Literally every wwf star had a movie role, it was like part of their contract to promote the brand or something. They even had their own production company at one point to shit out direct to video releases featuring people like Mankind and Kane who would never get actual roles.
Rock may be a better actor but hes still a sellout in the eyes of autist wrestling fans. He completely abandoned them for Hollywood long long before he would've aged out of his wrestling prime.
Can you really blame him though? Wrestling is an absolutely brutal career and there have been so many of those guys that have died prematurely. Acting is a way easier job and pays much better so it's no surprise he left when he had the chance
As 2001 Zoomer acknowledge the 90s and early 2000s was the preak of pro wrestling. However the Cena vs Orton rivalry in the late 2000s is way better than the shit today.
Some people do believe too strongly in it being real and back in the day they protected the storylines/product much better though it's harder now with social media. What's worse is the people that constantly need to tell you it's fake though. I wonder if those same people go to movies and say to random people "You know this movie is fake right?"

It's scripted and predetermined sure, but the matches are still dangerous and plenty of wrestlers have gotten seriously injured over the years. And there has been plenty of real life drama that has worked its way in too just enough to make things seem believable
Dude, what a shot! Prowrestling has some killer beans. I've seen these frickers get pegged in the head with batteries and even full cups of beer, right to the dome.
Do yourself the favor, man. I get it >Why should I bother with the cheap knockoff El Canelo III when El Canelo II was a god-tier luchador?
Trust me, he elevates the mask so much more than people want to think.
The moment Rock switched to wearing "merch" instead of dressing like a Miami drug dealer was when he started going stale. So Nation rock, Corporation Rock, and very early face Rock (right after leaving Corporation)
>that Royal Rumble when only the 2 of them still in the ring for a minute.
We were kids, me n the bros jumped when that happened.
I don't think that 'no way' moment were topped by anything after that.
From 1999-2003ish, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin was legit one of the most popular men in the USA. He was on the same level as Mark McGuire, Shaq, Kobe, Tyson and even Jordan when it came to popularity. He made Vince McMahon probably $100M+ in revenue
Of course he’s gonna say frick you when Vince wants him to lose just because McMahon has an obsession with big muscly men (Brock) and his moronic ideas of patriotism (Cena, Hogan, and Angle). It’s all a business
Wrestling is moronic. It's a job, you do as your told. The fact that something like the Montreal Screwjob needed to happen because some homosexual crybaby didn't want to lose to another homosexual crybaby in a fake fight is fricking insane. These are you employees, they shouldn't have the power to tell you, nah I'm not gonna lose to that guy.
Wrestlers want to have creative control over their own story, and if the story is good they run with it. If they story is fricking lame, results in a 'wtf why would that happen' or is otherwise shitty, the writers don't get flack, and the wrestler loses revenue from their own merch sales.
They don't get paid a salary, they put their bodies on the line, and if you're fricking with their bread and butter you bet your ass they will have something to say about it.
I wont tell you to go lick a boot, but I'll tell you that you're a fricking homosexual.
Lol. Dumbass. They aren’t employees. They are contractors with a character brand to uphold.
If you’re stone cold Steve Austin, with a character worth tens of millions of dollars, why the frick would you get squashed by a rookie just cause he his big muscles? Such a dumb business move
Austin didn’t even come up with the character. He’s too stupid and unoriginal, spent most of his career as low card heel “Stunning" Steve Austin, until WWF contracted and it’s writers repackaged him “Stone Cold” Give him credit for mic work, but mediocre wrestler. WWF and Vince made him what he was. Complete creation, they built him and can break him.
Austin saved the company and won the Monday Night wars and gave Vince total domination of wrestling, but he wasnt shown any respect for his achievement.
>hear CM Punk came back to wrestling >hear he got fired for being an unprofessional KWAB >check out the company that fired him
It was sooooooooooo fricking lame
What in God's name happened to mandrama?
small wimpy kids who grew up watching wrestling became all the wrestlers. It used to be only like big, actually athletic guys who look mean and shit got to become wrestlers to maintain the illusion of reality. Now they let all these little wimpy gymnastic gayboys out there to do highly choreographed flippy shit that looks terrible.
To an extent, but the notion that wrestlers need to look like they did in the 80's to retain a modicum of realism is horseshit and it always has been. What wrestlers need to do is maintain a style that is believable and impactful, and said Cucomonga kids do indeed fail to deliver there.
It's not isolated to just pro wrestling. Men today are all sorts of fricked. Women were tricked into thinking they wanted metrosexual men who had manicured nails and worse fashionable clothing. The men who avoided that fad got turned into man children who watched cape shit and collectors toys in their 30s. The men who avoided that got turned into trannies. Men everywhere are completely fricked, wrestling is just where it's the most visible.
my friend used to have me dress up as trish with my sisters clothes and that's how i became a sissy
one are the only fans left, normie dudebros left for MMA two decades ago
The other company that's not WWE unironically had a fat troony as its first women's champion
Speaking of wrestling
I know there are unironic gays who like it, and I don't really mind. It's all entertainment after all. Just don't be a weirdo who treats people like a piece of meat (granted I do this too but yeah).
btw Stone Cold won, the smashing beer cans intro is kino.
>Kurt Angle gets slapped by Booker's wife Sharmell >He beats the shit out of her >Booker is angry but gets the win >Kurt goes on camera saying he doesn't like to hit women, he likes to 'make them feel good...' >Tells the interviewer he fantasizes about sex with Sharmell >Calls it 'beastiality' sex >Spends episodes stalking her >Corners her in rooms and threatens to rape her >Kidnaps her later >Booker still loses the feud and it ends
I don't actually think it's good, I just laugh thinking about it.
Anybody else used to know people that would get legitimately mad when you would make fun of rasslin'?
I worked with a couple of older guys who would talk endlessly about it in the break room like women used to do with old Soap Operas.
They eventually quit watching it because of all the razzing.
stone cold won
the rock sold out
Stone cold tried acting as well. It went about as well as you’d think. Talentless, 3 move hack
Literally every wwf star had a movie role, it was like part of their contract to promote the brand or something. They even had their own production company at one point to shit out direct to video releases featuring people like Mankind and Kane who would never get actual roles.

