Maka v Ruby is the fight Monty specifically wanted before he died, so there’s no way they aren’t doing that one. It’s what one of the most important people in RT’s history as a company wanted, and it’s the one people have been riding on ever since, regardless of how hard of a stomp it is.
There’s a reason DB refuses to use Ruby until the show’s over, but are perfectly fine using Weiss, Blake, and Yang in fights already.

"Softens up" is a term that's meant to describe someone who becomes less abrasive and rough around the edges. In the beginning of CSM, Power saw people and Denji as just ways to get her cat back so she never really cared for them, but as time went on she started being kinder and more helpful to the humans around her, like Denji and Aki. This is how she "softened up" basically, but from what I know Ruby was already pretty chill to the people around her and seemed to be desperate for their attention if anything, so them fighting wouldn't make much sense in any way; moveset, personality or connections wise.
It honestly feels bad that they are wasting Raiden's return after these many years on a Warhammer... self-insert, build, player avatar, or whatever the hell Excalibur is.
Forget who wins or loses, in the end this shill match is still using up Raiden's 2nd chance of being in Death Battle after so long against an actually requested rival. They could have put him against a better or more famous opponent, considering all the samurai, white haired swordsmen, and cyberpunk shit there is (Alita, 2B, A2, Kiryuin Satsuki, Genji, Geralt, Alucard, Youmu, and many more).

If you were to make Raiden vs 2B or A2, a lot of people wouldn't have minded tuning in for that fight, no matter the winner. It's honestly hard to tell who actually wins between both. "Softens up" is a term that's meant to describe someone who becomes less abrasive and rough around the edges. In the beginning of CSM, Power saw people and Denji as just ways to get her cat back so she never really cared for them, but as time went on she started being kinder and more helpful to the humans around her, like Denji and Aki. This is how she "softened up" basically, but from what I know Ruby was already pretty chill to the people around her and seemed to be desperate for their attention if anything, so them fighting wouldn't make much sense in any way; moveset, personality or connections wise.
