Absolutely no. That's what they did for New 52 and it was god awful. Even if the larger history of the team sucks the core 6 are important for his development as Nightwing.
DC’s going to start advertising the return of the JL in the next year, stupid, and if the Titans don’t have a book then they’d try to force some of them on the actual JL team like they did Dickbats era JL and new 52 Cyborg
>Who the hell thinks these losers can fill in the void of the JL?
No one. Which is literally the point. This is just like Dark Crisis when the younger heroes step up but really everyone is just fricking up until the Justice League returns.
The whole point is for them to frick up, so DC can pimp out another THE JL ARE BACK GUYS!!! BUY OUR NEW #1 ISSUE! announcement.
One of the cool things about the DC universe is the generational aspect. You have the JSA, the JLA, then the Titans. I absolutely agree with Taylor that a story of them coming into their own and replacing the JL is 100% inevitable.
Dunno if the Injustice guy is the guy for that story, but whatever.
>I absolutely agree with Taylor that a story of them coming into their own and replacing the JL is 100% inevitable.
I sooner expect Wally West, Kyle Rayner and Dick Grayson to do that, not the rest of the Titans.
Dixon's run wasn't good, and I say this as a fan of the character. Dixon writes for the sake of getting a check, not because he cares about the characters.
>was that the run where they had midnighter and he was working for spiral? i was thinking of buying the collected edition of that
It was his 1996 run/first.
>If Dixon's run wasn't good then Nightwing has never had a good comic.
A bitter pill to swallow. For every good idea Dixon had, he would snuff it out in a very underwhelming fashion.
You don't read Dixon books for plots so much as you read them for the characters in the,
That isn't a bad thing and I stand by that. People watch Columbo not for a groundbreaking mystery writing but because they like seeing the character work their way through the story. I myself would rather read something where the characters are engaging than some big arc that tries to be reinvent the wheel but has flat characterization.
>I myself would rather read something where the characters are engaging than some big arc that tries to be reinvent the wheel but has flat characterization.
It's not good when its like that for six years, it gets boring.
>I think he only works as supporting character for Batman.
That's one of the reason why Nightwing doesn't get anything good his way. Batman editors are massive dickheads.
Most fans would say Leaping into the Light is a good book. Cinemaphile's opinions do not reflect the larger comic book fandom. They won an Eisner for a reason.
Actual Nightwing fans have been disappointed by Taylor's run. It's the casuals who are barely getting into the character and only know about Dick through adaptions who like it. Just take one look at Twitter or the Nightwing subreddit.
That's most writers. Alan Grant hadn't read Batman in like 15 years when he got to write Batman. Still wrote a good run. Dixon's Nightwing run is overly hated if anything.
>Alan Grant hadn't read Batman in like 15 years when he got to write Batman. Still wrote a good run.
That probably helped him in the long run, because Alan Grant and Norm Breyfogle were pumping out some of the best Batcomics of the 80s.
Dixon's run is to epitome of okay and even then it falls off hard after hunt for oracle. Tomasi's run, the first half of Seeley's and Nightwing "the untouchable" are the good Nightwing runs.
Teen Titans, Titans and BOP after 2009 have the disadvantage of having a very poor reasons to actually get together time and time again and stay a team compared to other A-C list teams
>JL
Most of their runs suck, but you can't lie and say "the big dogs coming together to defeat big threats" isn't a relatively solid reason >JSA
training the next gen, also most of them are actually related/a family >Suicide Squad
working off their prison sentence >Doom Patrol
freaks banding together >early BOP
basically just Charlie's Angels, Babs being a head figure with Dinah and later Helena and Zinda being her field agents, would recruit other DC heroines/heroes if needed for the mission >Metal Men
literally just created by some guy, of course they stay by his side and do what he says
Whereas Teen Titans were created because.. they were friends? Then got together again because Raven said so and keep getting back together as Titans because... they are friends. Who fight each other a lot. And then the gen down from them just recruit other teen heroes because that's their brand now.
And that's a bad thing because "they're friends/family!!" is so watered down by most other teams (JSA, JLI, BOP, LOSH, etc) also considering their teammates as their family/friends with most of them doing it BETTER because those teams don't fight each other at least once a run.
>Whereas Teen Titans were created because.. they were friends? Then got together again because Raven said so and keep getting back together as Titans because... they are friends. Who fight each other a lot. And then the gen down from them just recruit other teen heroes because that's their brand now.
Teen Titans 2003 is one of the worst things to ever happen to the Titans.
Dc needs to put him back together with Bea
Bludhaven resident would flesh out Bludhaven more and pirate queen is more exciting than a generic superhero
Two pages of characters were added from the 00s run, because the writers were hacks.Little Barda? Kid Frankenstein? Spoiler and Traci 13 as Titans? Hacks.
Dick Grayson here is someone with a very realistic contradiction. On one hand he's always cheerful, always inviting, always mature, always responsible, and always humble, but also lying is in his nature. There's an intrinsic calculated coldness to him that he can't help, where using secrets to protect but also use people for a greater plan is a strength and a flaw he can't help. This juxtaposition between the happy face and the Machiavellian face also represents how much the circus boy showmanship is still inside him, creating his own version of Batman's pragmatic style. But unlike Batman he understands that in a circus act, you've got to trust your fellow performers to create the best act, and that's the big difference.
and him running around bludhaven is any better?
Yes. One could say that Dick’s current woes are because the Titans held on to him for too long.
i meant more like "do you think the writers could write his stories any better when hes alone in bludhaven"
Absolutely no. That's what they did for New 52 and it was god awful. Even if the larger history of the team sucks the core 6 are important for his development as Nightwing.
>Dick back to being Spy again
>Tim to the Titan mine
>Damian go to Gotham Academy school
Would that fix anything?
>Damian go to Gotham Academy school
It'd give him a consistent supporting cast.
I really hate that DC acts like Jon is the only friend Damian has ever made, let him interact with Colin, Maya and Maps again.
Teen Titans is a solid IP. Can't work without a Robin.
>Teen Titans is a solid IP. Can't work without a Robin.
Sounds like its not really a solid IP if it falls apart without one member.
It'd be like removing Bugs Bunny from the Looney Tunes. Can't do it.
Which is why the Titans need to go. Who the hell thinks these losers can fill in the void of the JL?
DC’s going to start advertising the return of the JL in the next year, stupid, and if the Titans don’t have a book then they’d try to force some of them on the actual JL team like they did Dickbats era JL and new 52 Cyborg
whoever is their EIC rn
Uhh pretty sure Teen Titans is as popular as the DCAU if not more and also looked back on more fondly then the live action movies
Teen Titans is a dogshit show with a fandom as autistic as ATLA's and the reason why DC never lets go of the NTT era.
JLgays like Didio are very insecure over the general public liking Titans more
The public doesn't like the Titans, they like a bastardized version of it.
>Who the hell thinks these losers can fill in the void of the JL?
No one. Which is literally the point. This is just like Dark Crisis when the younger heroes step up but really everyone is just fricking up until the Justice League returns.