Stone Cold was a b***h that wouldn't put over new talent when he was on his way out.
WHAT
WHAT ?
The PG version
As 2001 Zoomer acknowledge the 90s and early 2000s was the preak of pro wrestling. However the Cena vs Orton rivalry in the late 2000s is way better than the shit today.
>However the Cena vs Orton rivalry in the late 2000s is way better than the shit today.
That's because wrasslin' has just consistently gone downhill. Total smarkfest.
Cena vs JBL that shit was tight. 8 yr old me thought JBL died, Cena bled to death a few hours later.
Vince vs. Stone Cold was the best rivalry ever
This. The Rock ended up being a pawn in that rivalry as well.
IT WAS ME AUSTIN!
>wrestling
knew a guy who believed wrestling fights are for real
It's theater
Some people do believe too strongly in it being real and back in the day they protected the storylines/product much better though it's harder now with social media. What's worse is the people that constantly need to tell you it's fake though. I wonder if those same people go to movies and say to random people "You know this movie is fake right?"
Not quite like that. They'll point out that something is unrealistic or why is a character doing something stupid, which is equally spastic
It's scripted and predetermined sure, but the matches are still dangerous and plenty of wrestlers have gotten seriously injured over the years. And there has been plenty of real life drama that has worked its way in too just enough to make things seem believable
Yeah, Owen Hart only fake died
The old guys really respected kayfabe
Konk
Dude, what a shot! Prowrestling has some killer beans. I've seen these frickers get pegged in the head with batteries and even full cups of beer, right to the dome.
jej
Time to wake up boys
imagine being that guy knowing you did that and he'll never find out. what a smug bastard
Why wasn't the ref counting the pin?
Kenny Omega vs Kazuchika Okada's matches all had more than 6 stars
nobody knows who those homies are
Do yourself the favor, man. I get it
>Why should I bother with the cheap knockoff El Canelo III when El Canelo II was a god-tier luchador?
Trust me, he elevates the mask so much more than people want to think.
YOU ALL LOOK FLY TODAY ANONS
GO BE TOO COOL FOR THE MOTHER FRICKERS IN YOUR LIFE
i mostly tuned out during this era except for when there was some breasts and ass on screen
the rock was boring
Let me guess... You want more ?
Yes. Where are the sexfights?
Kiebler is responsible for me being a leg and ass man
You and every other heterosexual millenial.
Nothing quite beats a couple of scantily clad vixens flaunting in between a few sweaty, oiled-up, bulging spandex dry hump matches.
her feet weren't bad either
she looks like katrina bowden here
The rivalry was only good when it was Hollywood Rock as a heel.
The moment Rock switched to wearing "merch" instead of dressing like a Miami drug dealer was when he started going stale. So Nation rock, Corporation Rock, and very early face Rock (right after leaving Corporation)
He started wearing merch shirts in the corporation because he got his manboobs operated on
yes, Steve Austin and Vinnie Mac
nWo 4 life
KWABBBBBBB
vs Sting
Can you post someone who wasn't buck broken in the sweltering hot summer of '92?
You're mixing up your memes newfriend
Alright, he was reverse buck broken so sue me homosexual.
Yes
>that Royal Rumble when only the 2 of them still in the ring for a minute.
We were kids, me n the bros jumped when that happened.

