Composite Ryu and Trunks vs. Silver pretty much killed my remaining interest in Death Battle. If they use composites or non-canon versions of characters, then freaking everyone in Smash scales to Bayonetta and many characters automatically get Xenosaga and SMT scaling due to other crossovers. For example, Sephiroth's biggest feat doesn't come from his actual franchise anymore, but from a Smash trailer wanking just so that he wouldn't make the ridicule against Shulk or Bayonetta. To put it in Vsbattles terms, everyone who has appeared in Smash, a SMT crossover, or Project X Zone is now tier 1. If you traded blows with Kos-Mos, Shulk, Bayo, or a broken SMT protag, you are now beyond standard multiversal or arguably "tier 1-A".
What kind of idiot thought that taking non-canon composites into account was a good idea? As if people considering gacha lore canon to wank characters to multiversal levels wasn't already troublesome enough (I'm looking at you, Lucinagays). This is worse than Personagays wanking their characters to match those of SMT.

The issue with this take is that smash does not have canon cutscenes where anyone could scale to Bayonetta, and any fight between anyone in gameplay is just game mechanics.

Is it dumb? Absolutely, but that's the problem with Death Battle killing itself by proposing the use of non-canon composites.
They opened the floodgates with Trunks vs. Silver, and composite Ryu now blows them away. If you force it, you can give Ryu not only Capcomverse scaling, but also Bayo, Xenoblade/saga, X Zone, and SMT scaling.
The easiest way to solve this? Keep it to just canon games and feats. Ignore crossovers, composites, or lore that contradicts what you actually see in canon games.
With composites allowed, KOF's Rugal is now on par with multiversal or tier 1 characters, because he beat Akuma in a cutscene, who fought Asura, who also scales to Ryu, who can be scaled to Kos-Mos.

So if they used Bardock with original movie feats, you would complain because that is not canon, even though it's all he has for battle boarding purposes.
They wouldn't do that, Death Battle would combine all the official versions of Bardock into a composite and use that, just like they did with Broly.
In terms of Dragon Ball, the only thing that is strictly canon is the original manga and nothing else, therefor Bardock has nothing, he's just Goku's biological father and the reason he and Raditz survived the destruction of Planet Vegeta.

Even if you assume that the Pokemon already start with a fully kited out entry hazard build, lions would still barely survive the precentage damage.
The Pokemon would still have to choose a move, even a non damaging one, eventually they're gonna run out of PP.

Just a matter of switching between two regenerators 10 billion times.