They already tried the next gen/Titans coming into their own with Dickbats and it was ass.
>Dickbats and it was ass
Shit taste
>I absolutely agree with Taylor that a story of them coming into their own and replacing the JL is 100% inevitable.
I sooner expect Wally West, Kyle Rayner and Dick Grayson to do that, not the rest of the Titans.
Dickfans are all annoying, he was a good Robin and Dixon's run was good but hasn't had a single good comic since
Because Nightwing sucks. Dick always worked better as Robin as most adaptations understood.
>Dick always worked better as Robin as most adaptations understood.
What are you talking about, everyone loves Nightwing.
When all he does in adaptations is get his ass beat, get cucked, or get sexualized?
>When all he does in adaptations is get his ass beat, get cucked, or get sexualized?
Because the writers aren't fans of Dick.
Look at your calendar, the 80s were a long time ago
Dixon's run wasn't good, and I say this as a fan of the character. Dixon writes for the sake of getting a check, not because he cares about the characters.
If the story's solid enough, then whatever. It's all entertainment.
Dick has been going solo for the last twenty five years and has yet to have a good solo book like Year One.
DC has openly admitted that they'd tell writers to take good Nightwing pitches and make them about Batman instead.
Because Batman's their best seller. Of course they'd give him all the good stories.
Dixon, Tomasi, Seeley, Seeley/King. Even Devin was good for a while, you're defecating through your mouth
>Tomasis run
>Dick bats
>Grayson
Sure
was that the run where they had midnighter and he was working for spiral? i was thinking of buying the collected edition of that
>was that the run where they had midnighter and he was working for spiral? i was thinking of buying the collected edition of that

