>Dreamworks Pictures is founded in late 1994 and establishes a computer animation division in early 1996 in order to make computer animation films (and thus compete against Pixar) >Antz : october 1998 >Shrek : may 2001 >Shrek 2 : may 2004
I think this is worse than the previous films. Antz and first Shrek hold up quite well imo. This sequel? Not really.
During 1999/2000, when making the first Shrek, they were also developing this elephant herd project. It was meant to be their next computer generated film after Shrek. However, a change of plans happened after Shrek premiered and turned out a bigger hit than expected. Said change of plans included cancelling this project.
There are already countless documentaries and shows about elephants(both Asian and African) traveling across the land during the dry season to get to a waterhole. And those shows actually treat the animals with respect,so the last thing we need is stupid talking animal quips and anthropomorphizing
That James Cameron-produced elephant documentary was almost kino. But Natalie Herschlag's terrible narration ruined it. Watch it on mute with subtitles, and play some fitting music in the background..
I dunno anon, elephants are based and very smart. It wouldn't take much more intelligence to comprehend that humans make movies about animals and I think the elephants would appreciate that.
Shrek is great, the sequels do not hold a candle. There’s one I thought was ok but I can’t recall which one, that’s how forgettable. The recent Puss in Boots as a fantastic movie being a sequel to a spin-off of a sequel to an original dreamworks movie is quite remarkable though, fun timeline.
>I hate these ball shows. They bore me to tears. Flip over to the wheel of torture >Whizzes on you, guys. Hey mice, pass me a buffalo wing >Well folks, it looks like we're up chocolate creek without a popsicle stick >Yep... He croaked
Everytime Gingerbread Man talks in 2, that's the director talking
What was the exact moment Dreamworks sold out? For me it is the vapid soulless Shrek the Third, the How To Train Your Dragon movies, and the third kung fu Panda
Shark Tale was fun, I remember seeing it in theaters but I can't watch it again
the Black person-lover soundtrack instead of Shrek-tier kino OST and the constant babbling by Will Smith is too much
also there's no fish I want to frick
>Antz : picnic blanket scene has Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Slice and B&G Foods, plus a human is wearing Reebok sneakers
>Shrek 1 : no brand references to speak of
>Shrek 2 : the wolf reads Pork Illustrated, a television channel is called ME! Entertainment, a postal service is called FFAPS, and Far Far Away has the following establishments : Farbucks Coffee, Burger Prince, Versarchery, Abercrombie & Witch, Armany Armoury, Barney's New York, FE FI FO Schwarz, Pewtery Barn, Epiphany & Co, Baskin Robbinhood, Old Knavery, Tower of London Records, GAP Queen, Banana Kingdom and Friar's Fat Boy
Dreamworks lost it here. I doubt the elephant herd film they were developing while making Shrek 1 would've had any brands, since it took place on natural environments from Southest Asia.
This contrarianism is cringe. Shrek 1 is still an ironic deconstruction of Disney movies full of comical anachronisms and pop culture references. Shrek 2 is also the best in the series, though the first one is more of a meme movie at this point.
>Chris Farley is found dead on december 97 >Mike Myers is announced as the new voice on august 98 (pic related is the evidence) >Shrek premieres on may 2001 (and Linda Hunt isn't on it since her character was scrapped)
>We’re not going >What? >I mean, don’t you think they might be a bit shocked to see you like this? >Well, they might be a bit surprised. But they’re my parents, Shrek. They love me. And don’t worry, they're gonna love you too >Yeah, right. Somehow I don’t think I’ll be welcome at the country club >Will you stop it? They’re not like that >Then how do you explain Sergeant Pompous and the Fancy Pants Club Band? >Oh, come on. You could at least give them a chance >Oh, to do what? Sharpen their pitchforks? >No! They just want to give you their blessing >Oh, great. Now I need their blessing? >Well if you want to be a part of this family, yes >And who says I want to be part of this family? >Uh, you did? When you married me? >Well, there’s some fine print for you >So that's it? You won't come? >Trust me, it's a bad idea. We're not going and that's final
Shrek didn't have to go into abrasive mode there. It's understandable that he refuses to go, but handle the argument in a different way.

Was this series an allegory of normalizing getting married to black guys?
Then what would Fiona and Harold's transformations represent?
>YKN
>You kust now
what did anon mean by this stroke of genius
Their repressed inner desires of submitting to ogre dick, and being cucked by ogre dick respectively
You become the thing you covet.
Fiona was canon human in the original movie.
>Shrek gives Fiona everything she desires while the jealous rich white boy seethes and has his mommy try to sabotage their marriage
Yes
why are americans like this
literally why
I don't care that you hide under the guise of baiting or trolling
they are merely subhuman: less than the rest of humanity

Fiona there are green people and there are Black folk...
Ogger
Underrated.
>Fiona has a hand on Shrek despite them not having told each other yet how they feel
First film is better. It has more warmth
Do you have to ruin every Shrek thread on every board?
has a hand on Shrek despite them not having told each other yet how they feel
how's that good?
seems like a plothole to me
Wow,I forgot just how ugly Shrek human were. How anyone can look at this an not be repulsed is beyond me.

Lol,is Dev a manlet? Is that why he’s so pissed?
Also, this movie looks awesome and it’s the first I’ve heard of it. Who designed these characters?
No idea about the character designer

Still interested in how it would've turned out, especially given the quality of their previous computer generated films.
Probably an ice age ripoff
>will never have another blu skys kino again
frick i hate disney's greed
Doubt it, Tusker has more of a Wild Thornberrys feel, probably a bunch of tone-deaf environmentalism.
They made a woody allen animate movie and Chris Farley animated movie.
Who was the 3rd supposed to star?
I read that Morgan Freeman and Jodie Foster played the main elephant duo.
I dunno anon, elephants are based and very smart. It wouldn't take much more intelligence to comprehend that humans make movies about animals and I think the elephants would appreciate that.

Did the Shrek 2 directors have to play so many secondary characters?

the second Kung Fu Panda was nowhere on par with the first one. Blame the different director and a rudimentary script.
Dreamworks logo at the start of Shrek 1 is better than the logo at the start of 2

The shark tale homosexual is so obvious
I hate that butthole, he ruins all the KFP threads.
>Shrek 2 : may 19, 2004
>Shark Tale : october 1, 2004
What a year that was for Dreamworks
2000s were surreal.
Amusing character
The fact that they released Shrek 2 the same year shows they had no faith on SharkTale whatsoever.

The swamp is at its best in the first film. Whenever it appears in the sequels, it's dull by comparison.
The Swamp looked like an early PS3 game in the first movie, the amount of primary colors is nauseating.
>AND THEN I SAW HER RACE
>Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Charles III, and Joan Rivers
This sequel has visual references to real life people, unlike the first film.
Why is that guy holding two women in the Funkytown scene?

There's no point trying to respond to or reason with that guy. He's legitimately insane.

It should be the other way around
