Stone cold tried acting as well. It went about as well as you’d think. Talentless, 3 move hack

Literally every wwf star had a movie role, it was like part of their contract to promote the brand or something. They even had their own production company at one point to shit out direct to video releases featuring people like Mankind and Kane who would never get actual roles.

Rock may be a better actor but hes still a sellout in the eyes of autist wrestling fans. He completely abandoned them for Hollywood long long before he would've aged out of his wrestling prime.

Can you really blame him though? Wrestling is an absolutely brutal career and there have been so many of those guys that have died prematurely. Acting is a way easier job and pays much better so it's no surprise he left when he had the chance

As 2001 Zoomer acknowledge the 90s and early 2000s was the preak of pro wrestling. However the Cena vs Orton rivalry in the late 2000s is way better than the shit today.

Some people do believe too strongly in it being real and back in the day they protected the storylines/product much better though it's harder now with social media. What's worse is the people that constantly need to tell you it's fake though. I wonder if those same people go to movies and say to random people "You know this movie is fake right?"

        Anonymous

Not quite like that. They'll point out that something is unrealistic or why is a character doing something stupid, which is equally spastic

It's scripted and predetermined sure, but the matches are still dangerous and plenty of wrestlers have gotten seriously injured over the years. And there has been plenty of real life drama that has worked its way in too just enough to make things seem believable

Remember when Austin skipped the brand split draft in 2002 because he wasn't going to be the first pick?

Remember when he no showed a bunch of Raws in Fall 01 because he had to put kurt angle over for 9/11 reasons and he didn't want to?

Remember when he walked out again because he was seething over lesnar and vince was trying to move on from Austins old ass?

Remember when he didn't want to put The Rock over at WrestleMania 2000 so he got his neck surgery faster than he was supposed to?

Don’t see what the problem was.

From 1999-2003ish, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin was legit one of the most popular men in the USA. He was on the same level as Mark McGuire, Shaq, Kobe, Tyson and even Jordan when it came to popularity. He made Vince McMahon probably $100M+ in revenue

Of course he’s gonna say frick you when Vince wants him to lose just because McMahon has an obsession with big muscly men (Brock) and his moronic ideas of patriotism (Cena, Hogan, and Angle). It’s all a business

For the record he did put Rock over

        Anonymous

Wrestling is moronic. It's a job, you do as your told. The fact that something like the Montreal Screwjob needed to happen because some homosexual crybaby didn't want to lose to another homosexual crybaby in a fake fight is fricking insane. These are you employees, they shouldn't have the power to tell you, nah I'm not gonna lose to that guy.

Wrestlers want to have creative control over their own story, and if the story is good they run with it. If they story is fricking lame, results in a 'wtf why would that happen' or is otherwise shitty, the writers don't get flack, and the wrestler loses revenue from their own merch sales.
They don't get paid a salary, they put their bodies on the line, and if you're fricking with their bread and butter you bet your ass they will have something to say about it.
I wont tell you to go lick a boot, but I'll tell you that you're a fricking homosexual.

Austin didn’t even come up with the character. He’s too stupid and unoriginal, spent most of his career as low card heel “Stunning" Steve Austin, until WWF contracted and it’s writers repackaged him “Stone Cold” Give him credit for mic work, but mediocre wrestler. WWF and Vince made him what he was. Complete creation, they built him and can break him.

To an extent, but the notion that wrestlers need to look like they did in the 80's to retain a modicum of realism is horseshit and it always has been. What wrestlers need to do is maintain a style that is believable and impactful, and said Cucomonga kids do indeed fail to deliver there.

It's not isolated to just pro wrestling. Men today are all sorts of fricked. Women were tricked into thinking they wanted metrosexual men who had manicured nails and worse fashionable clothing. The men who avoided that fad got turned into man children who watched cape shit and collectors toys in their 30s. The men who avoided that got turned into trannies. Men everywhere are completely fricked, wrestling is just where it's the most visible.
