Clash of the Titans was the first movie I saw that made me realize that trailers often oversold movies. I enjoyed the movie but I was expecting it to be the next Lord of the Rings from how hype the trailer was, and it kind of fell flat with me. Maybe it was partially because I watched it in 3D because it was a terrible post-production conversion, but it just didn't live up to the impossibly high expectations set by the trailer.
You know what movie really made me swear off of trusting trailers ever again though? The Last Airbender. The first teaser trailer looked amazing and that's actually what got me to finally watch the TV show which I fell in love with. I bought the soundtrack CD for the movie before it was out. And then the movie came out and it was a 10 mile high mountain of impassible donkey doodoo.
As a side note, Clash of the Titans makes a good double feature with Gods of Egypt. They're both kinda shlocky CG-fests but they kind of feel like sister films of each other. If you wanna make it a triple throw in the first Marvel Thor movie.
>Clash of the Titans was the first movie I saw that made me realize that trailers often oversold movies.
Same, I loved that trailer but I couldn't help but feel the movie underwhelming when I finally got to watch it. After years of similar cases, by now I don't even bother watching trailers anymore. The last one I felt some interest for were the trailers for the first Suicide Squad movie.
BR2049, the batman, OUATIH, mad max fury road, joker, Suzune, and most recently Top Gun Maverick
I’ve honestly never been wrong. It’s easy to see when you’ll actually enjoy something.
Sometimes I’ll be surprised by an unexpected kino like Corner Office but I’ve learned to anticipate kino that is made for me.
Currently looking forward to taking my kids to this
>Eight years >Still no Wasteland >George is making some homosexual Furiosa prequel movie with alien chick and Thor
I will never forgive George Miller for this
Yeah the last movie I wanted to see was Star Wars the force awakens. I have never wanted to see a movie after that. Disney killed all my desire to watch films in a theater ever again
That one's was really good.Did not feel I was ted my money Also looking forward to the sequel.
Pic related was my pick.I mostly enjoy Ozons and Isabelle Hupperts filmography.Knew going in it was going to be a comedy. It delivered some light breezy fun.If you like some witty dialogue and some screwball elements, watch this one.
I know it's popular to dunk on capeshit for how absolute dog shit it's turned into, but there was a time when all the superheros being in one movie together caught a lot of people's excitement.
No, I only get excited for new vidya but rarely even finish them. after oppenheimer I can't name a single movie I am actually excited about. maybe the new scorcese
Are you me?
Also, the exact same thing happened with the Hitch Hiker's. It even had the same fricking guy playing the protagonist, AND being PERFECTLY cast for the role.
FRICK
Probably this, BUT i was definately not as let down by The Hobbit as I was by the new Star Wars. I was excited to hear about the Dark Tower being made, then found out it was only 1 movie, didnt follow the story at all and although I like Idris Elba, should not have played Roland.
These were the end of all my hopes..
>i want to return to the pre smart phone world
I find myself thinking this more and more lately. It feels like nothing can really be discovered or "stumbled upon" anymore. Anything can be bought anywhere. All info about local whatever the frick is available to everyone at any time.
Whenever I meet my parents they always proudly tell me of slightly niche things they saw at a store and I just shut my mouth knowing damn well you can easily order it online
>hanging out with two younger brothers >they take their phones out in the middle of a conversation because of snapchat or tinder >out hiking >they take out their phones all the time to take instagram or snapchat photos of shit instead of just looking at it themselves >go out of their way to spots JUST to get another picture to show off to people who won't give a shit >eating >have to arrange the sushi in a nice way and film a panning shot of it before touching it >at the cinema >have to get a photo of the movie screen before their phone is turned on silent
There's only four years between me and my youngest brother but there's like a chasm between us, with how addicted he is to his phone. He's even amusing himself with that AI shit on snapchat now, trying to "trick" it or whatever he's doing by giving different instructions. When I hang out with my buddy we don't touch our phones for hours unless someone calls or a quick check if we're waiting for some really important email or some shit like that. I just don't get how people are prioritising their phone over the real human bean interaction they're currently having.
I had the weirdest ass dream last night, where I was in a South Park episode, and they were parodying the Blues Brothers, with Cartman as John Belushi. Fricking weirdest shit I ever saw.
