You are gay
They were doomed even without capeshit but it doesn’t help
they're baiting you
no they aren't
people outside of Cinemaphile aren't constantly baiting like 70% of the posts on this website
no. people outside of Cinemaphile aren't pretending to be moronic for a laugh; they really are.
This. I always see people on Twitter and I think nice bait and laugh, but then I click their profile and that realization sets in that this is a real person. Which is much sadder but also much funnier.
Many people on Cinemaphile are just as inane, ignorant and (especially) insensitive as other sites though.
I say this because Cinemaphile should not be seen as a great exception; it is often just adds abhorrent as any other social media site.
I meant to say “as” not “adds”.
you put too much faith into the morons here, homosexual
I’m willing to give anonymous people the benefit of the doubt that they’re only pretending to be moronic, not normalgays
I’m baiting them
I mean, film student, nerdwriter-type gays are just as insufferable and worse of all, they're all commies
which is funny that they support an ideology that would gladly toss them into reeducation camps and gulags to learn how to become good communist and purge the capitalism (supporting the film and entertainment industry) out of them.
The average person is just a fricking moron
You realize this is just the number of non-White going up, right? IQ is pegged at 100 for White and everyone relative to that. Average IQ dropping means there are more non-White.
don't be racist
Karens are all white and they’re the dumbest class of people by far. Second dumbest is Russians whenever they have to drive more than five minutes down the road.
You’ve gotten your sense of the world from your social media echo chamber
Americans are THE dumbest people. White, Black folk, israelites, etc.
Imagine just live in a country which was literally founded on a lie
>t. Russhit with no money for lada
Satan, yuo debil, I don't have money to even move out of my parents yet, I am jobless, just like you. For now...
Doesn't matter. Americans are THE dumbest people.
Imagine going to some country to die for Israel and at best do some petty war crimes against defenceless sand Black folk, because normal ones rape you.
Imagine believing in some evil KGB Bezmenov when it is YOUR CIA and FBI and ATF that is killing and crippling YOU
Imagine calling yourself land of the free then "ackhually free doesn't mean free"
America's language is English. Dog shit , where A is "ai" and "a", where o is "o" or "u". Where some letters aren't even proncounced! Or some words like colonel pronounced as "kernel", what the frick, can you even read what you just wrote you stupid negr!
Imagine being so subverted you are blaming white supremacy while actually israelites who are only 3% minority actually controlling everything around you and they call themselves white or non white depending on the propaganda and narrative they want to spill!
By the way, Russia has some problems in language too.
Belorussian language is much better in the regard. You write it as you pronounce it, same shit with Croatian-Serbian one. Pure kino and honorable honorary white language. Imagine that
baza
karens are not stupid iq wise
they are just totally deluded
also you clearly have selection bias
the amount of karens i have encounterd in my life i can count on my hands but i see stupid Black folk every single day
You are actually mentally ill or some kind of disgusting amerimutt freak that has never left their little vermin nest corner of NYC/LA if you genuinely think some uppity middle aged white b***hes are the dumbest people around
Karens are all white, because we have stronger words for Black women that act uppity
This is a cope. Intelligence has been declining among whites since the Industrial Revolution. This meta-analysis of studies of reaction-time shows that IQ has declined by roughly 13.35 points since the Victorian Era.
http://www.iapsych.com/iqmr/fe/LinkedDocuments/woodley2013.pdf
Cope. Asians are better problem solvers therefore have a higher iq. Although that doesn't mean much.
Before some chud goes crazy this is on average. Most inventors and creators are still white
You know how dumb the average person is? Well half of the people are dumber than that.
Turns out Flynn was right, he just got it the wrong way round.
IQ is a scale, the average is 100 by definition you tards
But the average IQ isn't 100. It's basic graph design.
Your IQ def isn't 100
Mine's 160 and I'm an incel NEET what do?
Got a friend with a 180 and he lives in his grandmothers basement, he just can't deal with people out side his small circle of friends.
He's lying to you moron
You can train to score better, there are books that teach you how.
The paid ones are all memes.
The only "legitimate" test is the one a psychologist gives you: https://openpsychometrics.org/tests/FSIQ/
IQ 132 brainlet here, why even live?, smart enough to understand the world ,not smart enough to change it.
>tfw 135
>smarter than the majority of people I meet
>not smart enough for it to naturally show just by being myself and carrying out my life
>so ironically, everyone thinks I’m a complete fricking moron
I literally just got the spaghetti spilling and being unable to connect to other people with none of the school scholarships.
I wish I was a moron lads
135 IQ is definitely more than enough for people to notice your intelligence whenever you talk. You're just not as smart as you think you are, probably got that from a shitty internet IQ test as well.
that's just you, mine is 135 as well and lots of people that know me personally think I'm a genius
tho tbh people that are supposed to be as smart as me do seem a little dumber and I unironically have genius genes so maybe IQ doesn't always give you a total indicator of how smart you are or what you're capable of etc etc but going by the numbers you should at least be capable of convincing morons you're some kind of einstein
>genius genes
explain
my family has a lot of geniuses and my grandparents had 160+ IQs but my dad dumbed me down(but gave me super empathy)
>my dad dumbed me down(but gave me super empathy)
so your dad ruined your genetic line for you but made you more tolerable to be around? not sure if that is based or not, or what it would be based on
Well the thing is my guy, life is really complicated and you can't just view romantic relationships and having a family through the lens of what someone can materially offer you and your lineage. Sometimes things just work out differently than the technical "optimal" choice, and honestly, from the kind of person my mom was there was simply no other option and given her disposition it probably was the best option. Intelligence isn't everything and I've frankly got plenty of it and having super intuition the likes of which only the truly creative/imaginative will understand coupled with a deep natural understanding of how people work and feel is a very potent combination no matter which way you slice it. I wouldn't say I'm more tolerable to be around necessarily, depending on who you ask I'm a total ass hole or an extremely cool guy, but I understand people in a way that frankly I know almost no one else does. I've never met someone like me before, and that's not just egotistical delusion. I'm genuinely just one of god's prototypes and I'm totally comfortable with that.
