It's not just Disney fans, movies with completely backwards morals like this where you're supposed to support something dubious only because the movie tells you so are very prevalent in media, they're always mixed with other movies with good morals and nobody ever seems to care about this impossible mix.
It's about control, simple as. The powers that be don't want people to make moral judgements of their own, everyone is simply supposed to agree with what they're told, and movies like this are the medium to spread the idea that you don't have to think because you might be wrong, you must merely agree with the narrative.

You have a particularly good example of how this is used with the two ongoing wars right now. When Russia bombed Ukraine, the TV would permanently remind you that murdering civilians is wrong. Now that Israel is bombing civilians, it's all about justifying it. It's not that you have to judge the fact of murdering civilians differently now, it's that you're not supposed to judge any fact by yourself ever, you only have to think what your government tells you to think.

This movie is just particularly bad at hiding its purpose, or it came out at a particularly bad time, or both, but it's far from being the only movie that literally asks you not to feel empathy for the designed enemy.

The dad being sicked and mom wishing for her husband to be healed is something he would want, after all it would mean one more productive member of his society helping out in the kingdom.
But since that never happened, means the mom never wished for her husband to be healed just like how the cripple never wished to be able to walk.
That is the problem with (semi) omnipotence in stories, you will eventually run into plotholes that make the characters look like complete morons if not outright evil

The thing people are b***hing about isn't that it's generic or "back to basics" or anything, most people seem to agree that was a good idea.

The problem is they did a titanically shit job to such a fricking degree that even before you get into the details of the dialogue or the song quality, the plot is, straight up, "the villain wins" because the writers were actually that fricking moronic and ended up creating a scenario that I can only compare to fricking RWBY with Ironwood, where a character is repeatedly stabbed in the back by a moronic b***h who promptly destroys everything he's trying to save but the narrative frames it as a good thing without actually *making* it a good thing beyond a handwave.

Also, they missed the chance of showing the mom's wish as wanting her husband to be healed. Then miss "my-dad-died-when-I-was-twelve" would've looked more sympathetic going against the king for not granting all wishes.

I though that's what they were going to do when Magnifico and Asha shared their tragic pasts. But all we got was a fricking blue orb for the mom. Holy shit, they showed a guy climbing a fricking mountain, a dude rowing a boat, a chick flapping her arms like a stupid bird and they didn't give a shit about the MC's MOTHER.

Yeah, they went full traditional Disney with that one.

Yes, Jennifer Lee treats Anna as her self insert effectively. So she's disappointed the magical sister character who can use her magic to make pretty dresses is the one girls love. Goes without saying but Disney's executives pulled rank and ordered Jennifer Lee to obey as it will never be permitted for Elsa to be killed off.

So you admit people love Elsa for shallow reasons(her magic and beauty), rather than her prim and proper personality? That's so sad.

    >non-white characters
Okay sure they went middle-ground this time with vaguely Hispanic / Indian, but don’t little girls (and their parents for that matter) want to see white characters instead? Most people aren’t invested enough into ID activism to translate it into sales success. Ie, you can praise it on Twitter but if you’re not going to buy tickets to go see it than the activism is commercially worthless. The common-sense argument is wouldn’t non-whites want to see non-whites in the cast — but that’s just an excuse for the activism because the real common-sense is that everyone, including non-whites, want to see white characters due to colorism, ie, light-skinned is always more attractive to humans for some reason.

    >The only way Jennifer Lee gets her shitty self fired is if she ruins Frozen. So if she makes Frozen 3 and 4 and those movies under perform she's finished. Frozen was the last mega hit that Disney truly had that sold merchandise. If Jennifer Lee damages the Frozen brand that's something not even Iger can forgive. Frozen is THAT important to Disney that if it's crippled Jennifer Lee is fired. This is the woman whose brilliant idea for Frozen 2 was killing off Elsa to make the entire franchise about Anna the character girls don't care about.

The problem however is imagine Jennifer Lee fired. Who is to say her replacement would be any good? Disney is full of Leftist activists to the point Jennifer Lee is simply one of them. You would need to fire thousands and gate keep the important positions like the current one Jennifer Lee has.

The reason why no one cares about Anna is because Lee keeps shoving her stupid, unattractive self-insert in people's faces in order to force people to love her. She's not being subtle here. If she wanted Anna to shine as much as Elsa, why doesn't she bother giving her a strikingly beautiful design? I'm not saying she has to have sparkles or anything but she needs a more appropriate color scheme that fits her character. Green and red hair makes her look Celtic rather than Scandinavian. It's so sad people didn't bother to take her nationality into thought when they designed her.