I've heard the 92 special is pretty good
That's a man
Patricians taste
Is that man?
directed by vince mcmahon btw
For me, it's Mitsuhiro Takashiabara vs. El Canelo III
>For me it was when Stone cold won the rights from vince to wwe and was ceo for a while
fricking kino
It's disgusting how sanitized and corporate and reddit wrestling has become
people say the end of the monday night wars killed wrestling. it didn't help, but the deathblow was wwe becoming a publicly traded company.
the promo for that fight was great
>special. . .
I remember when Scotty 2 Hotty was getting modern Cash-In level pops for doing The Worm. The death of the midcard has destroyed wrestling.
Yes. Even though it was short lived Rock vs Hogan was the biggest wrestling event ever. Anyone born after the 90s opinion doesn't count.
I remember watching this as my uncle's house. Probably the last payperview I watched actually. Good match.
Frick off, Hulk no selled the Rock even before going Hulk the entire match
That spiteful Black person can't even pass the torch with some grace
MJF vs Adam Cole
Eddie Guerrero vs JBL
Shawn vs Undertaker
Punk vs Jeff hardy
Look at this fricking know nothing.
BAW GOD
Remember when Austin walked out the night after WrestleMania 18 because he didn't like his place on the card?
Remember when Austin skipped the brand split draft in 2002 because he wasn't going to be the first pick?
Remember when he no showed a bunch of Raws in Fall 01 because he had to put kurt angle over for 9/11 reasons and he didn't want to?
Remember when he walked out again because he was seething over lesnar and vince was trying to move on from Austins old ass?
Remember when he didn't want to put The Rock over at WrestleMania 2000 so he got his neck surgery faster than he was supposed to?
Don’t see what the problem was.

For the record he did put Rock over

it's not a job, they are contractors.
Lol. Dumbass. They aren’t employees. They are contractors with a character brand to uphold.

They're carnies, moron.

For me, it's a 3 minute match from 1978 that ends with an irish whip finish.
modern wwe feels like PG parading around as if it were PG-13.
bump
Vince vs Eric.
Mick Foley vs HHH had everything to be a classic feud, but Mick's body was already giving out.
Their feud goes back to 96, they had plenty of good matches
their match at the rumble was the match that made me a fan of wrestling to this day, I still have the vhs I recorded it on
That 99-2000 period was so good for both of them.
For me, it's the rock and sock connection
THAT'S THE WALL BROTHER
HEY WALL
>hear CM Punk came back to wrestling
>hear he got fired for being an unprofessional KWAB

What in God's name happened to mandrama?
Guys whose parents made them take gymnastics trying to turn that into a way for them to look manly.
small wimpy kids who grew up watching wrestling became all the wrestlers. It used to be only like big, actually athletic guys who look mean and shit got to become wrestlers to maintain the illusion of reality. Now they let all these little wimpy gymnastic gayboys out there to do highly choreographed flippy shit that looks terrible.
Settle down Cornette, wouldn't want you to keel over dead from excitement.
cornette might not be right about everything but he's damn sure right about the Cucamonga kids and their amateurish style of wrestling
To an extent, but the notion that wrestlers need to look like they did in the 80's to retain a modicum of realism is horseshit and it always has been. What wrestlers need to do is maintain a style that is believable and impactful, and said Cucomonga kids do indeed fail to deliver there.
Jim Cornette cannot physically die before Vince Russo. His hate will sustain him.

Yes.
I wish that Mankind, when he feuded with D-X, had the Job Squad to back him up. That would have been a good faction feud
The Rock vs Austin of today
That's not Steen vs Generico
>S-S-STOP THROWING CHAIRS!!!! STOP THE CHAIRS GUYS!!!!

Savage vs Hogan was the best WWE rivalry ever
Speaking of wrestling

Kurt Angle vs Booker T rivalry. Quick tl;dr
>Kurt Angle gets slapped by Booker's wife Sharmell
>He beats the shit out of her
>Booker is angry but gets the win
>Kurt goes on camera saying he doesn't like to hit women, he likes to 'make them feel good...'
>Tells the interviewer he fantasizes about sex with Sharmell
>Calls it 'beastiality' sex
>Spends episodes stalking her

What a time to be a teenager.
If you know, you know.
I used to have this VHS. I wonder if I can find it online.

I worked with a couple of older guys who would talk endlessly about it in the break room like women used to do with old Soap Operas.

Stone Cold always shat over the Rock.
You guys do know it's fake, right?
"Jungle Boy" Jack Perry vs Christian Cage blows it out of the water
Austin is a talentless chump. No flow, limited moves, cant sell, the only thing he had was a mouth.
It's called undertaker vs batista
lol Cinemaphile thinks wrestling is real

I love
>women's wrestling
Her an Torrie are still smokin hot.
Pro wrestling peaked with this man right here
Cream of the fricking crop right there
>gimmick is he is a man
The last thing I cared about in pro wrestling was Jericho and Owens feud. Has someone who was already a heel ever heel-turned before or since?
i get what you mean but jericho turned face owens didn't go double heel
What the frick was Steve Austin shouting as he walked towards the ring in his entrance
Usually, when wrestlers do that they're just talking trash.
Yes. But what?
>*glass shatters*
Still gets me, then you know shits about to get frickin kino