>I'm genuinely just one of god's prototypes
sure
having any sense of empathy has only been detrimental to myself and my family, though
It's a curse for sure and the more you have of it the worse it can potentially be, but that's only if you aren't able to use it for the good of yourself and others. You need the disposition to be a benefit to anyone to go along with it, otherwise you will languish the squalor of self pity and lament.
actually you will anyway. Bright side is druk threads are really fuin.
so what do you do, where you work and how much is pay?
didn't answer. So much for a geniys
Love me some kayla
You have to be 18 to post here
You must just not be that smart then. I’m the smartest guy that most people I know know. I’ve never made any effort to seem intelligent and I often try to suppress it instead. If you really are that intelligent it will shine through in some way. If you weren’t even able to achieve good school grades then you are probably just average. Sorry.
129 here, can totally relate.
All of you are suckers, I don't need a test to know I'm moronic.
>128 IQ tested back when I was a kid
>Can't do IQ tests anymore because I get stressed and get a mental block that completely fricks up my score
At least people tell me I'm smart, I guess that's something. But I am nowhere near as smart as they told me I was, at least I don't think so. Parents and teachers making me feel like my intelligence was my greatest asset ended up fricking me up, it ironically made me more insecure about my intelligence since that was the thing that gave me value.
My parents had me tested when I was 5 for an entrance exam into some fancy-pants school that I don't remember. Supposedly I scored 145, but I think it's more likely that I was a precocious kid punching above my weight because I'm a total moron. I seem to be the only one in my life who realizes I'm moronic though.
>overall IQ is 116
>In all categories but one it was like 140+
>in one category it was in the 70s (I think it was processing speed or something)
What does this mean for me bros?
>>in one category it was in the 70s (I think it was processing speed or something)
you can't juggle a lot things at once while thinking/solving a problem
I took an IQ test once and received a score of 101. That's right motherfrickers I'm smarter than the average person, suck my genius dick.
Note that this graph correlates with the meteoric rise of African and South Asian populations.
It’s because niggs and poos and chinks have had population explosions and the vast numbers of low iqs have simply taken an even larger majority of the global population
>inb4 chinese test scores at their like two prestigious schools
Chinks primary cultural value is cheating. Cheating isn’t even an unspoken rule in china it’s a spoken and shouted from the rooftops rule.
Ask yourself, besides gunpowder, and definite props to chinks for that, what of your daily use technological advances that you rely on day to day came from China? That’s right none.
Don’t get me started on poos and joggers. Additionally all the inbred muzzies throughout central and Western Asia are also idiots and they overpopulate as well.
Tldr whites don’t have enough children to impact global numbers and they are the only ones who contribute to civilizational progress due to their inherent high iqs
So explain the literacy rates of majority white USA.
so what, Zack Snyder and Tom Holland can't read (HELP ME HELP ME I CAN'T READ!) and they are greatest craftsmen in their respective arts
quick now go by each state noting its demographics
To people outside of the US Americans are Americans. You're the ones obsessed with breaking things down into race and class statistics. To us? You're all just burgermutts. So I include you in that.
Based. Mutts are greaseborn illiterate golems and are all the same mentally ill freaks.
this also explains what's happened to the internet, and television.
>whites blaming the nigs
>when they're letting their reproduction rates get raped by lgbt (white) and feminism (soooo white it originated with women trying to obstruct black people from voting by doubling the white vote)
>just started college last year (dropped out of high school so had to repeat shit and am in my mid 20s with a bunch of zooms)
>mentioned watching a black and white movie to my flat mates and they were unironically in awe and looked at me like I was unhinged, like I was had said I wanted to stab them to death and play around in their blood
>one of them (she was the most based one) once mentioned that the wolf of Wall Street was her favourite kino
>the other morons started saying it is…. LE PRETENTIOUS and people only pretend to like Martin Scorcese movies
>keep asking me if I’ve seen the latest capeshit and every time I politely say nah I didn’t find the time they get diagonal eyebrow mode and go OH ARE YOU TOO PRETENTIOUS FOR POPULAR MOVIES HUH?????
>were like oh anon you watch subtitled movies? LE PRETENTIOUS???????
>then were watching squid game and raving over it the next week because their overlords told them to
I’m in hell bros
How is any of that pretentious?
It's not. They heard it once and thought it sounded smart, it's also the biggest word their minds can contain so they say it constantly for a boost of dopamine
They're genuinely insecure about their intelligence and taste to believe anything that isn't mainstream garbage is pretentious.
I'm only 25 but i'd probably blow my brains out if i had to hang out with people like this.
A friend of mine had a roommate in Uni that became a running joke amongst some of the foids they both roomed with because the guy was a fan of Skyrim and listened to its soundtrack every so often. I forget that even with normie culture subsuming nerd shit, there are still acceptable and unacceptable nerdy things. Granted, this was around six years ago, perhaps the lockdown creating this new phenomenon of normerds has made that kind of thing no longer seem weird to the zoomers.
>the guy was a fan of Skyrim and listened to its soundtrack every so often
sounds based to me
it's amazing what a few years of difference makes in your 20's
went to a birthday/apartment warming last night and he was turning 23 and everyone just brought bags chips. my wife and i (27) brought a homemade charcuterie board and a set of wine glasses for him.
anyway to keep this TV he goes and sees every single capeshit movie and always tries to get me to go when I say i'm not interested. idk how they can sit through that constant slop.
i watch most capeshit but i couldn't imagine being one of these uberconsumers that try and drag other people into it and insist they enjoy it. if i'm gonna take someone to the movies i'd at least try and pick something interesting.
maybe you'd be better off if you did kill them and play in their blood, in minecraft
watch this sometime and keep your head up
Based.
Keep seething Chuck. Your boring show will never be even a fraction as relevant as the newest Marvel schlock.
