Not as much anymore; a few weeks ago I had a really vivid dream about dying. I was just lying down in my bed, a typical wake up dream scenario, when suddenly my heart started beating irregularly, almost like a panic attack but more subdued. My vision soon started blurring, slowly at first and then rapidly. I understood I was fading and an intense anxiety gripped me for what seemed like ages but what was only a few seconds. Then there was just a release, almost orgasmic but more like a sneeze, followed by pure nothing. Almost immediately after i woke up but in that instant I think I felt an approximation of what death felt like and it didn't feel bad. It didn't necessarily feel good either but I've been feeling bad for so long that I'd take neutrality any day. Since then the prospect of death hasn't been quite as daunting.

As time has gone on and more info drops they just become more contemptuous. Mostly just the moron who is piloting it and the Frenchman who literally loots the titanic for plunder, but at this point I expect it to come out that one of them was an abuser or a rapist or a nonce or something. The sheer stupidity, the hubris, the casualness of billionaires to be misers when their lives are on the line probably because they have been taken care of their entire life and can't fathom being at the whim of something else.

I only really feel bad about the zoomer. He didn't deserve to go out like that.

Nepo baby. No idea if he's a decent sort or an Uday-Quasy entitled rapist. Given Pakistani and billionaire heir I assume the latter.

His dad is a muslim paki.

Do you think Muslim billionaires live like pious and puritanical mullahs?

They are rich so they deserve to die I guess. Somehow being rich is supposed to make this NOT one the most miserable ways to die imaginable. Pointing thag out is somehow “defending” billionaires. And poor brown people that have nothing at all to do with this situation didn’t get saved. Somehow them dying is a political thing for many people.

That being said, the controller, the “toilet”, all the hack jobs done by the CEO do make the situation pretty comical. But the comedy should be in the absurdity of the tragic situation, but many people are gleeful at the actual deaths of these people, like they would be joyful no matter how they died and are using the bizarre circumstances of the situation to hide their actual cold and heartless reaction to human suffering. Like these people did them all wrong personally. A bunch of weirdos with parasocial grudges.

It’s incredibly hard to feel any sympathy for a bunch of billionaires who’ve never had to work a day in their lives dying because they were too stupid to realise they were being scammed. These people could lift thousands out of poverty with just their own funds but instead they blow it on stuff like this. Why wouldn’t people laugh at them?

        Anonymous

Do you really not understand why? They got conned into locking themselves (literally) into a sales pitch by a dangerously irresponsible madman who is either holding them hostage or who was genuinely hoping that he could impress them with his “economical” solutions to the problem of affordable, deep sea tourism.

The sheer number of red flags regarding this whole thing is astounding, but these morons went through with it anyway. I wonder if they all knew they were going to do something suicidally dangerous but ended up in a social game of “billionaire chicken” where none of them were willing to back down from going along what was obviously the worst idea of all time.

This is a story too juicy to not get fleshed out. I can’t fricking wait to hear what happens next.

about an hour ago someone was saying roughly 9 hours

now it takes 2.5 hours to get to the surface

so if it doesn't get moving in the next 5.5ish hours they won't make it to the surface in time

and lets not forget even if they did the hatch is bottled closed from the outside and they can't open it from the inside so they'd still die of lack of air

The only glimmer of hope left is that one guy went sicko mode and killed the others for their air. He could buy maybe another day or two because the cool internal temperature of the sub would stave off putrefaction a little bit, but eventually the bacteria would eat up all the remaining oxygen he would have had if he didn't have to share that coffin with a bunch of rotting bodies.

that's debatable people have disappeared in the water with killer whales witnessed in the area

their was a big scientific mystery as to why they didn't attack humans because they could frick us up maybe they have learnt behaviour not to frick with humans because it means bad outcomes for them

maybe one of them got bold and it paid off and they suddenly realised these pink seals aren't that scary anymore like they were 200 years ago so lets have a go at them

i don't care if your a bait post or not but they are highly intelligent creatures fishing boat (can get caught up in nets) they have hooks and other things that can be used as weapons maybe even guns

they've probably encountered them before and had bad experiences

where as refugee boats are packed to the rafters with people precariously sitting on the edge of the hull

killer whales have eyes and think hmmm if i just bump this boat maybe one of these humans will fall overboard and i can eat them

