You have to understand that superman was never great. He started his life as a power fantasy for couple NYC israelites - there is literally nothing interesting in his early adventures, art or storywise.
His owners have gotten him through the general population by abusing several hosts, like the excellent Fleischer cartoons or wartime propaganda, and possibly his biggest mark; mighty Captain Marvel - the original, actual all american face. Superman usurped him from that position through vile legalistic tricks and rose to fame by replicating Cpt Marvel both art, tone and storywise. When the lifeforce drawn from Captain marvel started to wane, DS copied the shared universe gimmick from marvel - letting superman fly on the wing of batman (who is himself a parasite on pulp characters like The Shadow) or other new characters
The modern writing that people in these threads bemoan is just a symptom of parasite superman running out of hosts and skinsuits to wear; he has nothing to hide his true nature, his original form from audience anymore
IIRC he said it's because most of them had gimmick temporary power ups that Superman later loses. Goku's telepathy is something brought up in multiple arcs (Reading minds on Namek, seeing everyone fighting the androids in his dreams in the Android Saga and waking up being aware of the situation, possibly how he could see the fighting on Earth in the Moro Saga) and is mentioned in guidebooks as one of his unique abilities.
Doesn't really matter though. I doubt they'll even acknowledge it.
Is a pragmatic choice. Too much shit for a 3-5 minutes fight. Not worth it.
Same with goku. He wont get telepathy because superman's mental defenses will make it obsolete.

Dragon Ball is inspired heavily by kung fu fantasy movies from Hong Kong and Taiwan to the point Toriyama and Toei straight up lift moves, characters, and storylines from those movies. Most shounenshit takes the basic trappings of martial arts, ki and tournaments, but completely lose all the Chinese kung fu shit in translation and replace it with more Japanese cultural fingerprints, but it doesn't really work. It's like trying to set an American Western in 1960s Great Britain. And then you add all the kiddy tropes like the Power of Friendship (which Dragon Ball never did, it always treated friendship like friendship, nothing more). What's even more funny is that Dragon Ball actually has a solid understanding on Daoism and Buddhism, moreso than other Japanese works without even trying and being in your face about it. It pushes the philosophy of "Shan Wai, You Shan" (人外有人,天外有天, Beyond the Mountain, Another Mountain, i.e., there is always another level to get to). To believe in one self, to cultivate one's body (Goku) and mind (Gohan) and not to worship Gods which reflects to the real story of Bodhidarma, the Indian monk who brought martial arts to China. Or how Zamasu had his name from Shamash, the Babylonian Sun God, as in, he thought that he was the light and was blinded by himself in the end (a tale of conceit, similar to another Buddhist story). Or how the Buddha rejected Gods and how this reflects in Toriyama's work where Son Goku is literally training to surpass the Gods.

This cinematic masterpiece is always so enjoyable to watch simply because the fight is so good. It opens up the multiverse and sets Dragonball apart from shounenshit for children by introducing morally grey characters stronger than the MC. This returns the Journey to the West theme of surpassing the very gods themselves into the series. >Black
Trunks gets his own arc, in which he is the protagonist. Trunks is a dapper character incarnate, so this is good. All the interactions, the conversations between Zamasu and Gowasu, the quiet, civilised teatimes with Black, all proclaim quality storytelling. The references to the Babylonian god Shamash (whom Zamasu is based off of), who fell due to his own hubris, echo throughout the arc. This, once again, also continues tne Journey to West narrative not only with the gods but also the dark vision of Sun Wukong; Black Goku. The tragic ending where Zamasu actually manages to pull of the Zero Ningen plan permanently is Shakespearean in scope, which once again sets Dragonball apart from the mind-numbing schlock of other generic tales. Also, there's the TEA, which is a masterful example of subtle showcasing character development that puts every other seinen in existence to shame. >Tournament of Power

Space is explored again in Dragonball for the first time since Namek. Moro is an engaging antagonist all the way through, and his loss of self at the end when attempting to claim ultra instinct sells just how far Goku has now seperated himself in power from that of a normal mortal coil.
He's far stronger than all the evil exes and scott that he can solo them effortlessly. Has slight time hax since he can take them into the future. Scaling can get him to potently moon level.

I hope it does since it was my most wanted matchup b4 it got decomfirmed. Only reason they didn't was because it was a massive rolfstomp by NMH2. Now they're closer with that scaling.
Travis has always been one of those characters I struggle to find my preferred matchup for. Scott would be acceptable if the difference in power levels isn't too large anymore.

