Grievous mogs him completely
Came here to say this. George and Filoni literally retconned Grievous cause George was butthurt that Grievous made Vader look like a choirboy.
If only George had the brilliant idea to actually have Vader do something to show his power besides kill a roomful of kids
>George and Filoni
"and Filoni" hahahahahahaha
Filoni is absolutely part of the reason Star Wars is as shitty as it is now.
*gets force crushed into a tin can*
dude is a punching bag for literally half the heroes of the clone wars. Tartakovsky GG is the only iteration that isn’t a meme character
What if Tartakovsky directed the Prequels?
he hasn't been menacing since the prequels exposed him for just being a whiny moron who basically got tricked into turning evil
>Anti-prequel Disney homosexual
YWNBAW
>if you don't like the prequels you must like disney
they're both shit you moron
The prequels are shit in kind of the same way Lawnmower Man is shit. Someone who unironically likes those is way less of a homosexual than someone who unironically likes the sequels.
I don't care. Someone who drinks vomit may be better than someone who eats shit but at the end of the day they're both terrible.
And yet movies are nothing like drinking vomit or shit. We're not like you, anon. We don't have to make those decisions so stop relating your real daily activities to movie watching.
Sequeltrannies and OTBlack folk are overwhelmingly the same people
OTniggs consume nostalgia pandering , buy yidsney products and vehemently hate george lucas
If you were just “meh” about starwars you wouldn’t be posting
And this type of guy might claim “both are shit”, but prequels are intolerably bad, while they still watch Mandalorian, watched every sequel, still watch the new abortion obiwan etc etc
The Samurai Jack Clone Wars and Republic Commando were the only good things about the Prequels
I think both are intolerably bad. If you put a gun to my head and made me choose I'd say the sequels are worse but that doesn't make the prequels good.
> I'd say the sequels are worse but that doesn't make the prequels good
The prequels arent good good like as film but i find them really interesting from a creative angle. Its like actually seeing what your brain pictures when you read an old asimov novel. The weird sterile unreality of it is pure space opera autism. This is definitely the only time a person that crazy will have that much creative control.
This honestly. Vader lost his appeal once we went past the earl jones persona and explored his character. Villains often operate best when yiu dont need to go turbo autism with a backstory. Its reason why villans like Joker or Freiza are iconic cause they're evil for the sake of evil, no homosexual backstory about how they lost it all, no whiny "I need revenge, but now im dark" bullshit. Just evil.
It's what makes him interesting. Otherwise he would've been yet another bad guy in a suit that the hero has to take down. Him being revealed as Luke's father was actually pretty novel at the time.
You can craft a interesting villain without going far into their history. Him being Luke's father was already the draw. You had this absolute force being father to the main character and it was groundbreaking. An info drop so powerful that it probably rivaled the anti spoil movement for Endgame.
But part of the reason he's so powerful is because of what happened to him. He's essentially barely alive, three of his four limbs are robotic, his entire body has been significantly burned, and can't speak without a computer. Basically everyday he lives is torture both psychologically and physically. All that pain is fuel for the dark side of the force and is what helps makes vader so powerful.
>three of his four limbs are robotic
All of his limbs are robotic.
All evil characters are silly and stupid, if you think about it.
He's dick probably got burned off to.
It's literally a burnt amputee in a box who still has no issue ruling over the galaxy and killing countless people and Jedi in the process.
The intimidating factor is that he shouldn't even be alive, let alone have this much power.
Obi Wan fricked up by not making sure he died. If I were him and knew what Anakin had become, I'd want to kms.
I would not fear a crippled and burned Hitler simply because he's still alive. I would fear his empire, but him alone? No. Hell I would fear creamy sheev over Vader cause that frick is just off the rails.
He could choke you in 2 seconds from halfway across the planet. I'd much rather take on a real person with no such abilities.
Yes but im sure most people who are force sensitive can do that. What's the difference between vader doing it and a random storm trooper with force abilities.
Anon, some 5 year old girl with force abilities would be intimidating on its own.
Thats what im saying. Vader isnt scary if he has force powers in a world where force exists. That's like saying I should fear a gun owner when I myself can own them as well.
People's actions and demeanor make them intimidating.
A Jedi could be formidable but you know they avoid killing and are generally reasonable. Whereas Vader just kills people including children whenever he pleases.
It's never been about the gun but about the person pulling the trigger.
Fair enough.
Yeah bro but hitler couldn't snap your neck with his mind
name 1 (one) menacing villain in movie history
you literally can't
>some dude in a suit
just bazooka his ass
done
>implying he can't just ninja dodge that shit
7/10 troll
dennis hopper in blue velvet
>just some dude with asthma
bazooka him and you're done
50 bazookas and he's done
Honestly Exorcist 3>Exorcist, the villain is far more terrifying here.
Thrax from Osmosis Jones
That movie had no reason to be as kino as it was.
People used to have passion into making something not just as good as it can potentially be, but fun.
Watching Obi-Wan, I realized there is literally nothing he could do if you just ran away from him. Fricker can’t even jog thanks to his metal legs.
If Vader wants to kill you there is no amount of running that can save you. Only bad writing.
The force
>Has a 1960s computer on his chest.
The computers used by NASA in the 60's had unlimited power.
>Wears leather pants
He has skinny android legs and needs to hide them, as would you.
t.wienery padawan who thinks his form 6 shitter master will save the jedi order
That's a beautiful evening gown though.
read your autistic description again, that actually makes him sound twice as scary
Vader was a tragic pathetic type guy underneath the intimidating exterior.