Even the whales are getting Black person fatigue

Given your disdain of poor browns considering the use of it as a pejorative I am 100% certain you've either participated in or enjoyed hearing about refugee boats sinking during the great migration crisis. I do not begrudge you for that given what the refugees are doing to Europe and the more danger facing refugees the less they'll want to invade Europe. But what I do find deplorable is your smarmy little bullshit of suddenly crying about the poor widdle billionaires. How they're dying is horrible? Yeah, no shit. And if you gave most people the choice of "send a billionaire to die in a alibaba iron lung or stay at home in their 17 different mansions" most would not choose to send someone to die.

They chose to frick around and find out, they chose to flippantly disregard safety and security because of lives of entitled narcissists who are immune to consequences. And now they're getting an appreciation of how they can't spend their way out of this mess. Except they could have! Had they not been so arrogant! It's hilarious. And had any of us little people warned them about the dangers beforehand (given they were warned about the dangers beforehand!) They'd have dismissed us. Or fired us, since they fired the guy who warned them about it!

You're a concern trolling sanctimonious homosexual, you are not more moral than the people mocking them. Rather, you're a lot like male feminist allies who larp and larp about how bad others are while having enough skeletons in the closet to be a graveyard. Take the fricking beam out of your eye before you b***h about the speck in ours.

And more seriously what do you want? Just 10 billion threads of "oh those poor souls 🙁 how terrible 🙁 How awful what a terrible way to die".

True, their deaths are certainly the consequences of their own actions. I'm not trying to say that. And your criticism on the "poor brown people" line is fair. They were overconfident and ignored all of the many warning signs and got a brutal reality check.

I don't want anything. I'm not trying to concern troll or tell people they shouldn't joke about it. I'm just saying that I personally think it's a little weird to be so happy about the deaths of people you don't know as if they have done you some great wrong personally just by being so overly wealthy. I laughed at a lot of parts of the story. I think the memes coming from it are hilarious. I also think being trapped somewhere as uncomfortable as that submarine looks with enough to time to realize and know you will die slowly and there being nothing you can do to stop it sounds terrible no matter who you are.

dude falling asleep and dying in your sleep is probably the easiest ways to go out homie relax and lets be real they aren't alive the whole banging sound they heard was just some bs they made up to give false hope

the thing was breached and crushed and they all died instantly

so fast that their brain couldn't register the pain it should be receiving from all their crushed bodied

again a nicer way to go out rather than have your balls chewed off by a pitbull while your drugged out and held at gun point by narco's

or whatever horrors are going on in the ukraine

stop being a b***h this is just hubris of the rich where normal people are like i wouldn't of done that

That would certainly be ideal for them. I'm not saying it's the worst way to die. I'm not mourning these people or trying to "defend" them. I'm just saying that it sucks IF they didn't die instantly. They shouldn't have gotten on the sub and the only reason they did is because they are rich and thought they knew better. It's their fault and for that getting mocked is fair game. BUT assuming they didn't get crushed to death or drown instantly, the other ways they will probably die and the situation they will be in until that happens sucks.

If they just died instantly or will all pass out and die in their sleep, then yeah there is nothing to say.

