is wrong Rebuild 3.0+1.0 reveals that the Rebuilds are actually a sequel, with shinji having repeated his life many times until finally something different (mari) breaks the cycle and allows him to be happy
This was actually a soft confirmation that kaworu was the same kaworu in every piece of eva media. Like the spinoff mangas and dating games and shit. It doesn't actually confirm that the rebuilds and nge and the rebuilds are many 'cycles' apart, just that the rebuilds are the last one
Eva is like a loop. It repeats over and over again because both Adam and Lilith are on Earth. Every time the humans discover both they frick it up and try to use them instead of keeping Adam shut down by the Lance of Longinus. The aliens knew that having both is a big problem but either they were too lazy or weren't able to retrieve either egg, so they crippled Adam and shoved him under the ice. Shinji and Eva Unit 1 serve as the catalyst for the singularity that eventually results in time resetting. The Third Impact. In the series Shinji chooses, or potentially accidentally chooses, to carry out Human Instrumentalization. Theoretically, HI should result in the evolution of the human species and launch humanity to the same advanced state of being that the aliens achieved. By melding everyone in a single super-intelligent being humans would be able to surpass their bodies and emotionally crippled existence. However, in End of Evangelion, Shinji chooses to stay a person and get laid. Thus looping it back over and causing it all to happen again. In the rebuilds Shinji is supposed to be able to somehow redirect the path of humanity and (maybe?) prevent the impacts from happening again. Shinji and Mari are able to just be people and everyone else probably got to as well. An extremely important piece of symbolism that people ignore is that at the end of the rebuilds Shinji and Mari are in Hideaki Anno's home town. It's possible that he is trying to say that Shinji has finally managed to align humanity's path with the one we're on now. Thus meaning that Shinji has finally overcome what prevented instrumentality from succeeding in the past, and humanity can exist in ignorance.
>t. lit degree holder that's only seen this shit once

The fact that this is going over so many people’s heads is really making me question the intelligence of this board. They quite literally spell it out for the audience in one of the films.
You should always doubt the intelligence of a Cinemaphile user. I very, very rarely engage in legitimate discussion on this entire website because the userbase has shifted so drastically. Ultimately, you can group today's Cinemaphile users into a few groups
>2016 election tourists who never left because their favorite subreddit was deleted
Every single member of this category is too stupid to think critically. They came here solely on the back of a populist social and political revolution that was engineered specifically to prey on and take advantage of those too unintelligent to notice.
>underage users
A lot of the posters here are children. That was the case when I first started using Cinemaphile in 2009 too. As adults, presumably, we have to be understanding and mature about the way children comprehend and communicate about their favorite topics. They are typically very emotional, irrational, and uneducated. This leads to most of the moronic debatelords you see as these kids are smart enough to want to engage in intellectual exercises, but aren't yet prepared for it.
>actual morons
Self explanatory.
I think you mostly nailed it but I'm curious about this part: "Shinji overcoming what prevented instrumentality from succeeding in the past" - wouldn't that mean that HI would be carried out and we'd all be reduced to orange slime? Rather, Shinji would find a way to make HI redundant or atleast not possible. From my fuzzy memory, Shinji simply rejected the ideas of EVA's in the fourth movie. However, I am likely wrong and misinterpreting things.
[...]
I didn't notice that. From the third Rebuild movie, I take it? So the timeloop doesn't reset time, it's actually a loop that starts off from where the previous cycle ended in a linear timeframe?
I don't know actually. You could be right, HI could potentially only result in the slime. HI could result in a peaceful life where every human is completely unaware of the terrors they created because they are in an ignorant bliss. That's a question for someone who has spent more time on Eva than I have.
The difference is Shinji gained control of Eva Imaginary. Previously only the real could be affected, but now he could effect even the imaginary. So instead of resetting things like had previously happened he was able to imagine a world where the Evas simply never existed at all.
That's kind of the part of End of Evangelion right? "Eva Imaginary" almost kind of hints at Shinji getting to make the decision for himself, but ultimately he didn't really have total control. He could only choose goo or pussy, right?
>That's kind of the part of End of Evangelion right? "Eva Imaginary" almost kind of hints at Shinji getting to make the decision for himself, but ultimately he didn't really have total control. He could only choose goo or pussy, right?
No, that was still just standard instrumentality which could only affect reality. Gendo "discovering" Eva Imaginary is the difference.

