kilmer.
I read here that much of Batgirl would have been found footage style recording herself for YouTube
Is that right?
>I read here that much of Batgirl would have been found footage style recording herself for YouTube
>Is that right?
That was the gist of it. But I don't think they would've gone full Homecoming with it, that shit looked terrible: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq9zjCCp6Oc
Didn't see the movie yet but does Keaton's suit have internal mechanisms like the Kingdom Come suit to make him move like that?
No. It has some internal tech installed in it (more similar to the way his Batman Beyond functioned) but it's only briefly seen on his Batcave monitors & never expanded in any valuable or essential story context.
So I'm just going to assume yes because there's no way in hell old man Bruce, let alone a few younger Bruces, could do all that shit
Right, just not quite in the Kingdom Come fashion. Otherwise, he would've looked like pic-related:
Maybe if it was just Bruce Wayne, but that's not MCU multiverse frickfest enough
So the Batmen look different because of time frickery rather than variants like the mcu?
Who even fricking cares, honestly. Multiverse and time travel garbage should be forbidden
Alternate timelines and Flash changing history.
Not that any of it matters now.
Yeah, convoluted ass shit. Might cook some pasta with parmesan next week, sure would be nice...
Kevin Smith just said on his live show that the son of Michael Uslan (the key producer on all the Batman films) wasn't at the Flash premiere in L.A. because he was busy projecting & counting the grosses of the film & was planning to launch a Batman Beyond spin-off with WB & Keaton if it did well but... since we know how it all ended up, now it definitely won't be happening.
It's feasible but not with the way the films were gonna end up being
It's called Batman Beyond.
And the bigger problem is general incompetence in DC.
Why does DC need a fricking Nick Fury? Last I checked, Superman and Batman just meet up and start fighting together usually.
After the original soft reboot of the Flash, they wanted for Keaton to recruit young new heroes (Batgirl, Blue Beetle & etc) to unite against an upcoming 'Crisis'... thank God that we dodged a bullet there, otherwise it would've reached yet another 'Has to do with Spider-Man, I think' level of cringe bs.
>KeatonBats has to form a team in the DCEU because his alternate universe self (who turns out to be the MCU Vulture) is telling them that Spider-Man is a threat to the multiverse, leading into Justice League vs Spider-Verse
Kino
Same reason for a time every movie needed a Static Shock and made the stereotype of "Black Person With Lightning Powers Superhero", it sells and it's vague enough to not be copyright-claimed.
In this case they mean Nick Fury as in a character that would tie in all the movies together
Nick Fury showed up in Iron Man, Thor, Captain America films and helps form the Avengers
Keaton's Bruce basically would serve this same purpose because he wasn't going to be headlining a Batman solo film
uh, so why is no one talking about Nicolas Cage's Superman anywhere here?
who cares, i know you clapped, like the good little $0¥
Spoiled ages ago and also fan service like that is now obnoxiously common to where it no longer matters
I imagine only reddit basedboys would be impressed by WB taking shots at their own characters
>WORDFILTERED
You stupid fricking dumb twat, this aint pre 2016 Cinemaphile.
>reddit basedboys would be impressed by WB taking shots at their own characters
Such a tiresome pointless endeavor at this point, they were really reaching with all the fricking self-masturbatory references in the 4th Matrix & Space Jam 2.
jesus frick, if you are gonna quote the $0y at least fix the WORDFILTER
No and what's worse is that they squandered the perfect chance to make Batman Beyond
Why does DC and Gunn hate Cavill?
Cavill is a great guy but I just don't rate him as an actor. He looks like the best Superman since Reeve but I think even the TV guys play a better Clark and Superman. WB hates him because of all the drama but I genuinely think Gunn thinks he can find a better actor for the role.
>Cavill
He's good in Man from UNCLE and was also fairly delightful in that Enola Holmes thing. Seems like the script just doesn't suit him.
