So these dick heads flat out did illegal human testing on CHILDREN? I mean, I'm not really surprised, this is the court we're talking about, however I'd be fricking AMAZED if anyone with half a brain cell wanted to go on a one way cruise to a deserted planet with a group of people that thought child testing was even remotely a good idea.

The stuff over the face here is bismuth-shaped so I'd assumed at the time it was some representative of the seed bismuth, but that doesn't make sense with what they're saying here. Unless it's all a con.

Wait, if etherstuff is created by thonking, then how come they will just not create ether over there? Will they just… lobotomise people, or what?

      Anonymous

Might be why they're filtering out all the ether-sensitives first. Though I think it's death and the release of souls that generates ether.

On that note, I wonder where the psychopomps facter in on this. Even if other worlds/realities are out of their jurisdiction, they're petty fricks who get angy when they don't get a soul on their side. Might be a segway to Annie getting her first orders from them.

A simple boat cruise made Zimmy sick "by design" and they don't want any ether types coming with them on a one-way trip. It's probably fatal.

Souls are a very etheric concept. Do you think the new and perfect court of science will let you keep such a thing?

It would be something they'd have to work out because if they blocked out the Guides, all their dead are stuck as ghosts.

      >When you were children
Wait, is this implying that they're all adults now?
So the main cast of Gunnerkrigg is legal?

Apparently the cruise has been a thing for years. They're talking to the adults present who've been students previously.

        >It would be something they'd have to work out because if they blocked out the Guides, all their dead are stuck as ghosts.

Again, assuming they'd have souls. This is like a reverse Heaven's Gate. Instead of dying to send their souls to space, it smells like they're sending their bodies, and leaving that etheric contaminant behind.

          Anonymous

Honestly I say let them go off to their own world or whatever at this point. There’s literally no downsides.

          Anonymous

I don't think Tom has addressed whether soulless humans are a thing or not. I assume the normies have souls but lack the ability to project them into the ether, so they're isolated until the death of their bodies.

So it's a toss up between them all falling into comas at the threshold or wondering why their dead are reportedly showing up on cameras and dark hallways.

Either that or the Annie Crew somehow track them down later. It would be the best route if Tom wants to reveal that something went wrong.

I'm starting to think Jones was possibly a future creation of this new court on a new planet sent back in time to record earth from its inception to make it "predictable" so the court could return to earth one day.

They are likely starting on a new planet without life so that the "ether" is predictable. If they could observe earth from the start as Jones has, then they would potentially be able to predict earth ether too.

Jones has no connection to the ether, but its possible that she's some kind of antennae or something for the court in the future. Would also explain why she is impenetrable even by x-ray, she is possibly existing as some sort of dimensional fold with a shield to prevent the present from being able to see into the future.

It is possible Jones is a resident of the future court who volunteered for this job even if she has no memory of it.
