The first one is no spring chicken either.
They spend way too much time on that dull ass cave set.

Why was the dialogue in the first one actually good and so shit in the later ones? Did they just stop caring about anything other than CGI?

They first was a pain to get made and spent a while in production. The sequels were made to cash in and were rushed

You can have a strong female lead, but she has to be hot. Modern Hollywood's problem is all the strong female leads are ugly.

She doesn't even need to be hot, as long as she has something to offer it can be fine. She can be middling to unattractive, but if she has the right attitude it can work. It's just writers only want to write female characters as abrasive c**ty shitheads AND cast middling women to play them, then give them undercuts and dress them up in all manner of unflattering makeup and wardrobe.

Go back and watch some movies from the 70s 80s and 90s. There are all sorts of major female characters in movies who are not particularly attractive at a glance, but because of their sympathetic and endearing characterization they quickly grow on you. You almost never experience that anymore. The writing is the problem.

      >somewhat attractive, solidly feminine
      >not a 'boss b***h' who shits on men who are magically all incompetent
      >some flaws, balanced with autonomy and earned respect/realistic skills
      It's simple.

If it was made today it would be some unattractive stronk israeliteess that constantly emasculates the joke of a lead male and the entire plot would revolve around just them.