Anyone remember that random ass scene of Wolf Of Wall Street that had foo fighters in it. It felt so out of place and is the only scene in the whole movie like that. Like why?
Here it is towards the end.
I haven't seen it in a while so maybe I'm just misremebering the general tone of the movie, but that doesn't seem that out of place and I don't remember it striking me as out of place any of the times I watched it.
I always figured it was just to indicate that at that point the characters were living in the mid nineties
I would've murdered them all tbh
IDK, the based girl seems... Well, based.
If anything they're the ones being pretentious; affording any praise to the purely banal.
>"OH ARE YOU TOO PRETENTIOUS FOR POPULAR MOVIES HUH?????"
>"Yes"
>walks away
Nothing feels better than just doing the Yes Chad meme in real life. It is extremely satisfying and a btfo every single time.
Very true
Thank fricking god I finished uni by 2012, I couldn't imagine going now
I remember studying history around that time. My course was full of white girls who seemed permanently pissed off that 99% of what they had to study was to do with men. They were always going on about women in history and their influence. (fricking lmao) This was also the first time I experienced moralising in academic history. Before then, I didn’t think that anyone judged historical figures by our current modern day standards. I was so wrong.
Looking back a lot of this was about 8 years ago and it was an elite university, so when you see some article in a lefty journal about how white man bad and we need to tear down his statue, they probably went to uni with me.
They have a point though. You're a high school dropout, so you're using pretentious films (which you are probably too stupid to understand) to make yourself seem intelligent. Nobody with an IQ over 100 (the people who didn't have to repeat like morons) watches that nonsense.
NTA but the real morons think american public high schools are real vigorous tests of intelligence. High schools are moron machines and I consistently hear about very intelligent, accomplished, and skillful people who are dropouts. Also it's consistently morons with no taste in art that describe everything obscure or everything their brains can't fathom as "pretentious". It's like clockwork.
Most of the time I hear people calling something pretentious, it's because of something like that one porn chick's video where she's squatting naked over a canvas dropping eggs out of her vegana and peeing a little bit. A not-so-out-there example would be that dude who flings paint and sells his paintings for obscene amounts of money to vain rich people. But maybe that's selective memory because I'm so used to tuning out people chimping out with buzzwords on here.
literally though
Yeah, it's the same chick who did that video where she's standing around in public with a box hung around her waist which has a cloth-covered opening over her crotch, letting strangers come up and finger her a bit. M-something. Moira maybe, IDR. It's been posted on here hundreds of times, maybe not Cinemaphile but other boards.
>that dude who flings paint and sells his paintings for obscene amounts of money to vain rich people
Jackson Pollock?
>then were watching squid game and raving over it the next week because their overlords told them to
you do sound pretty pretentious
Damn when i was in school i dont think i heard the word pretentious used once by anyone. Guess zoomies found a new buzzword to call anything they dont like
Just call him a moron next time.
Why indulge his bullshit
cry about it homosexual
Anon you don't actually have to hang with these homosexuals you can find new friends who have the same taste as you.
Trips of glorious truth there
Agreeability is a b***h. being in the bottom 6th percentile has limited my amount of friends but at least they like the shit that I like
>being in the bottom 6th percentile
Of what?
>all responding seriously to a copypasta
I had this same conversation but replace Scorcese with Tarantino
Tarantino is capeshit
The most intelligent/adult thing you can do is appreciate different movies for what they are. It's okay to enjoy capeshit for what it is (blockbuster popcorn flicks), and then watch old/black-and-white/whatever the frick 'pretentious' movie you want and enjoy them for whatever they are trying to accomplish.
Dismissing either as 'too pretentious' or 'mindless normieshit' is peak midwit mentality.
>mindless normieshit' is peak midwit mentality.
Being able to enjoy mindless normie shit without becoming bored to tears means that you are a midwit, or worse. Sorry pal
no u
You can recognize objective quality, realize that not everything is a fricking masterpiece, and adjust your expectations accordingly. It's not "I like this so it's good", it's "I know that this isn't good, but I can still get some enjoyment out of it." Sure there are moves that are just flat out 'bad' but most aren't like that.
Fair enough. My pet peeve is just people who praise some typical arthouse fare for being different, when much of it just plainly not very good and was just hyped up over time for whatever reason.
>My pet peeve is just people who praise some typical arthouse fare for being different, when much of it just plainly not very good and was just hyped up over time for whatever reason.
Same. Didn't meant to give the impression that was what I was saying. I said 'old'black-and-white' because that was what the person I originally applied to referenced.
>The most intelligent/adult thing you can do is appreciate different movies for what they are.
It's even more intelligent to see the objective quality in a film. Sure you can enjoy crap and have your guilty pleasures, but if you think they're good just because you like them, you're dumb.
I've seen so many pseuds trying to justify why some old artsy b/w movie is supposedly good but with no actual arguments, it's sad. And I say this as someone who generally appreciates classic movies, I'm just not duped by literal pretentiousness.
Honestly, I sort of get it. Like, I am an ESL and I achieved my current grasp on English not just because formal education didn't care for English classes, but specifically because no one forced me to just get good at it. I got internet, got bored of it because there was no content in my language and started chatting people overseas, and it snowballed from there. So, when I see film school students sighing about studying films they have to study in the program, I sort of get that contrarian impulse that might have nothing to do with movie itself. If person isn't interested in studying Orson Welles I think there are plenty of other classics to study from and take valuable lessons for the kind of movie kid wants to make.
This I don't get, it's one thing when you are forced to study something, but it's entirely other thing to just be confused how someone chooses to spend their leisure time. Like, yeah, classic movies hold up, watch Kurosawa those are great movies, watch Glengarry Glen Ross, watch one of my favorite movies Paper Moon, if not the favorite one, it had no technical limitation to be white and black but it chose to do that.
Get over yourself
gay
You're not alone anon. Had roomates in my early twenties that thought I was diseased for wanting to watch movies from the fricking 70s. Just recently had to listen to my forty something year old father in-law talk shit about dirty Harry then immediately turn around and ask me if I saw Kenobi
I don’t like Dirty Harry because I fricking hate cops.