War of the Worlds (2005), I was 13 when it came out. Oh boy I wanted to see giant robot death machines so bad. I kinda was into UC/Wing Gundam (SeeD sucked gorilla cum). I read the book, the 1953 adaptation, Jeff Wayne's musical, I really got into science fiction and /x/ because of that.
Right now, the new Madoka movie, the estab life movie and the kaina of the great snow sea movie. Although the Madoka one is the only one I expect to be able to see in cinema. A few months ago I would have said Aquaman 2 but i:'m starting to doubt it will be good.
As for movies that are already out I was excited for that have actually since come out dragon ball super super hero would have been the last one, before that it would have been the first Aquaman and before might have been fricking enders game, and I didn't actually expect that to be good I just wanted to see the giant and the ending on the big screen, also the Aquaman trench spinoff that got cancelled and then was revealed to have been a codeword for a black manga movie
every day i pray for more butters episodes, where he says cute things and his little belly sticks out and maybe he could even clumsily fall down like a toddler, cute little babby and i could pick him up and hug him, or maybe even burp him like a baby
that scene where he's riding the horse, and the horse shits and then it's boner comes out, and Butter's dad yells at him is the highlight of the recent seasons
Blade runner 2049, I had a superb viewing experience aswell, I was on vacation in Australia and went during the middle of the day during a thunderstorm, there was like 5 people in the theatre and none of them every talked. It was kino
I was also slightly excited for last Jedi cause Luke was back. Haha…
Dredd 2012. Hard times I didnt even know it existed and happened upon it at Walmart in like 2015. Read the comics as a kid so was happy something other than the Stallone movie was made. Fricking love that movie. Simple, to the point, believeable down to earth villain, day in the life of Dredd.
Why do you have to be excited for new movies which are all going to be shit by definition?
The other day I was thinking hey I haven’t watched Enemy of the State in a looong time, so I was excited all day to come home and watch it after making some spare ribs
Nevermind movies,
What the frick happened to books?
There used to always be some big hyped up fantasy thing to look forward to. In all age segments. >Artemis Fowl >Harry Potter >Wheel of Time
etc.
I can't even remember the last time I was AWARE of a book release. I guess we'll just spend the rest of our lives waiting for GRRM to shit out an ending to ASoIAF.
Yes. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. I watched the first five minutes then realised it was going to be excessively good so I called my buddy over and we watched it together while drinking beer and smoking marijuana, just like Cliff and Rick. It was a unique kino experience and far surpassed my (warranted) excitement.
Nope. It's was probably prometheus. I guess I was a little excited about covenant as well. Safe to say I was disappointed. We have gotten to the point where even if the premise of the movie is great, I still won't give a shit because modern movies are crap. Like the Northman has a good premise but I know exactly what I will get if I watch it >Blue filter >Stiff super serious characters >Long drawn out plot with a few battles sprinkled in
I watched a little bit of the scene where they raid the village and it was shit, what the frick was the cinematographer doing? Reminded me of a bad GOTs battle.
And we will never get kino again because millennials and zoomers have the worst taste in movies and will watch any goyslop.
The Evil Dead Rise made me pretty excited, about as excited as one could expect to be with the crap churned out these days. I was satisfied with the movie, but it wasn't wonderful.
Honestly, I can't think of one time I felt excited about a movie release. There have been movies I've heard have been coming out and I thought "oh, that sounds good", but excited about, felt like I needed to see it as soon as possible? I can't think of one time I've ever felt like that.
I watched the new Blade Runner in theaters and that was good, but I didn't even want to see it, I just went with some friends.
I remember being excited about seeing Last Night In Soho because the cinematography looked great in the trailer. Then I got sick and missed out on seeing it in the cinema. Finally watched it at home and it really made me wish I'd seen it in the cinema.
I was hyped for Nightmare Alley because of the set design and atmosphere of the whole thing. I was not disappointed at all. Fricking love the look and atmosphere of that movie.
Yes. The name of that movie was Mute.
The meg 2
kino(humans) are back on the menu!
9, I liked the music playing for the advert and the animation looked neat. That was 14 years ago.
Was it even possible to see the trailer without being linked to the original short film?
This. Also, the trailers for Clash of Titans (2010) and Tron Legacy were the shit for my teen ass.
>DISC
>WARS
Tasteless roomtemp IQ morons

