It's hilarious because this show is so fricking comfy for people who never read the books and aren't perpetually triggered by the existence of minorities
Having blacks in positions of power in a super advanced sci-fi setting destroys your suspension of disbelief. Everyone normals inherently understands this. 99.9% of full Blacks in high positions can only get to where they are through Affirmative action, they come into work whenever they feel like it and when they are at work they gossip and waste time. They cause massive inefficiencies to any organization they are a part of.
I am not sure I have ever seen a more uncomfortable and less alienated group of humans. Truly a product of Apple corporate. That's the Psychohistory™ - This could have been taken at Apple in 1990.
>'member psychohistory? That amazing invention/idea by the late great Harry Seldon, the man, the myth, the legend? It only worked/had value thanks to an amazing brown girlboss! YASSSS QUEEEN SLAAAYYY SHOW WHITEY HOW IT'S DONE!!!!!

>It's hilarious because this show is so fricking comfy for people who never read the books and aren't perpetually triggered by the existence of minorities
I have never read the books and the existence of minorities doesn't trouble me in the slightest, Tuvok was one of my favorite star trek characters. Please get fricked and die.
>Insaneway was not bad too, in my headcanon she's half-crazed for being stranded in the Delta Quadrant.
Quite liked her too, hell prefer her over Picard tbqhwy but that might be because Voyager is my favorite Trek. Weird to think Mulgrew and Ryan didn't get along irl. She was good in Orange is the New Black too but that show got very bad in the later seasons.
>Weird to think Mulgrew and Ryan didn't get along irl.
You should know the story about the infamous Starfleet bras being offered to Mulgrew and she telling the show producers.
https://screenrant.com/star-trek-hidden-details-voyager-costumes/ >Marina Sirtis, the actress that played Deanna Troi, the Enterprise ship's counselor on Star Trek: The Next Generation, often stated how excited she was when she received her own Starfleet. The bodysuit she'd worn for much of the series had a low neckline, and forced her to wear a padded bra to emphasize her decolletage. >Producers on Voyager wanted to replicate the success of that particular "upgrade" in the garments of its female stars. Roxann Dawson and Jeri Ryan therefore wore the "industrial strength Starfleet regulation bra", which added inches to their bust. It's said Kate Mulgrew refused to wear one.
So the producers hire this eyecandy actress (who wore said bras too). I've seen some shit at work, and I can tell you there's nothing a woman hates most than competition.
It might be just the Star Trek curse though, think of Shatner and Nimoy.
>this season.
Season 2 finished months ago? I dunno, I thought season 2 was much better season 1 since Salvor's plotline was entwined with Gale's.
>It's hilarious because this show is so fricking comfy for people who never read the books and aren't perpetually triggered by the existence of minorities

>triggered hard
Imagine seething like this because there's a show you don't like
hard
By false accusations of racism/xenophobia? Yeah, it has gotten very annoying.
How many roving gangs of thugs do you know of that are led by strong womxn? I know of not a single one yet that is exactly the type of BS that this show portrays.
I've read the books; the series compared to them is a steaming pile of shit. As a standalone, it's mediocre - perfect for you, and I'm glad you like it.
[...] >kind of racist when you think about it
Extremely racist in fact, though progressives lack the self-awareness to understand why.
[...]
Is season 2 that bad? I haven't watched it; it was enough of a chore sitting through season 1.
>Is season 2 that bad? I haven't watched it; it was enough of a chore sitting through season 1.
it is far worse than season 1, almost without exception any (straight) male character will be entirely useless (be it drunk or old and weak) in need of guidance, leadership and/or rescue by strong brown women of limitless potential, it is so overdone that it could pass for satire.
Ironically, the Empire plot is completely original to the show. All the book stuff has been so drastically transformed that it's basically unrecognizable

why are all the black women in this series magical Black folks? kind of racist when you think about it.

Never read the books but the empire plotline had me interested in the first season. Not a fan of what's happening this season.
Is season 2 that bad? I haven't watched it; it was enough of a chore sitting through season 1.
>Is season 2 that bad?
The only reason I continued on to season 2 was for the empire plot line and it sucks so far. I'm on episode 8. I really doubt it's going to get much better in like 3 episodes.
Moments of season 2 got okay but then the big arc finales were all dogshit. Even the raid on empire because so much about it is unexplained and also driven by a cringe love story that goes nowhere and is pansexual.
But the terminus “twist” is the worst dogshit I’ve ever seen in my life. Even worse that season 1s they way they use the vault is behind criminal it’s vomit inducing
imho season 2 is less bad than S1 mainly because they merged two annoying black woman into one plotline and thus reducing their screentime
Book series that span hundreds of years are really hard to turn in to a tv series.
The viewer wants to see the same characters, but going "yeah everybody from last season is dead for hundred of years now" doesnt sit well with the viewer.
Foundation, similarions, dune, etc.. all books that make for shit tv shows.
they should just do low budget antology with people talking in the rooms something akin to i,claudius
I've read the books and I'm not racist, the show is just extremely boring despite the high production value. I'd rather they had turned every single character into a minority and more closely followed the books instead of making up this thing.
The empire storyline carried the show but got worse in season 2 with the introduction of the moronic black b***h. Everything else was objectively horrible from the start.
It filters the shit like pol, so something more important can be discussed.
I mean...when those chimps are hooting and digging in their asses in public, you can't quite let them in the opera theater with the civilized humans.
Which is why anime exists.
You have to dumb it way down for their lack of frontal lobes. Kind of like a crow...you throw quarters on the sidewalk, and they will ape out and go chase the shiny objects.