Congrats homosexual it's still kino.
Someone got taken home to his parents after getting caught shoplifting or spray painting, huh?
Your father in-law sounds like a peak manchild kek
Find a better circle of friends. You can do it. I had the same people surrounding me, so I branched out and met new people. I wasn’t a film student, but there was a film club at my uni and I met a lot of cool people there, though some were admittedly turbo autists. No need to suffer fools or suffer what’s in front of you, expand your circle, go out and join different clubs and be yourself. When you find your people you’ll be happier for it, rather than dredging along with people whom you hate or who have zero understanding of you. The only people you HAVE to cope with are your family.
You sound like a mental midget.
kek reminds me of what happened to me a couple of weeks ago
>graduated college in 2012
>majored in Chinese language so I know a Chinese foreign exchange teacher around my age who is teaching English at a Chinese university now
>she calls me and puts me on speaker phone so her class of Chinese zoomers can ask me questions in English
>mfw they only ask me about capeshit and when the newest Spider-Man movie is coming to China
The next day they asked me to recommend some American cartoons, so I said Winnie the Pooh.
this is literally pretentious though
reminder
It's a nice quote, not intended to be high art, and I hate that this frick ruined it by pretending it was something profound.
what is grief if not [definition of grief] yea
what is grief if not constant lingering gas pains after eating taco bell?
you homosexuals would find a pothole deep.
Thats good, anon. I'm using that
Got the one where the guy says this is the best line in all of film and then he gets super defensive?
people make fun of this all the time, but every time I see it it makes it look like he's making fun of it and the people who would perceive it as LE DEEP
I know who wrote this and something unspeakably tragic happened to them when they were a kid. Not gonna say what or who but it sucks to see everyone shitting on them for something that was really authentic
Hope it happens to you next.
You're not fooling anybody. Go back and tell your supervisor to send someone who knows what they are doing.
If it makes you feel any better, all I see is articles defending the line and going on about how it resonated with so many people. A few hundred blue checkmark edgelords tearing into it means nothing, except maybe that someone' setting up preliminary scaffolding to later defile yet another cultural icon.
>I know who wrote this
its some fat woman
Kind of goes out the window when it's crammed between racial hatred and propaganda.
>something unspeakably tragic happened to them when they were a kid
Mommy refused to buy them mobile phone?
It's a twist on a CS Lewis quote
"The pain I feel now is the happiness I had before. That's the deal"
if it was actually authentic then they should've have attached it to something that was actually worth an artistic damn instead of soulless capeshit.
>them
dilate
For capeshit it’s a great quote, so good for the screenwriter. But to act like it’s high art is nonsense. Good shit can still creep it’s way through capeshit.
What is cheese if not milk persevering?
Good character writing doesn't make comic book movies art.
>What is drip if not swag persevering?
What is Sneed if not Chuck persevering?
The average American is a perfectly sculpted israeli golem that is subservient to what the current popular "thing" is.
You can not reason or debate with them as they are wholey irrational "people" that can only ever react to negative stimuli.
This is bait. I was in film school and it was the opposite. Most of my classmates loved the worst shit you can possible imagine.
you do realise that 18 year old zoomers are now in film class though? film school must have been fricking hell this year with all the prequelmemers heading to college
yuh on god that Hitchwiener deadass ain’t bussin fr fr
To be fair, Vertigo is shit. Looks good, but that is it.
It looks great but also it was one of my first Hitchwieners so the allusions to the supernatural actually had me for a bit there.
Vertigo was my second Hitchwiener, first one was Birds.
I knew it was some conspiracy created by the husband because he tells the ex-cop he got the job thanks to the wife (I think the company was owned by her family). There is an old book I had to read at school were something similar happens, but it was a house and a small store built with the help of the woman.
My first was Psycho and Vertigo was my second too. But again Psycho is probably one of Hitchwiener's most famous and parodied films so it wasn't as suspenseful to me. The reveal/twist in Vertigo happens almost too quick to process, when you see what actually happened at the top of the bell tower. And I didn't actually clock that Judy and Madeline were the same actress at first either. Maybe I'm just dumb/slow but it makes for a satisfying second watch anyway.
yes
comic book films are a product of the lowering iq not the cause
How many brothers fell victim to the streets?
Rest in peace, young homie, there's a Heaven for a G
Be a lie if I told you that I never thought of death
My homies, we the last ones left, but life goes on

Rest in peace, young homie, there's a Heaven for a G
Be a lie if I told you that I never thought of death
My homies, we the last ones left, but life goes on
As I bail through the empty halls, breath stinkin' in my jaws
Ring, ring, ring, quiet y'all, incoming call
Plus this my homie from high school, he's getting by
It's time to bury another brother, nobody cry
Life as a baller: alcohol and booty calls
We used to do them as adolescents, do you recall?
Raised as G's, loc'ed out and blazed the weed
Get on the roof, let's get smoked out and blaze with me
2 in the morning and we still high assed out
Screaming "thug till I die" before I passed out
But now that you're gone, I'm in the zone
Thinking I don't wanna die all alone, but now ya gone
And all I got left are stinkin' memories
I love them homies to death, I'm drinkin' Hennessy
While trying to make it last
I drank a fifth for that ass when you passed
Cause life goes on
How many brothers fell victim to the streets?
Rest in peace, young homie, there's a Heaven for a G

this fat Black person is not funny without nick
They aren't wrong about the plot of Vertigo being unrealistic but that they don't get that its part of the surreal style of the movie does show they don't understand movies.
No. Dumb people have always existed. It's just now easy to identify them coz they advertise shit like how much they like comic book movies.
I saw Dial M For Murder and i thought it was one of the worst movies i ever seen, so maybe nostalgia does cover up shit film making sometimes.