This was already introduced as a theme in episode 5, by making him a disfigured guy, and then made overt in ep 6, where he is portrayed as being a pitiful servant who is weak both physically and mentally
Fans got very upset when Hayden Christensen and jake loyd ruined “the mystique” by portraying that depth and complexity of character.
Retroactively starwars was “ruined” by this characterization.
But those fans ignored the movies themselves. They just plugged in to the “badass” star war franchise egregore and consumed endless comic book fan fiction where vader is a cool gestapo nazi movie character where he kills ugly women and sniveling coward men
Kinda stupid, all in all. “Fans” are the worst consumer homosexuals on this planet
>depth and complexity
There was nothing deep or complex about his portrayal in the prequels. It was as hamfisted and simple as it gets, he flat out states his insecurities and motivations several times. People disliked it because it was overly melodramatic and with terrible dialog and it also just made Anakin look like a fricking moron when he couldn't see how transparently he was being manipulated.
anakin was in his late teens/early 20s i think during the clone wars, most of us are pretty moronic in those times, even during "normal" times with "normal" upbringings.
consider that anakin was a slave, was raised by some weird group on some other planet, ended up in a war, tried and failed to save his mom who died in front of him, and was getting manipulated by some evil space wizard the entire time.
him acting like a brat or moody made some sense. a lot of what he did made sense, even if the dialogue was shitty sometimes.
worst post on Cinemaphile atm. I hope you will have a nice day now.
By that post alone i can tell you have no one to talk to, to friend, no close family that cares. You are a frustrated evil little man.
Projection. I’m holding my baby girl right now (she’s sleepy)
>he flat out states his insecurities and motivations several times.
Every character does. Just because he doesn’t brood and look mysterious for 45 episode of Better Call Saul (muh complexity, muh tones of grey).
The strengths, weaknesses of anakin, the troubles of his life, growing up in slavery, becoming initiated, finding glory in war, finding love, being torn between political loyalties and religion, mindless anger and all encompassing compassion- it’s all very well portrayed in these movies.
Anakin is compelling and exciting in these movies.
Your eyes must be faulty, or your brain not working properly, if you cannot appreciate the drama of his character
>it's all very well portrayed in these movies
No it isn't. His romance with Padme is some of the most boring and stale romantic writing put to film. His feelings over being a slave are never really expanded upon or brought up. His "endless compassion" is never brought up I don't know where the frick you even got that from. George clearly wanted it to be like this but he wasn't enough of a talented writer to make it compelling so we got shit like "I don't like sand". Then it all just ends with him being tricked into murdering everyone by an extremely obvious lie.
>Anakin is compelling and exciting in these movies.
Simply saying it doesn't make it true.
meme complaints. Mostly you just want the movie more appealing to your puerile tastes- sort of like sequels.
You had everything there : faux complexity in characters, disney princess romance, marketable characters, no one is racist, no one is genocidal, no one murders children, friends and wife, no one murders Black folk and bugmen.
>YOU JUST LIKE THE SEQUELS
Why is this the only defense you people have when trying to defend the prequels? It's sad at this point. George isn't good at writing characters or dialog, sorry.
>faux complexity in characters, disney princess romance, no one is racist, no one is genocidal, no one murders children, friends and wife, no one murders Black folk and bugmen.
I never complained about any of these things. If anything I'm complaining about the faux complexitiy of the prequel characters and the shitty romance there.
>Projection. I’m holding my baby girl right now (she’s sleepy)
looooooooooooooool right. you fat lonely fool.
The lines were just terrible.
"From MY point of view the Jedi are evil!"
Why not just
"The jedi are evil!"
Ironically the shorter line would provide more depth and character, showing how corrupted he has become.
The entire trilogy is filled with those awkward phrases where someone just flat out states their philosphy or how they feel.
It's weird.
i think people who obsess over how lines are written are brainlet tier. go outside. people deliver stuff in stupid or poorly worded ways every days regardless of context.
>muh realism
Stop posting.
people hate anakin because he wasn't tragic. vader's story was supposed to be tragic but by making anakin a raging, whiny, unlikable butthole from the start they ruined that.
Anakin did literally nothing wrong.
I’m sorry he wasn’t marvel quippy enough for you and had actual weaknesses as a character (when he was 19 years old)
lol
weaknesses should be interesting. making your character a fricking moron so the plot can move forward isn't giving them a deep character flaw it's just bad writing. also what the frick do you even mean, Anakin was quippy
Look at the buckbroken homosexual samegayging you for speaking the truth
That same moronation of the fans is futher exemplified by how many say they prefer the literal cartoon version of Anakin - the hammed up, stereotypical hero that pays shallow lipservice to his darker nature - over the films' portrayal.
Hayden's Anakin is one of the biggest pleb filters ever created.
This is the best Anakin
Agreed.
he looks like he's got something (a dildo probably) lodged far up his ass in that pic
First off, you would wear a diaper too if you had your wole body burnt off. Second, that’s a codpiece.
he’s bretty cool but that Obi Wan scene was so fricking try hard and fan film it made me cringe
I like how every one of you homies forget that the dark side makes force users irrational and whiny(especially those who were like this to begin with)
He's unironically cool as frick a
Vader is intimidating due to the power of the empire. Even before they could, ya know, blow up an entire planet, they still had a huge army that answered to Vader. Everything else about him just adds to it. Plus force powers aren't out in the open a ton. There was never a ton of Jedi, they are almost like a myth to average people along with anything force based.
He was menacing when I saw A New Hope at the cinema. I was seven. Now, not so much.
