>It goes to total shit 3 episodes from now.
So glad you aren't one of those gays who thinks it went to shit right after (OP read this next part) LELAND DIES. His funeral is one of the best episodes of season 2.
It's filler, with directors and writers trying to ape his style, and it comes off like a parody, the last episode is a masterpiece though so you still need to watch them.
Watch the Blue Rose fan cut of Fire Walk With Me right after the end of season 2.
You can easily fast forward the plots with James, and Lucy and the boys. James' plot ties into NOTHING that happens later.
Ignore this anon, don't skip anything. You'll miss things from The Return. Lucy and the boys for example, their son is exactly like the other guy Lucy was fricking, proving it isn't Andy's kid.
This. James was always cool. It does turn into Soap Opera kino until the last 3 episodes. If you ever got into a show like Coronation Street, you'll probably dig it. Although it does somewhat Flanderise coop. Still when Annie shows up in FWWM, it sorta makes it worth it.
>it does somewhat Flanderise coop
In what way? I liked that scene where he's shy about asking out Annie. It was cute. I asked out a girl that way and it worked, because how can you say no to that?

Go back and watch S1. You wont but trust me when I say this. Coop is sorta no nonsense when he shows up. He is efficient, methodical, and comes off as a man with a code who is somewhat particular. In his first interaction with Audrey he's a bit aloof, charming but also distant. By the time you get him in the flannel, he becomes aww geez what a swell fella Coop. Whenever Lynch comes back into the picture, he straightens him out again, but I got the distinct impression Robert Engels and Harley Peyton only understood how to write his most out there eccentric qualities because they're not as nuanced.

I did notice a difference in Coop in the pilot, but I think his personality changes by the first episode. Could be wrong.

It depends. Lynch obviously directed the Tibet stuff with the stone tossing in the woods. At the same time, Coop has no patience for the Log lady stuff. There's a weird sort of thing when it comes to his approach to the mysticism. Either way, he definitely isn't one note, which is a bit how he's played later in Season 2. I also like that Annie stuff and at times it works. The closeups on maple syrup dripping and all that gets me. Some of the gooey stuff comes on a bit strong though.

In that case, do you think Cooper really had a personality change in the final episode when he was with Diane, or do you think it was just his normal personality? (It was also similar to how he was in Fire Walk With Me)

I always got the impression Bob magnified impulses and behaviours already found in the host. Makes sense with that line about needing absolute purity of conviction regarding the Black Lodge. This doesn't make much sense with the goofball interpretation of Coop who doesn't love nothing more than his heckin coffee. Although, to take Lynchs character, there is room for those evil intentions. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure where I come down on Bob. Leland seems completely normal a lot of the time. FWWM makes it seem like the person is still in there. But then why is real coop in the lodge. Could go round in circles like this. Officially, anything Lynch or Frost is true canon.
Ah, the old moronic cope. Too bad multiple cast crews and actors outright said this is bullshit, and Lynch was just as involved in Season 2 as the first one.
He actually directed MORE episodes in S2 than S1.
I watched it in real time in Hungary. A kid in school asked me if I watch the new series (pilot) and I said I'm not into cop shows. And he said no, man, this is fricking surreal and awesome. And it was.
We had an American kid in class, couldn't speak Hungarian, only learnt the phrase "Hogy van Annie?" (How's Annie?) and kept repeating it. Lynchian really
Nah frick off with that gatekeeping. The more who love lynch and tp the better and if you truly remember what it was like to watch it for the first time you should have nothing but understanding.
If a zoomer truly appreciate lynch and his work, what's the problem? Frick you and frick gatekeeping. Lynch ain't a giant corporation that will cater to new audiences until it is ruined.
>, is this unironically the greatest thing Lynch has ever made
Wow, then the rest of the shit he's done must be really bad because that shit is terrible. I don't know how you finished the first episode let alone like 50
You think OP is telling the truth? He's part of the little group constantly spamming this shit. Nobody has watched this garbage for the first time in years, it's forgotten old garbage
It's about Hollywood so in partial it's about israelites. The story is also told half through the subconscious of Naomi Watts' character. Since she doesn't understand "it's the israelites" her subconscious fills in the blanks with movie trope characters, like the Cowboy who presents as a stereotype of a Western movie character.
mulholand drive outside of a few key scenes is all over the fricking place and i dont understand how its so highly
praised. the hitman scene feels like its from another movie entirely
Yes. It was the perfect culmination of pop sensibilities for the biggest emotional crescendo of his career. Next to the last episode of season 2, it is my favourite piece of Lynch.
Whenever I watch this. I always look forward to that Massive Attack song. I forgot it transitions into something else. Does anyone know the song? Sounds a bit like St Etienne.
Intelligence in no way correlates with viewing habits. Like a man with autism who is a human computer can enjoy Howard Hawks, but they may not be able to grasp Alain Resnais.
I'm not entirely convinced that all great men throughout history were not autistic. It's truly intimidating when you come across an articulate intellligent person without any kind of mental deficiency. Luckily, I live in Australia, so it's rare.
I’ve always had a problem with how the return ends. It basically is just another abrupt bad end just like he did for the end of the first run so it feels like a retread. But more than that, the return’s world was so dark and the people were all kinda fricked up, and it was obviously supposed to reflect our society at the time in 2016 or whatever. Ending with no sense of hope just made the whole experience sort of grim. Why have Dougie come back at all if the last real goodness in the world gets fricked at the end?
And, I would not like that turn if he was to do it. What we need is a signal of hope not just another artist saying “shit sucks” but now in abstraction! You need light in dark times, ya know? It’s better from a storytelling perspective.
agree, S3 was a bit tedious at times because a lot of it is just lynch saying how shit modern culture is (and modern television) as if it isn't obvious
I think that the ending was perfect when he saved Bob and all the cast members showed up at the Sherrif's station. Then it felt like it wasn't enough for Cooper to leave it there, he tried to fix things with Laura and just made everything worse.
Don't watch season 3. People will you tell you it's great but it's because they never actually enjoyed the first two seasons to begin with. They watched them, were told they were "high art", and assumed it must be because it was le wacky and surreal. They are very superficial so they of course love the most superficial thing Lynch ever made.
You clearly have never seen What Did Jack Do? That was Lynch's greatest achievement in film. Toototabon knows. She isn't some midget dancing backward! Her feathers weigh more than... wait... I've said too much. Or as the common poster on this board would spell it... I've said two much
Toototabon!
Toototabon!
He's relentlessly handsome.
it's the most he's ever been up his own ass
not even Frost could salvage S02
twin peaks fire walk with me movie is even better
s3 is peak filter
yes
When the old man/giant avatar says I'm so sorry, it really gets me.
It goes to total shit 3 episodes from now.
You can skip all the James scenes after that.
The last episode of season 2 is my favorite lynch thing ever.
>It goes to total shit 3 episodes from now.
So glad you aren't one of those gays who thinks it went to shit right after (OP read this next part) LELAND DIES. His funeral is one of the best episodes of season 2.
Is it lynchian after this or just filler?
It's filler, with directors and writers trying to ape his style, and it comes off like a parody, the last episode is a masterpiece though so you still need to watch them.