Sometimes it's because the film was the first to do something so naturally watching it in the present day you're going to have a different experience watching it than someone decades ago would. Like you're not going to coom over a shot showing a ceiling in Citizen Kane without any context.
I dont know man, i just thought it was a very boring movie with mediocre acting, same goes for Rope, both kind of blend together for me as just very boring mystery films. I saw The Seventh Seal. from around the same time and it thought it was a masterpiece.
I've watched masterpieces and found them boring. You're not going to like eveything. At least you can appreciate them on a technical level.
Yeah i guess, i was watching Rope and i noticed it was a single take and i was like "oh thats interesting".
I find whats usually lacking is context. Sometimes it takes knowing the right history, or reading the right book for it to click
I don't think you really start to appreciate "masterpieces" until you've seen so many movies that you start being able to predict stuff that happens in films you're seeing for the first time. Stuff like:
>car chase
>"We've got company!"
and
>"oh no! I've got two dates on the same night... in the same restaurant!"
and
>"3...2...1... jumpscare."
When everything becomes predictable these "boring" films become a lot more interesting, because they're stylistically different. At least that's how I feel.
Yep the "Seinfeld isn't funny" effect. The worst genre for this is sci-fi since every new sci-fi flick combines EVERY element from EVERY previous sci-fi movie.
Seinfield makes me laugh like a maniac, i dont know how people say its outdated.
The idea is since seinfeld was so successful most of the sitcoms of the following decade were extremely derivative and borrowed heavily from it, leading people who are already familiar with shows like Always Sunny, How I Met your Mother, Friends, etc. to find Seinfeld boring and formulaic when they are introduced to it.
I feel like people who suck off Citizen Keene haven't ever watched a silent film. They do almost all the same stuff she ate much better. Napoleon and Champagne, for example.
>she ate much better.
Who is she? What did she eat?
I looked that movie but I have a crush on Grace Kelly.
I looked that movie but I have a crush on Grace Kelly.
Out of all the Hitchwiener's that I've seen I would say:
> Shadow of a Doubt
> Psycho
> To Catch a Thief
> North By Northwest
Are for sure bangers
then youre moronic no offense Dial M For Murder is great so is Vertigo
Cinemaphile memed me into watching The Seventh Seal, and I wasn't exactly blown away by it.
>take a film class just for fun
>watch all the film majors give presentations
>guy giving presentation on cinematography talks about set design and costume design
>girl giving presentation on sound design shows an animated short and says "all the sounds were done in post"
>guy giving presentation on editing shows a clip and proceeds to explain the plot and then when it comes to why he picked the clip he says "it shows editing because it's a montage"
>no one, and I mean no one, actually uses a single film making technical term
>I give my presentation on cinematography, explain what lenses were used, what cameras were used, how you could tell from the image distortion, how the scene was lit, and what effect they had in telling the story
>teacher says she likes how I actually demonstrated film making knowledge in my presentation despite being the only one in class not majoring in film
I feel sorry for film teachers. It must be even worse than teaching kids how to code.
I studied in art in college. We had a lot of hands on film production classes in the art department, more so than the actual film department. I joined the school film club and every fricking one of them was a film major who looked at me like I was a god because I knew basic shit like how to handle light equipment.
you're taking it for extra credit & mogs the rest of em'?
Good job, anon.
If you're doing it for fun you're clearly passionate about it and that'll show. I was a moron when it came to math and science but I enjoyed English and got good grades. Not even the best grades, but my teacher payed more attention to me than the people getting top scores which confused me back then.
but the thing is they're film majors. I'm sure they're just as passionate about it as I am if not more, and they'd probably suck a million dicks to get a chance to work at a Disney green screen factory, but they're just complete dumbasses who can't take films apart into their smaller components.
I was a moron when it came to math and science but I enjoyed English and got good grades.
What the frick are you me
>Not even the best grades, but my teacher payed more attention to me than the people getting top scores which confused me back then.
Can’t speak for you but my teacher of two consecutive years told me it was because he sensed my passion for the subject which he felt he needed to nurture because men in the English field are a dying breed. That guy was the most unironic gigachad I’ve ever met but he was also pretty autistic. If nothing else he was the main reason I’m getting a masters in English ed
>takes an entry level film class that is so basic its open to non majors
>proceeds to show how autistic you are
>brag that you're more autistic than first semester film students
lmaoing
People like you are the reason why the Freddy Mercury movie won an Oscar for editing.
Being passionate and knowledgeable about a subject your studying isn't autism anon. Perhaps that's why your such a failure in life and working in McDonald's.
jokes on you im a neet
the film students are bad but a lot of teachers are equally moronic
>took an intro to film class for an easy A, about 100 students
>failed actress milf professor is talking about directing actors
>shows a clip from oceans 11 "this director does a good job juggling all the stars personalities"
>shows a clip from magic mike "this director has no idea what they're doing"
>raise my hand while she's talking
>"you know both of your examples are steven soderbergh, right?"
>a few students laugh, she stares blankly for a second before saying "i had no idea" and moving on
most film professors are dumbass failures who get off on having an assistant grip credit on some one season sitcom 20 years ago. the only film classes worth taking are tiny lectures about hyperspecific subjects
>take class for easy A
>humiliate the prof in front of other students
You just sabotaged yourself, moron.
I took into to film class back in 2008 and the teacher was based. IIRC we watched
>Double Indemnity
>Wild Things
>Thelma and Louise
>The Thin Blue Line
>Do the Right Thing
>Rear Window
>Run Lola Run
I might be forgetting one or two, but it was a pretty good variety that would appeal to just about anyone without being too difficult for normalgays to stomach.
We had
>Citizen Kane
>Halloween
>Inside Man
>District 9
>Stories we tell
And some other stuff I'm forgetting. We also watched some short stuff by Melies
my film intro class was
>Rosemary's Baby
>Apocalypse Now
>Chinatown
>Juno
>The Maltese Falcon
>Yojimbo
and I dont remember the rest
The only film classes worth taking are ones run by philosophy professors.
