Anyone who praises this turd lost the right to ever criticize the Lynch adaption. They managed to cover less material in five hours than 84 did in two.
Don't forget remove all color and medieval heraldry.
Just make it all gray, flat and ugly, everywhere.
The Lynch adaptation was closer to the books in every sense.
If they ever remake LOTR they’ll cut gollum for being “too weird” and the ending will just be Frodo fighting the Nazgul on his way up mount doom before tossing the ring into the chasm
I think you're right. There's a lot of stuff Dune does, like the endless internal monologues or all the Weirding Way fighting, which are very awkward and out of place in live action but perfectly acceptable in anime. Plus animation allows for a lot more surreal visuals in general and Dune really needs that.
I don’t care if they change stuff but they were so fricking lazy about it. >this Alia character is too weird to be in the movie so what should we do >just have Paul stab the baron instead it’ll be just like the MC beating the big boss in my favorite vidya
They could have at least had a pregnant Jessica getting mind-controlled by fetus Alia into stabbing the baron
I'm a booklet so I'm only going off the movies. In the first movie, it looked like the Voice could only control you for a few seconds before you came back to your senses. In the second movie, Jessica uses the Voice to give people orders that take hours or days to complete (like the time she uses the Voice to order a Fremen to go look for Paul). Is that just Villeneuve going overboard with his favorite sound effect or can you really use the Voice to mind control people for a long time?
The Voice makes someone carry out a simple task, so it could be used in that way if the subject was weak-willed enough. You could also assume the Voice got the Fremen to leave and start the search and at some point they just decided to keep going. But yeah, Denis was taking liberties for dramatic effect because it's not actually used that way in the books.
It's political power fantasy disguised as sci fi and it revolves around a bunch of mixed race mutts with blue eyes for some reason in a desert. Who cares?
>Why did he even stop working with Deakins in the first place?
He couldn't stick with a cinematographer if his life depended on it. In his dozen films to date, Villeneuve has had eight or nine different cinematographers, I think.
Probably has to do with him not really being an auteur, but just a studio director for hire. Meaning he'll just have to take the cinematographer the studio hires for him anyway.
It's a shame cause Deakins really brought a lot to the table with his cinematography and it wasn't just blue and orange meme. The first Dune isn't even that bad at the beginning when it still follows the book close enough for it to be enjoyable, but then it becomes trash and any novelty the cinematography had wears off. And don't even get me started on those awful action scenes with that shit cinematography and cheap CGI.
Im surprised at all the criticism for the casting. The cast isnt great but I think the script is a much bigger issue. Most actors would look bad with the shitty writing of this movie.
no alia
no thuffir
no floating yellow lights in the sietch
no harrah wanting pauls dick
chani a girlboss
nameless chani gf
stilgar becomes a meme man
raban slow running like a fat frick everywhere
not enough lady fenrig nudity or sex
no lord fenrig acting like a sperg, then like a total chad in front of the baron
the baron doesnt scheme enough
worms look like buttholes instead of like penis or vegana monsters
they botched the water of life scene

DUNCtards, everyone ...
it doesnt even sound that hard to me. a child actress could easily pull it off. maybe not someone whos 2 but they could raise the age a bit. im picturing someone like Matilda or something.
>it doesnt even sound that hard to me. a child actress could easily pull it off
Of course it isn't hard. Two child actresses already have in the past, and both did a great job.
The real problem is that Dennis Villeneuve is incapable of even directing grown-up professional actors properly, so there's no way that he'd manage to get a good performance out of a child.
i dont like how he cucked her in the end 🙁
Same I was self inserting as Paul the whole time, kinda bummed out that I had to put my gf in the background to become a god :'(
Hiring Villeneuve as the director.

DID YOU SEE ANY BOOKS IN THE SIETCH?
#NotMyFremen

lol
villenoob missing the point entirely of consequential worldbuilding
Having 40 minutes of meaningless action drivel instead of good character scenes with well-written DIALOGUE
Anyone who praises this turd lost the right to ever criticize the Lynch adaption. They managed to cover less material in five hours than 84 did in two.
They casted beautiful redhead Chani as some ugly ugly thing.
>hey let’s take this trippy psychedelic book full of weird mystical space opera fantasy and bizarre characters and cut out all the interesting stuff
Don't forget remove all color and medieval heraldry.
Just make it all gray, flat and ugly, everywhere.

Nothing
Only an Anime could faithfully adapt DUNE.
And I say this unironically.
logh ova is basically what dune anime should be
Just take the Jodorosky concept book and animate it. Still won't be book accurate but it would be a great watch.

it's already been done
this board is legitimately insufferable
none of you will ever be happy and no movie is going to change that
I don’t care if they change stuff but they were so fricking lazy about it.

Soulless. Nothing memorable. Woke. Be forgotten in a year
>No Arrakis Banquet
>No Spacing Guild scene with the Emperor
>No Count Fenring
>No CHOAM
>Cut Baliset scene
>No e-girl Alia killing Vladimir
Psycho, pervert versus fat guy in oil
Talk about a brutal BTFO'ing in terms of everything: charisma, memorability and screen presence.
>I WANT YOU TO SQUEEZE, SQUEEZE AND GIVE ME SPICE
Zendaya and Florence Piggu

That word doesn't mean what you think it means.

poor casting, cut all the dialogue and interesting characters, ultimately reduced to a movie about revenge and not much else
It's political power fantasy disguised as sci fi and it revolves around a bunch of mixed race mutts with blue eyes for some reason in a desert. Who cares?
Also the Paul character seems like a kind of Gary Stuish b***h to me.
Paul isn’t a Gary Stu. Half the book is him struggling with his own issues and insecurities while trying to reach his superhuman potential.
>and insecurities
what insecurities?
Honestly it should have been 3 movies covering the first book, imagine cramming LOTR into 2 movies
Yeah, right, because there's nothing we need more than another 3 hours of empty desaturated desert shots and capeshit battles.
Why did he even stop working with Deakins in the first place? It seems like the perfect movie for him.

Yeah, but in the same moronic way Barbie BTFO'd feminists.