Also on the topic of CSM Vs JJK match ups, I always felt like Makima Vs Tsuguru Geto (yes Geto specifically, not Kenyaku) is her best MU against a JJK character both in therms of fighting styles and character... Or that would be the case if not for the existence of Kenyaku, Geto has too little showings of power and even if we somehow give all of Kenyaku's feats to Geto he would still end up short because Kenyaku is a b***h and rarely fights.

Gojo for example has 3 relevant fights, without counting JJK0 or the Jogo violation, and one of them is a one sided stomp (Gojo Vs the curses in Shibuya).
Yet we know a lot about Gojo's techniques, way to fight, domain and other stuff. Something similar happens with Sukuna, we know a lot about him despite him only reaching his peak now.
But Kenyaku? We don't know what his domain does, the only relevant thing he did with curse manipulation is Uzumaki, Anti gravity was literally an asspull he never used again, he kinda knows how to throw hands a bit, and he has a lot of experience... And that's it...
Superman is so powerful yet he can't stop a mere crazy human clown from causing havoc. Worse, he let's him roam free alongside hal "I love minors" jordan.

You can scale him to Mean Supreme via Nolan, who he’s blatantly above by the end of Invincible. Mean Supreme > Suprema who held a universe. There’s also Spawn scaling since an alternate version of Mark killed him twice in a row, and Mark could slap his alternate selves silly. There’s also also Omnipotus, who was about to destroy the dimension he was in after gathering a bunch of energy.
Of course, most people (and by most I mean like 90% of people) don’t like using these because something something on screen feats. Personally I don’t like pointing to those scaling chains either, outside of Omnipotus, since they mostly require crossover scaling.

Goku's telepathy is something brought up in multiple arcs (Reading minds on Namek, seeing everyone fighting the androids in his dreams in the Android Saga and waking up being aware of the situation, possibly how he could see the fighting on Earth in the Moro Saga) and is mentioned in guidebooks as one of his unique abilities.

Dragon Ball is inspired heavily by kung fu fantasy movies from Hong Kong and Taiwan to the point Toriyama and Toei straight up lift moves, characters, and storylines from those movies. Most shounenshit takes the basic trappings of martial arts, ki and tournaments, but completely lose all the Chinese kung fu shit in translation and replace it with more Japanese cultural fingerprints, but it doesn't really work. It's like trying to set an American Western in 1960s Great Britain. And then you add all the kiddy tropes like the Power of Friendship (which Dragon Ball never did, it always treated friendship like friendship, nothing more). What's even more funny is that Dragon Ball actually has a solid understanding on Daoism and Buddhism, moreso than other Japanese works without even trying and being in your face about it. It pushes the philosophy of "Shan Wai, You Shan" (人外有人,天外有天, Beyond the Mountain, Another Mountain, i.e., there is always another level to get to). To believe in one self, to cultivate one's body (Goku) and mind (Gohan) and not to worship Gods which reflects to the real story of Bodhidarma, the Indian monk who brought martial arts to China. Or how Zamasu had his name from Shamash, the Babylonian Sun God, as in, he thought that he was the light and was blinded by himself in the end (a tale of conceit, similar to another Buddhist story). Or how the Buddha rejected Gods and how this reflects in Toriyama's work where Son Goku is literally training to surpass the Gods.

It opens up the multiverse and sets Dragonball apart from shounenshit for children by introducing morally grey characters stronger than the MC. This, once again, also continues tne Journey to West narrative not only with the gods but also the dark vision of Sun Wukong; Black Goku. The tragic ending where Zamasu actually manages to pull of the Zero Ningen plan permanently is Shakespearean in scope, which once again sets Dragonball apart from the mind-numbing schlock of other generic tales. Also, there's the TEA, which is a masterful example of subtle showcasing character development that puts every other seinen in existence to shame.

The showdown of the decade; Goku vs Jiren. A fightgay's wet dream, as well as returning Dragonball to its martial arts roots with ultra instinct. Android 17 winning the tournament is a great subversion and use of side characters too.

If you’re asking why the matchup exists, it’s cause Gohan doesn’t have any better alternatives, and both he and Mark are the sons of would-be Earth conquerors that became superheroes.

You can scale him to Mean Supreme via Nolan, who he’s blatantly above by the end of Invincible. Mean Supreme > Suprema who held a universe. There’s also Spawn scaling since an alternate version of Mark killed him twice in a row, and Mark could slap his alternate selves silly. There’s also also Omnipotus, who was about to destroy the dimension he was in after gathering a bunch of energy.
Of course, most people (and by most I mean like 90% of people) don’t like using these because something something on screen feats. Personally I don’t like pointing to those scaling chains either, outside of Omnipotus, since they mostly require crossover scaling.
