from what i've read from the creators, it's based on a different book and doesn't have much to do with the original series, apart from Raylan obviously. i'd be surprised if any characters show up from justified except for his ex-wife. hopefully she's aged into an incredibly hot milf.

Season 1 feels more episodic as I believe they were finding their feet. As other anon said, season 2 is fantastic and the best of the show, imo. The other seasons are really good tho, especially season 5.