Did the teacher explain all of those things to the student or did they just make them watch a bunch of criterion could and then huffed their own farts the rest of the time.
>zoomie immediately blames the teacher
>It must be even worse than teaching kids how to code.
The nice thing about programming is it filters bullshitters and brainlets hard. If your code is wrong the computer just says You Are Wrong, butthole.
that is until you get to advanced frauds who frick up an entire codebase for everyone by emitting delayed-release moronation, like putting unmaintainable structures, methods that only work by having broken logic in them, breaking everyone else's code in subversive ways and other shit. and actually proving how destructive these people to management is next to impossible because they're normies and don't understand what code rot is. but this is only an issue in shit companies because people like these tend to multiply until they destroy the company
was this an intro film class? if so, then you can't blame students for not knowing specific technical terms
Of course morons want to major in "film" because they think it'll just be doing nothing but watching movies all day, and then they'll get jobs working in Hollywood once they graduate. It's a magnet major for low-IQ people.
actually they raised them
If comic book movies lowered everyone's media literacy, then why didn't it affect you?
I don't watch them
>talking shit about Seven Samurai
Seven Samurai is one of the most entry level foreign films kek. It’s not like it’s Satantango.
And your point is?
That capeshitters thinking that Seven Samurai is boring is really stupid. Are you autistic?
It's especially funny because Seven Samurai is the precursor to capeshit. Star Wars is almost completely taken from Kurosawa
That was The Hidden Fortress, though
I said in general Star Wars was largely inspired by Kurosawa. Lucas even financed Kagemusha. So it’s embarrassing seeing capeshit fans mock him when he’s arguably the most accessible director of his era by today’s standards
for me its rashomon
It could easily be cut down to an about 90 minute film and not lose any quality.
Nymphomaniac on the other hand deserved to be 4 and a half hours instead of split into two.
This, fricking plebs
7 Samurai isn't even artsy/pretentious on any stretch, it's a straight up action-adventure film.
Now, if you said Tokyo Monogatari...
for me, it's Yojimbo
man this dude seriously was Japanese John Wayne, wasn't he?
Yes, yes he was
35, I'm the only person of the people around my age who I grew up with that watches subtitled films or has seen anything made before the 2000s .
Weren't even especially into capeshit either. They mainly just watched le generic crime/military movie or le generic Will Smith movie or Sandler/early 2000s comedy.
This. Zoomers think they understand film because they saw tiktok recs from a guy who read one letterboxd list
I knew a guy who only watched Adam Sandler comedies, bang bang war movies and Will Smith movies, the occassional pg rated heist movie. Maybe some videogame adaptations but he admitted years later he wasn't actually that big on games.
The oldest movie he'd seen was top gun and he thought blade runner was too old and slow.
Everything was too boring, subtitled or violent.
He hated all the anime I got him to watch aswell and never showed any interest in the opposite sex until recently.
He was into sports and cars.
From what I remember he wouldn't eat anything remotely exotic to him either.
I got on with him because he was funny, but he was miles away from being a nerd.
To be fair Blade Runner IS very slow. It’s not very long, and it’s a fantastic movie, but it’s also very slow paced, there are huge sequences with no dialogs and just Deckard wanking around (and it’s kino)
Was his name Danny? Sounds spot on exactly like a college roommate of mine
Vertigo is shit
Objectively shit
My favourite movies are Lawrence of Arabia and In Bruges. Am I pretentious or an npc?
Neither, you sound based.
you sound like a pretty cool guy
If someone over the age of 15 unironically cares about capeshit or harry potter I dismiss their opinions on any subject matter.
No exceptions.
Hell, I bet 15 year olds actually have based tastes because they're constantly pushed with inferior versions of what millenials liked.
159 IQ. Never attended college. Never finished high school. For me growing up was a hobbesian type of existence, where every kid in my classroom didn't want to be there, couldn't be taught and didn't want to learn and hated anybody that did. I was constantly bullied and picked on for being smart to point of where I had to become a bully myself just to survive. I did alot of damage.
Now that I'm adult, I would like to think this sort of behavior is no longer prevalent among people but it does set a precedent. You can see it with what type of music what type of movies, what type of tv shows, even sport drives today's culture. Popular mainstream music is just spoken word recorded over top of simple four by four beat (Rap), popular tv shows and movies are all straight forward formulaic three acts dramas, and most popular sport is simple game of five on five basketball (NBA).
This is culture that we now live in. This is what the constant dumbing down of a country gets you and why we are now fricked as species. Everything you ever loved, all great art, film, music, sport, literature and television may never of existed at all because to vast majority of people out there it's like it never did in first place. It's also why I have no hope for future as I remember what was it like growing up. These types of people have destroyed everything.
For a 159 you sure do type like a 59
man i haven't seen this pasta in years
>Never attended college. Never finished high school. For me growing up was a hobbesian type of existence,
If you're so smart, why drop out of high school?
That and Tik Tok
Vertigo is definitely one of Hitchwiener's worse films, I don't know why it consistently makes top 5 lists. Whoever put that North by Northwest reference in the Simpsons had good taste.
I think his worst one is the one with the dead chick in the lake. She had a nice ass, but other than that it's made me give up on my Hitchwiener filmography binge
I watched The Exterminating Angel and A Man Escaped earlier this year and found them both engaging but I feel like most people would find them boring.
>take that MENSA online IQ test for shits and giggles
>tfw 102
The idea that, by the time you're in the mid 20s (or 30s, IDR) count for those patterns, there are people who are still able to blow through those is like fricking wizardry to me.
Every film major I've ever met has been a colossal idiot who seems to know nothing about films outside of capeshit or Wes Anderson.
Entertainement is all that matters.
The real midwit is the one that tries to learn using entertainement.
If you want to learn, use materials for learning, like books, tools, lessons.
People with low intelligence have no standards. No concept of what it means to have a flourishing life. All that matters: "It gets the job done."
You can eat nothing but cheap hotdogs and vitamin supplements. They get the job done.