>blue rose fan cut of FWWM
>fan cut
But why?
Save and watch after you're done with season 2.
It incorporates 60 more minutes of footage.

it goes to shit immediately after episode 7
I really hate people only watching Twin Peaks for the first time and bursting in to tell everyone how great it is.
WE KNOW.
I feel like I know him, but sometimes my arms bend back.
That gum you like is going to come back in style
Nah frick off with that gatekeeping. The more who love lynch and tp the better and if you truly remember what it was like to watch it for the first time you should have nothing but understanding.

confirmed idiot poster
So good morons will tell you it's season 1.
No, Mulholland Drive is a incomparable masterpiece. Not even Lynch can top it
Is it unironically about israelites?
Everything after Diane wakes up is indecipherable and nobody actually knows what the conflict or plot was
but what about those little Hollywood people that shapeshift and corrupt her
It's about Hollywood so in partial it's about israelites. The story is also told half through the subconscious of Naomi Watts' character. Since she doesn't understand "it's the israelites" her subconscious fills in the blanks with movie trope characters, like the Cowboy who presents as a stereotype of a Western movie character.
I personally think The Elephant Man is better.
mulholand drive outside of a few key scenes is all over the fricking place and i dont understand how its so highly

oral sex with audrey
David Lynch is such a hack it isn't even funny. Not a single one of you can explain to me why he's one of the greatest directors.
He created dark ambient with Eraserhead
Because his movies picture the subconscious
So in other words, he pulls it out of his ass?
I don't understand what you just said. Try to formulate your thoughts
>I don't understand a single basic sentence
You being a David Lynch fan is starting to make sense. You pseudo intellects deserve each other.
k
That's all you got? You're a quiet mumbling little b***h. Remember your place.
He is the greatest brainlets filler director. Never known a lynched pleb with a 3 digit IQ
130 and I think lynch is ok, but fire walk with me is cinema
also autist and no friends tho
Intelligence in no way correlates with viewing habits. Like a man with autism who is a human computer can enjoy Howard Hawks, but they may not be able to grasp Alain Resnais.
Autists are still subhumans so it doesn't count
I'm not entirely convinced that all great men throughout history were not autistic. It's truly intimidating when you come across an articulate intellligent person without any kind of mental deficiency. Luckily, I live in Australia, so it's rare.
3 IQ
Then he would be too stupid to talk, dumbass
the season 2 finale probably is, imagine having watched that in the 90s, must have been crazy
It was

has lynch ever made a movie with a positive ending? there's 3 of his movies i havent seen so not sure if those do
actually i suppose FWWM's ending was somewhat positive relatively speaking
Blue Velvet, Straight Story. Eraserhead's ending is somewhat positive.
Inland Empire had a very happy ending. It even ends with a dance party.
In a recent interview Lynch said the world's gotten even darker, so if he ever does somthing again he'd include even more negativity and violence.
And, I would not like that turn if he was to do it. What we need is a signal of hope not just another artist saying “shit sucks” but now in abstraction! You need light in dark times, ya know? It’s better from a storytelling perspective.

I haven't even watched all of return but isn't it kinda the point that the Bob/black lodge is loose and the world is going to shit?
youll realize that the only thing he accomplished was having a bunch of moronic homosexuals on the internet worship him