That's what I got from it, which is also why the moon still has the bloodstain and the ocean is still red.
I thought, perhaps incorrectly, that the ocean was red because they had managed to survive multiple impacts. Am I just making that up?

Rebuild starts 15 years after the second impact just like the original series, but the ocean is blue in the original series except for in Antarctica and the rest only gets discolored after third impact.
>So the timeloop doesn't reset time
I think he wanted to make it as obvious as possible for people that every iteration of eva work also happened and the movies weren’t a reboot thing that erased them from existence.
The third panel is a perfect illustration. Show not tell. You don't see paragraphs of extraneous bullshit text in stonetoss comics because he does so much with so little.
That's enough time for women's underwear trends to change. I try and keep my wife in these thin high cut thong backs that were more of an 80’s thing Some people still make them but dead stock from the 80’s is always best but is rare and expensive.
Top is hotter. Not sure why, they seem more erotic as they are simpler designs. They hint at an exciting, messy experience with a real girl. Bottom pic seem too fancy and make me think of instagram models and unerotic pornography.
>Not sure why
the art style is coherent and consistent making you easily get into the world it's portraying
bottom pic looks like an adobe flash collage of different assets taken out of getty images
top picture reminds me of real girls, which are icky.
bottom picture reminds me of perfect anime girls, whom I love.
So I prefer the bottom picture.
Also, about the scene itself, it's very important that's why it had to stay in the remakes.
Hope it anwered your question.
Evangelion would be improved with more eroticism between the pilots and less gay bullshit about suits orchestrating the end of humanity
It makes no sense guys at the top would want to turn everyone including themselves into goo.
>guys at the top would want to turn everyone including themselves into goo.
I thought that NGE was just robot suit fighting. Goo? wtf are you talking about
I actually like the fact that nothing ends up happening between Shinji and Asuka. The fact that she wants to get fricked, and he wants to frick her but neither of them is able to make it happen due to their character flaws and the lack of understanding between them really fits the show thematically. Their inability to bridge that gap of communication and understand one another is a really clear example of one of the show's major themes.
ignore actual subhuman single digit iq third worlders (probably American)
you understood the actual point and they didn't
morons should be disallowed from breeding
Sorry I like to be entertained when I watch tranime, and since Eva is so fricking miserable it really needs something positive and life-affirming like horny teens going to town on each other to make it enjoyable.
>kabbalah imagery >oh yea these elites want to end humanity
right you just picked that because you thought it looked cool right. Everybody with sense knows anno is a master troll and purposefully makes EVA seem shallower than it is. Eva is essentially neo-plato gnosticism. >dude i just picked that name because it looks cool, now ignore everything that happens on screen
master troll anno does it again.n
When I first watched Evangelion, I took note of all the imagery and symbolism and tried to make sense of it. Near the end I talked with a friend about it and he said that Anno basically just used it all because it looked cool, which was disappointing. I do hope there's more to it than that, still.
>Soft digital color and colored line art instead of painted cels and lines with better color choices >That annoying bloom filter over most anime post-digital animation >Inferior digital background versus higher effort painted background >Captured on film versus purely digital image
because top is the underwear that a sweet JK would really wear in her daily life. Bottom is underwear that a 20something prostitute would wear while going to get some wiener
Literally EVERYTHING is worse in the new movies. I don't know what happened to Anno but he lost the spark and he just doesn't get what made the original so special and unique. I can't think of any artist who owned himself so hard. The new movies are everything wrong with anime today. Soulless plot, endless fan service, positive validation and plenty of member berries for internet people. Anno should have followed his own advice and touched grass.
True, but the last one was legitimately good. The originals were a vehicle for his grief and depression, and it sounds like he’s just been separated from that for too long to make good art about it… except for the fourth.
The only Eva is the show and EoE. The rebuilds don’t exist, I haven’t watched them and never will. The narrative is already perfect and I refuse to soil my memories
Both look extremely pleasant and alluring. But I'm not the best to judge because any kind of women's undies look alluring to me, so long as they're not granny panties. My wife decided to start wearing granny panties several years ago because she found them to be the most comfortable kind of underwear. Problem is that they're also the most unflattering kind of underwear, particularly for her physique. I see her in those fricking granny pants and I cannot feel aroused no matter how much I try. I guess it functions as a good contraceptive. credit where credit's due.
The original series so fricking bad there's no way the rebuilds are worse. It is definitely weeb sperging, right?
The original series is slow as hell for like 20 episodes, poorly animated, then they lore dump in the last 2 episodes, with a lame finish
Would lacy lingerie really be a manufacturing priority in a post-apocalyptic Second Impact world and assuming it's not a luxury item would it even be affordable for someone like Misato who wastes all her money on her Renault import?
it’s called a callback dummy

that tag always annoys me. just cut off the tag if youre going to have your shear underwear visible. frick.