Why not watch literal baby television? It gets the job done. It passes your life in consumption.
What is entertaining to you is genuinely like children's cartoons to me. It may be hard to believe there exist people which higher standards and god forbid a higher IQ than you, but it's true. What entertains you is boring and trite to me.
>If you want to learn
This reveals you have no idea why smart people like what they like. They don't like it because they are learning something. It could be that the work has more depth which the smart people instantly understand but the normies have to take the time to "learn" in order to process more information that's less familiar. Where you have to learn to keep up I've already understood.
Did this homosexual with the capeshit avatar just shit on Harakiri? Fricking embarrassing.
>3 hours long
more likely Seven Samurai which is the only Kurosawa movie most people know about, but it's from the fifties not thirties. No one has heard of Seppuku unless they have an interest in old jap movies
>tfw people don't know his social realist movies from the late 40s early 50s
>Drunken Angel, Scandal, and especially Stray Dog which is turbokino
sad
It's also the good kind of social realist films where there's actually an interesting plot and compelling characters, not just emo shit like FNW
>samurais
>pretentious
the absolute state of these literal morons kek
I use to be highly intelligent. When I was still in middle school I shadowed a public high school and remember thinking how moronic and easy the classes were. Being a kid I picked the least effort school and did the minimum effort.
Even still, I was still very intelligent all through out high school. 7 years of being a NEET and I'm completely moronic. Its very painful thinking of how slow I am. I literally turned myself into a moron and I'm still not happy.
Unless you had top grades you're just deluding yourself.
Well I hope you can find comfort in knowing that there is still an escape by getting rid of your degrading habits and restoring gray matter in your brain.
Do not engage with those people unless they come to you, they have surrendered their reasoning faculty to other shady areas of interest/people.
Marvel movies are overwhelmingly stupid, illogical, lacking in plot and unrealistic in visuals.
Yes, and ruined zoomers' perception of cinema. Comments like these really piss me off.
>act your ass off for 50+ years
>an entire generation of kids knows you mainly as "that guy who played Odin"
>Charlize Theron being to reduced to "x character from y capeshit movie"
god I hate the fricking kids who leave these comments on yt
bro no cap fr fr
I hate being stupid. Like I want to be an intelligent person - I try to read as much as possible. But I just seem to keep constantly tripping over myself and questioning every opinion I have on life. I feel completely lost and I watch other people excel in specific areas and I want nothing more than to be that person. It bothers me. I actually TRY to be intelligent but everytime I look back on waht I said or how I said it I cringe internally. I yearn to be smart but I think my IQ is more or less 100. I feel stupid when I read things that other people seem to be able comprehend quickly. I think living as a stupid person is real suffering. I know tehy say smart people are less happy compared to the stupid but it seems to me that it's much more fulfilling to be intelligent than to be happy.
It seems to me like you're underestimating yourself. That saying about dumb people being happier is tied to their general self-awareness and not having to overthink things, but you're clearly self-aware, meaning you're not that stupid.
Consider that your inadequacies may be tied more to insecurity than inability.
I am drunk so my ability to properly relay my thoughts is already garbage. I didn;t say everything I wanted to say. I think I have ADHD or something similar because everything I do is very short term. I can;t plan ahead or commit to things. I did terribly in highschool. It killed my desire to get good grades. I have watched my peers get phds. It hurts but it shouldn't. I can't believe I was born as I am. It's so fricked. Thanks for the kind words.
what
said, i know the NPC meme is cliche, pretentious, but it's been around for a while before it became an internet meme. it's made fun of but on the whole at least half of all people are sub 100 IQ. the typical 90-something IQ person has brain damage, and every sub 105 IQ person I've known to be that come across to me as mentally moronic, having no opinions of their own, as emptyheaded and vapid as people here say all women are - this is anecdotal, in all honesty, but you get my point. if you have enough self awareness to... be self aware and comment on it, you're ahead of at least 60 percent of people right there.
and really i feel like a stupid fricking moron Black person even though i've been actually tested and got 130. i have 0 emotional and social intelligence though
>at least half of all people are sub 100 IQ
lol moron
>the typical 90-something IQ person has brain damage, and every sub 105 IQ person I've known to be that come across to me as mentally moronic
Nice of everyone in your life to run around with their tested IQ written on their forehead
You need to relax anon. IQ is largely determined by genetics so you are stuck with whatever IQ you have. That doesn't mean you can't become wise through study and patience throughout your life.
>moronic opinion
>Homelander avatar
What a shock.
>film class
>nostalgia
it´s not like they ave seen the movie
He's right about vertigo
I like capeshit and old movies, particularly jimmy cagney and cary grant films
pic semi-related, enjoy some jeannie
Vertigo was revolutionary at the time due to the ending, the background of each scene is incredibly animated so the world really feels alive and lived in. However, I personally didn't like it and did find the plot a bit silly. However, I understand why it's so highly praised.
>nostalgia is a mf
>his avatar is an edit of some 90s cartoon
based twitter homosexuals
Modern filmmaking in america is so low tier in terms of craft, imagination and even humanity that it has raised an entire generation of people to behave like those lobotomized chickens being fed from a tube
Vertig is actually shit tho
>watch Cleo From 5 to 7 in film class
>have to do a group presentation on it
>literally had to all of ot myself because none of the other group members were capable of understanding it at all
I wasn't even wanting to be a tryhard. I tried to take a backseat but after enough people said "dude I don't know nothing happened man" I had to take matters into my own hands and do it all.
Any good black and white movie from the 60s or before that is accessible to my 21st century brain?
I like Psycho and It's a wonderful life.
Anything Kurosawa, go watch Yojimbo.
The Maltese Falcon is kino.
A lot of the swashbuckler movies from the B&W era are kino. Like Captain Blood and Mark of Zorro for example.