>they added random black/women main characters for no reason at all
Oh, they had reasons. Just not good, or honest, or interesting, or rational reasons, unfortunately.
The problem is, there are attractive half white&black people out there, but why do they always pick the most ugly ones out there who have no acting skills.
attractive ones are extremely rare and they'll never get cast because making something beautiful is not their intention. If it was, everyone would be white in the first place.

After the second season, its up to the creators to provide funding. Goyi...sorry, Goyer is a cheap bastard and a frickwad. At least we got a semi accurate Trantor.
It ruined it more than anything else, but the got the scale right. Iirc, its about the size of Ganymede. But frick the pew pew shit and frick the abomination that they did to the Invictus. It looks like this...
Gold? The books are ok but it's a terrible formula for tv. Nothing actually happens it's 95% characters talking to each other and you need an entire new set of characters every couple of hours.
Almost every character in the book is highly intellectual there aren't any normal people in it so it's extremely jarring when these thoughtful, highly capable people get replaced with Black folk and women.
What happened? S3 cancelled or something?
Season 2 happened.
Yeah the "le quirky israeli rogue and his fat brown love interest" story arc was cringe as frick. But otherwise pretty good overall still imo.
>his fat brown love interest
I've seen worse.

you have to go back
lol. to where, Black person?
africa
Top fricking kek, is that salvor or leslie jones? Queen Sareth actually looking pretty good.
I am not sure I have ever seen a more uncomfortable and less alienated group of humans. Truly a product of Apple corporate. That's the Psychohistory™ - This could have been taken at Apple in 1990.
Season 2 was good
Season 3 is confirmed, and Season 2 was well received, Lee Pace carried the show through
I hate the main b***hes accent so much.
Dropped it when they made everyone a black woman for some reason
>'member psychohistory? That amazing invention/idea by the late great Harry Seldon, the man, the myth, the legend? It only worked/had value thanks to an amazing brown girlboss! YASSSS QUEEEN SLAAAYYY SHOW WHITEY HOW IT'S DONE!!!!!
This. The show has frick all to do with the books. It's an insult to Asimov's writing. And they just used it as a vehicle for a shitty Empire story.
It's so sad, production value is amazing, some of the cast are great, it's strictly writing and dei that ruin immersion.
It's hilarious because this show is so fricking comfy for people who never read the books and aren't perpetually triggered by the existence of minorities

So the genetic dynasty isn't a thing in the books? Well whoever thought of that should've made an entire show around that premise.
The empire thing gets very cringe after he gets back from the cringe salt planet
I've read the books; the series compared to them is a steaming pile of shit. As a standalone, it's mediocre - perfect for you, and I'm glad you like it.

Literally everyone outside of Cinemaphile thinks that it's much better than season 1. You figure it out
imho season 2 is less bad than S1 mainly because they merged two annoying black woman into one plotline and thus reducing their screentime
they should just do low budget antology with people talking in the rooms something akin to i,claudius

lel, take your stupidity elsewhere, please
Unfortunately for the humans on this planet, you brown hominids are not a minority

The one new girlboss character I actually liked/wasn't extremely forced.
It filters the shit like pol, so something more important can be discussed.

try not to dig your nose in there too far sniffing your own farts.
why are all the black women in this series magical Black folks? kind of racist when you think about it.
this is the best acting i have ever seen in my life
unironically
Empire is based and Hari Seldon exists to fix the problems of brown women with nice thighs
Day is pretty based tbh senpai
the only based Day was the first one we see in episode 1
I liked the one who got boxed out the airlock by the gay psychopath even if he was a moron

Silo was alright.
sure, but i havent read those books so i dont know how hard they fricked up the lore in that one.
Although to be fair they added random black/women main characters for no reason at all.
>they added random black/women main characters for no reason at all
Oh, they had reasons. Just not good, or honest, or interesting, or rational reasons, unfortunately.
No it's fricking easy. You just have to do a timeskip.
>dude just hire an entire new set of actors each season
It works for high-iq people, low iq people don’t understand it
>2 seasons later
>i'm supposed to care about this gaal and raych love plot that came and went in half an episode
lol
the thing that always makes me laugh about diversity quotas is that they always pick mixed black people and never real africans
US blacks and black Africans generally don't like each other.
us blacks started it
So what? Apart from the blacks, who cares?
>these black b***hes are fricking up my plan at every fricking opportunity, i'm getting the frick up outta here
i literally struggle to watch anything with brown women in it
The problem is, there are attractive half white&black people out there, but why do they always pick the most ugly ones out there who have no acting skills.
attractive ones are extremely rare and they'll never get cast because making something beautiful is not their intention. If it was, everyone would be white in the first place.
if your selling someone a shit sandwich you can't feed them one with a slice of turkey on top first. they'll want turkey after that, not shit.
>who have no acting skills.
The Salvor actress is especially terrible at delivering scifi babble. Gaal's is alright.
waaaaaaaaay too many black people
why did Day turn into a onions boy in season 2
i will be live blogging the rest of season 2
i can not believe they brought hari back just to kill him again
the negress moves on fast
>stop depending on empire for your drugs, depend on us instead!!!!
bravo, writers
Love me some Lee Pace
Black women ruined the show. S2 was awful.
>this thread
After the second season, its up to the creators to provide funding. Goyi...sorry, Goyer is a cheap bastard and a frickwad. At least we got a semi accurate Trantor.
I don't recall trantor having rings in the book.

i am on episode 9 now, it has actually gotten much better
>blew up terminus
>killed off one of the magical Blacks
Season 2 wasn't so bad after all
I GOT TRICKED
TERMINUS IS STILL THERE
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Loved the original trilogy. This goes in the trash with the sequel duology.