oh right, dunno who i was thinking of then
King
He write Grayson
Grayson

A lot of people would agree that he doesn't. I'm not even sure what's the point of this character.
>I'm not even sure what's the point of this character.
Batman without a stick up his ass.
Whether he has the stick up his ass or not, people will still only want Batman.
>people will still only want Batman.
If only because it's the only thing DC ever fricking does.
Honestly speaking, I think he only works as supporting character for Batman.
>I think he only works as supporting character for Batman.
That's one of the reason why Nightwing doesn't get anything good his way. Batman editors are massive dickheads.
Which is his exact function in other media.
Most fans would say Leaping into the Light is a good book. Cinemaphile's opinions do not reflect the larger comic book fandom. They won an Eisner for a reason.
>Most fans would say Leaping into the Light is a good book
Yeah, suuure
>They won an Eisner for a reason
Yeah, the reason is that Eisner is a joke that shouldn't be taken seriously at all.
They lost all credibility by giving Nightwing an award (not that they had much credibility to begin with...).
Actual Nightwing fans have been disappointed by Taylor's run. It's the casuals who are barely getting into the character and only know about Dick through adaptions who like it. Just take one look at Twitter or the Nightwing subreddit.

Nothing good has come from the Titans in 40 years.
>"DC needs this, DC needs that"
boring
Remember when Dixon realized his one original antagonist was a little too interesting, so he made him ridiculous?
Imagine how he pisses and shits.
The only supporting cast Nightwing needs is his sexy hapa half sister Melinda.
Get some taste, she looks ugly as shit
Shawn and even Clancy were hotter than her
I fricking hate the halftone texture they've used for the last two years.
Crazy. I love it. The halftone, the color palette, and Redondo's art. It all comes together perfectly.
I hate it because the coloring makes Dick look like a big pink dick. Sometimes it works, like here.
>sexy
>that thing
/co/omers always have the worst taste
Titans never work as an adult team. It only works as a group of teens.
Titans at it's height in comics was basically an adult team. Even with the cartoon, what the fans want out of them is basically adult situations.
they were the youngest group of heroes at DC then at their peak though.
Except they weren't, LOSH and Infinity Inc were the same age as them
Infinity Inc and LOSH were older.
Legion of Super Heroes
Infinity Inc.
Young All Stars

Teen Titans 2003 is one of the worst things to ever happen to the Titans.

why does he look like someone traced over a picture of Hayden Christensen
>40 years
Boomer Titans
Dc needs to put him back together with Bea
Bludhaven resident would flesh out Bludhaven more and pirate queen is more exciting than a generic superhero
U must sever dick
why is dick so beautiful?
While she was with Luke she was really thinking of Dick.
And when he's with Babs he's really thinking of Helena.
>good looking men
i will now read comic books
The Titans is DC's worst franchise.
Two pages of characters were added from the 00s run, because the writers were hacks.Little Barda? Kid Frankenstein? Spoiler and Traci 13 as Titans? Hacks.
Every single problem Dick has now can be traced back to Perez leaving NTT
Every problem Dick has can be traced back to DC letting O'Neil move Dick out of the manor and send him to college.
Every problem Dick has can be traced back to Bob Kane actually listening to Bill Finger's ideas.
Young Justice had a really good take on Dick Grayson that we never really got to see after S1.
YJ would've been so kino had they not done so many fricking timeskips