Again, it's not the mockery of how they died that I find weird, it is the glee people feel at them being dead, which many would seem to feel no matter how they died. I'm not glad they're dead, I'm not sad they're dead.

but unless they are killing each other and having brutal fights in that tight contained environment to increase their amount of oxygen they are gunna die nice deaths

i don't want to climb everest and go pass cadavers of dead climbers just so i can say i reached the summit that's macabre and these are the sort of people you are crying over they are happy to walk over the graves of dead people just to say hey "i did it"

i'd much rather go to a track day with my ferrari ya feel me

it's just a big dick measuring contest the rich do like learning bjj or do celebrity boxing or some other dumb shit

NTA, that sub imploded days ago and 5 people got what they signed up for. I don’t know them and couldn’t care less. I would never choose send 5 people to their death either. But saying and joking about a crazy situation like this is hardly immoral, if anything the negative attention could drive more people to consider safety in their own lives or something. Who knows. If it were me in that sub and I knew someone were laughing at me I’d hope to at least have kept my sense of humor about things

1 billion is a thousand millions. Which is 4000 250ks. The motherfricker couldn't even spare an extra 250k to go down himself to make sure it was safe, he had to bring his son with him on their first trip. This Paki piece of shit couldn't even spare 2/4000 of his overall wealth to ensure the safety of his son. Imagine having 4k with you and not even spending 2 dollars to make sure your son would survive.

And that's assuming he had only a billion dollars, it was likely more. Poorgays cannot comprehend the absolutely goofy amount of wealth these shitheads have. It's actually criminal.

do your due diligence and also accept that the risk of dying has risen quite highly if you go on this ride

so maybe talk to an independent marine safety guy about it and ask him to write a report for you on oceangate

read said report and make a decision on whether you think the experience outweighs what the likelihood of death is

Why? Did you have a 250k down deposit on a trip on this death trap?

  34. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

Why are these trips allowed to even be solo manned? They should have departed in a deployment of at least 2-3 subs so if one fails or gets trapped, the other one or two can get help. I hope these "thrill" rides are even more strictly regulated or just banned completely. Send unmanned subs only at those ridiculous depths. Who the frick needs to see a rotting boat in person?

      Anonymous

There won't be more regulations since they used a lot of "research" loopholes and no one really wants to see those closed. We need more deep sea research. I want to build my subnautica base IRL before I fricking die.

      Anonymous

Checked, and I respectfully disagree. If anything, we need more of these companies ferrying billionaires down to the bottom of the ocean. Deregulation is the key. Turn it into open season. Anybody can throw together a sub out of steel, or carbon fibre, or even fricking paper mache if it means we can get more and more billionaires to the bottom of the ocean. Imagine those trains in India, where they’re clinging to the sides and the roofs because of rampant overpopulation. Now take that, replace the ordinary people with billionaires, and point it straight down into the Marianas trench. If they don’t want to go, we force them on at gun point.

I agree, let's create a place at the bottom of the ocean, New Delhi let's call it for arguments' sake, and start telling all the rich people how many jobs there are at the bottom of the ocean and how they'd make more money there to take back home and buy a bigger house.

Zero chance that this didn’t implode. They lost comms too soon for them to have gotten to the titanic and get stuck in the wreck, because that’s the only reason that a 7 failsafe system would not get them to the surface. The worst case is if they did surface and because of the weather they’re invisible since in their incompetence they painted it white and do not have a GPS system.

Yes and according to the videos that are going around in those dives they pretty quickly started dropping ballast when the comms were lost. But they regained it and kept going but slower. Either they kept going with no navigation and somehow made it to the titanic by memory or something and got tangled. I don’t see how they can’t resurface

The sea freaks the FRICK out of me. Just the idea of a huge dark place that tries to actively kill you makes any movie set in there a horror film for me. Now that this Titan shit has been in the news, I've had multiple nightmares about being stuck in the submarine myself

Agreed. We need to nuke the sea immediately.

The movie that made me most scared of the ocean wasn't even an ocean movie. It was a hard sci-fi film I can't remember the name of about a manned mission to Titan or something and at the end the ice cracks and the ship falls into the alien ocean. Just that idea of not only been stuck in the depths of sea but the isolation of space at the same time really got to me.

The only hope they have (had) is that the sub got stuck somewhere and they could use one of the unmanned subs to dislodge it and allow it to surface