This remains the best swordfight ever put on film, even though more than 80 years have passed, nothing has come close: https://youtube.com/watch?v=nB8tiSMCwRE
Godzilla
this but make sure it's the original japanese one and not the american rerelease
so many people have no clue that the original one is actually a legit movie and think it's only a silly 50s monster b-movie.
The American cut isn't terrible, but the worst part of it is that it spoils the ending of the movie by moving the destroyed Tokyo panning shot to the very beginning. I guess pretty much everyone more or less knows what the plot of Godzilla is now though anyway.
Fun fact: The Japanese version of Godzilla 1954 is one of the only three Godzilla movies that shows booba (topless granny on one of the island scenes kek). It's one of those "if you blink, you'll miss it" things. The other two are a brief shot of a pinup/nudie magazine in Godzilla vs Megalon, and the prosthetic android boobs in Terror of Mechagodzilla.

what no pussy does to a mf
The "story plot" of Vertigo is dumb though. Critics were right about it at the time, modern brainlets reassessed it at his greatest film.
Is vertigo really like this? I haven't tackled Hitchcok yet.
>tfw 36
>never got into lucas films
>never got into big budget pg-13 blockbusters
>star shit, cape shit, potter shit - don't understand the appeal
>can't figure out if pop culture left me behind or if i was never part of it
>pretentious film students say my taste is gutter trash
>capeshit celebrating homosexuals say my taste is boring and old fashioned
Pretentious film students and capeshit söyboys are two sides of the same coin: People with no deeper understanding about the craft of filmmaking, who simply mistake what they like for what is good.
no, they just revealed the way it always was
90-95% of people are unintelligent, one could argue to a certain extent barely even conscious beings, this isn't new, always been the case.
It's scary af to meet actual NPCs
>film class
lurk on Cinemaphile for a year and you will come out knowing more about film and tv than any film student.
>lurk on Cinemaphile for a year and you will come out knowing more about mommies and waifus than any film student.
ftfy
whats the difference
Turno israelite !
Considering I spent my Sunday in bed reading and going through youtube.com videos, I'm not going to act pretentious and holier than thou.
My roommate who shouts and hollers to hockey games and stay up-to-date on all the Marvel shows may as well be more of a human being than me.
And that's true for most of Cinemaphile. NEETs and such are less of human beings than the wagie you deride as an automaton NPC.
depends on what values you hold in higher esteem
Your values are coasting around capeshit. "not watching" but seething and cumming over it's existence
Literally cuck behavior
marvel shows are cringe but shouting and hollering at hockey games is based
If you think that movies define your IQ
Then I’m sorry OP, you are a lost cause
My college educated midwit friend said the same thing as bottom guy about The Shining.
>OP discovers that zoomers are moronic
Am I the only one who was actually alive during the 90s and 2000s. No one talked about film like they do together. One of the most discussed films in High School was fricking Scary Movie and Napoleon Dynamite. People almost NEVER talked about directors much less writers and cinematographers.
Movie IQ got higher, not lower, even for capeshit consoomers.
few people still actually discuss technical aspects of a movie. most people just parrot some youtuber opinion or nitpick irrelevant details. at least midwits limited themselves at saying they liked or not the movie, now they act like they know shit
Yep, most of my friends who have never seen a Letterboxd or Youtube film essay in their life have extremely varied movie tastes instead of just all Lynch or all Lars von Trier. One of my friends favorite movies is My Cousin Vinny, There Will Be Blood, Take Shelter, and Captain America 2. People in real life just watch movies and enjoy them, this media culture war doesn't exist outside of Twitter.
They should meet this guy
kek half expected that guy's response to end with "you're frickin dead, kiddo".
That guy got ripped to shreds so hard he started talking about how he was going to kill himself and it was everyone else's fault for making fun of him.
He's just the ultimate dork lol. His last three tweets.
Holy shit
People on twitter are fricking weird man
wait, why does having death threats made against him make him want to fly to his orbiting girl and sit on her front porch?
>Kurosawa, Kubrick, Tarantino, Scorsese - the list goes on!
Not to defend those morons but Vertigo it is overrated
As a recovering zoomer, I have to admit that I had to essentially "train my brain" to enjoy and appreciate older films. I still get this uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my stomach when I watch black and white films, like there's something better I could be doing with my time, but I keep at it. It really is just being ADD and ADHD addled that's the issue, most people can't do anything that's remotely outside their comfort zone, and the comfort zone they've been trained into for the last 20 years is CGI capeshit. Deep down, I think that very few young people actually WANT to be this way, they all want to broaden their horizons and experience stuff that's older and a tad more sophisticated. But they're hampered down by what's become an Instinct of sorts that guides them back towards modernity whenever they stray too far from the fold. It isn't really instinct, of course, it's an entirely artificial notion. But it's just as real as if it were an instinct.
to be fair it's not really just a zoomer issue. I'm a millennial and grew up watching older movies because I was raised on westerns and universal monsters, and all my friends around me as a kid thought I was crazy for actually enjoying watching old black and white movies. some of my friends have kids who still love the old shit, it's the same as it ever was, a lot of people only like what's contemporary for them, some people can watch anything.
man you guys all had the big classics shown for your film class hitchwiener movies. we watched strangers on a train (still a good and entertaining movie, just not one of his most prolific ones).
Honestly, I can relate.
For the better part of a decade, I exposed myself to classic & critically acclaimed films. Started with Casablanca when I was 18, from then on, I watched Scarface, Citizen Kane, 2001, Pulp Fiction, Saving Private Ryan, Blues Brothers, basically every film that I only knew from pop culture references. After finishing Apocalypse Now at age 27 & hating it, I gave up.
I loved or liked some of them, but most of these movies, I was bored watching them, loathed or didn't care about the characters, etc. Honestly, I just wasn't having fun watching these films, nor did I understand why people held them to such a high pedestal. No, I never went to film school, so I couldn't appreciate things only film nerds would notice, but as someone who tries his best to enjoy movies in general, I couldn't get into them.
I should mention, for reference, that I am 31 years old. Before I get accusations of being a "zoomer."