confirmed virgin
Back in the 90s women wore ugly underwear. In the 00s, they wore sexy lingerie.
Soul
No soul
Anyone that needs explanation or nags about it on twitter has never had sex or it's a fricking landwhale
Hilarious considering who's nagging about it
anyone saying that top is hotter is a pedophile because thats what little girls use
Little girls don't use bras.

Never said this before but, YWNBAW.
Anyway, I would frick Shinji.
Evangelion would be improved with more eroticism between the pilots and less gay bullshit about suits orchestrating the end of humanity

Agreed
>guys at the top would want to turn everyone including themselves into goo.
I thought that NGE was just robot suit fighting. Goo? wtf are you talking about
Nah they want to restart the world and turn everyone into one conscious tang drink
It’s been 30 years, how do you still not understand the plot?
It's a show for teens who exemplify the dunning kruger effect
I actually like the fact that nothing ends up happening between Shinji and Asuka. right you just picked that because you thought it looked cool right. Everybody with sense knows anno is a master troll and purposefully makes EVA seem shallower than it is. Eva is essentially neo-plato gnosticism.
>dude i just picked that name because it looks cool, now ignore everything that happens on screen

Is there any proof, whether explicit or implicit, that anno trolls like that?
gnostics are all schizophrenics and will accept any vague shred of tangential evidence as proof of their psychotic worldview

>misato's panties are no longer white
really makes you think
Dispite the bottom being more detailed top still looks better somehow.
Why?
Soul/soulless
Soul.
Top feels like we are seeing the characters actual unmentionables, bottoms feels like lame fanservice..
Honesty vs dishonesty.
>Soft digital color and colored line art instead of painted cels and lines with better color choices
>That annoying bloom filter over most anime post-digital animation
>Inferior digital background versus higher effort painted background

Art direction.
because top is the underwear that a sweet JK would really wear in her daily life. Bottom is underwear that a 20something prostitute would wear while going to get some wiener
she is a prostitute
There has never been a greater example of SOUL vs. SOULLESS in all of history.
The 90's ones were nicer.
Too much lingerie is a turn-off. That's just trying too hard.
>rebuild was 2007

Sorry, I’m just not gonna ever watch it (the soulless cashgrabs) haha lol!!
The only moron bullshit in the rebuild was him self inserting his actual wife as a new character and making her the girl he picks.
isnt eva just pretentious groundhogs day with robots and daddy issues?
>isnt eva just pretentious groundhogs day with robots and daddy issues?
Yes it is, but room temperature IQ pedos pretend its good to appear smarter.
bottom looks like poor fat women underwear from the clearance rack at walmart.
The only thing they did better in the movies, otherwise they erased all soul
Why the bloom? Frickin hell I hate that shit. Hard on the eyes and feels like I've been staring into a lamp.
more effects = good
don't know what you mean, the movie Asuka looks worse than the show version. compare the movie to an episode Takeshi Honda worked on.
so much post that her hair looks brown like the wall
>I AM A CLONE FOR NO REASON
brilliant
I like the white cotton panties better. Its like fun to push on them and feel that squishy soft little bump.
The lace are nice too but the texture doesnt enhance the feeling of the flesh underneath imo.
Plus when the wetness seeps through you can see it way better in the cotton panties.
Both look extremely pleasant and alluring. But I'm not the best to judge because any kind of women's undies look alluring to me, so long as they're not granny panties. 2007 is superior.
I don't give a crap what any beta has to say. It she wears black she is good.
Also 1995 looks like the a filled with pee stains and blood.
>remakes
SOULLESS GOYSLOP
hahahaha oops, oh well
Why do all modern anime have this disgusting vaseline, bloom filter over the picture?