Probably the Spider-Verse sequel. The Incredibles 2 before that.
It was aight
It was
Yeah it was Oppenheimer
Glad I saw it in 70mm IMAX
bot thread, report and hide
That's way easier, there are still lots of good games coming out. Movies though it's difficult to think of one
Not really, i do remember when i think a flick will be complete shit and i actually like it. I had that with Moonfall and Scott Pilgrim for instance
Yeah, moonfall was surprisingly watchable, I don’t know why it was trashed so hard when it’s rather serviceable by disaster movie standards
i remember the last time i was happy
17y ago
About 11 for me
That's the worst part. If only I'd never tasted happiness, then this dull void wouldn't be so grating.
Unironically Barbenheimer, Parasite before that.
I can't wait to see FNAF. Also I'm 28.
BR2049, the batman, OUATIH, mad max fury road, joker, Suzune, and most recently Top Gun Maverick
I’ve honestly never been wrong. It’s easy to see when you’ll actually enjoy something.

Currently looking forward to taking my kids to this
That trailer alone sold me the movie
>Eight years
>Still no Wasteland
>George is making some homosexual Furiosa prequel movie with alien chick and Thor
I will never forgive George Miller for this
At least I could believe her as a mutant from a radiated wasteland
One of my favorite movies. Never thought I'd see someone say that the trailer sold them when I distinctly remember thinking how terrible it was.
The Northman. While I liked it I was still very disappointed.
Avatar 2 and only that movie. Everything before and since has been a nothingburger. It was the only movie in a fricking decade that has delivered.
Yes, Michael Mann's Ferrari
Yeah the last movie I wanted to see was Star Wars the force awakens. I have never wanted to see a movie after that. Disney killed all my desire to watch films in a theater ever again
yes for badonca dunc 2
last year - top gun:maverick
before that tho... circa 2012, don't really remember 🙁
Same here
>do some of that pilot shit mav
The first Ghost Rider. The world was better before the authoritarian regime of lefties infected.
>Do you remember the last time you felt excited for a new movie?
Lord of the rings
Daughterswap releases every 2 weeks so every 2 weeks.
Dune, nope, avatar 2 I went and saw those and they turned out great. I want to watch beau is afraid at one point and waiting on dune part 2 of course.
The Founder
I saw an early trailer and was instantly intrigued. My friend and I even went to an early screening.
Yes and it did not disappoint. Eva Green as Milady is a genius idea. Now I'm excited for part 2... it should hit theaters by the end of this year.
Is this the secret to Black personless kino?
Just watch foreign movies?
Vincent Cassel as Athos is genius
>Is this the secret to Black personless kino?
It appears so, for now but globohomosexual is cancer and cancer tends to spread. Enjoy while you can.
>Vincent Cassel as Athos is genius
Agreed. 10/10 casting
That one's was really good.Did not feel I was ted my money Also looking forward to the sequel.

barbenheimer was a lot of fun. actually felt like an event at the movies
ITT people finding out they are depressed
Every single time there's a Godzilla film announced.
the original trailer was the last time i felt any hope inside me
that spirit was crushed when the movie came out and ive been dead ever since
Are you me?
Also, the exact same thing happened with the Hitch Hiker's. It even had the same fricking guy playing the protagonist, AND being PERFECTLY cast for the role.

These were the end of all my hopes..
You must be me as well. What a friggin letdown. I dont think I have seen a movie in the theater since.
>That trailer
What could have been...
It hurts
I rewatch Journey and Desolation a lot. BoFA only rewatched once. They had some inspired moments.
I havnt enjoyed anything for a decade now, i hate the world i want to return to the pre smart phone world.
Nothings stopping you moron
>i want to return to the pre smart phone world

Oppenheimer
OP made this exact same thread on Cinemaphile.
And you made the exact same homosexual post, amazing
I had the weirdest ass dream last night, where I was in a South Park episode, and they were parodying the Blues Brothers, with Cartman as John Belushi. Fricking weirdest shit I ever saw.
Pacific Rim
I saw it twice with different groups of friends, other than that Budapest Hotel

Huh didn’t know they were making one, glad to see Nihei is still working.
Barbie. Before that, Evil Dead Rise.
Alien: Covenant, 2017. It sucked.
Batman v Superman

Did anyone else's mental illness activate right around the same time this episode came out? It was a surreal experience.
cocaine bear it was shit
I cant remember the last time I was excited for anything

spring breakers
Oof, that was awful.
I recommend watching Infinity Pool, for a better version of a similar concept.
frick you
Avatar 2
Yes. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. Dr Pavel And The Plane Ride To Nowhere.

I’m excited for “The Creator” and “Rebel Moon.”
TFA
Never again
The Evil Dead Rise made me pretty excited, about as excited as one could expect to be with the crap churned out these days. I was satisfied with the movie, but it wasn't wonderful.
Christ.

I watched the new Blade Runner in theaters and that was good, but I didn't even want to see it, I just went with some friends.
I was pretty excited to watch your mom's sex tape last night, but then I got extremely disgusted with what I saw.
Yeah, the Venture Bros movie that just came out
2015 The Revenant
I think it was It Chapter One from 2017. That was about a year after I graduated high school and I kinda quit enjoying anything after about 2018
I remember being excited about seeing Last Night In Soho because the cinematography looked great in the trailer. Then I got sick and missed out on seeing it in the cinema. Finally watched it at home and it really made me wish I'd seen it in the cinema.
I was legitimately hyped for Barbie (set designgay) and it mostly lived up to my expectations
I was hyped for Nightmare Alley because of the set design and atmosphere of the whole thing. I was not disappointed at all. Fricking love the look and atmosphere of that movie.
I've never felt excited for anything. I think I've become numb after 10.
Inherent Vice.
Yeah I just watched alien (1979) I was really excited for that movie
