Why was this character in the movie? None of his scenes happen and he's not at all like he's supposed to be so why is he there?

How else does Roy get easy access to Tyrell?

        >why is he there?
To get them in to see Tyrell

Oh, yeah, I forgot they added that moronic scene. No room for scenes the story needs because they had to inject shit like that.
        >How else does Roy get easy access to Tyrell
        He doesn't. Why would he?

He has a skin disease or some shit that makes him older then he is moron

        It's radiation poisoning

          >No room for scenes the story needs because they had to inject shit like that.
But shit like that is precisely the kind of scene the story needs, what are you talking about? Roy's entire motivation for coming to Earth is to press Tyrell for the means to extend his life, and he determines that befriending and manipulating J.F. is his most efficient mean to that end. Are you really this much of an autistic bookgay

          >Replicant
I don't know what this means
I have not watched this movie and shit on it for not actually being an adaptation of the book, where Pris and Rachel are identical

that you can't accept the movie is trying to tell a different story?

Semi important human character in the book, used for world building and exposition. Pris same model as the other cick stays with him for a few days until baety chrashes the party

Yeah, I know he's based on the second main character. JR is great and important. But the character in the movie isn't really anything like JR and doesn't seem to have a purpose for existing in the movie.

It's still the same function as the book though. He's used for world building (too sick to be allowed to ascend to the colonies) and to introduce the replicants,
Deckard is hunting them but who are they where are the how do they relate to real humans.
We see a flawed diseased man who thinks he finally get's lucky with a pretty young friend who might make a difference in his existence. She humors him until his use runs out and we finally see what the replicants truly are when beaty enters the scene

It should be the same actress as Rachel because they're the same model. It's why she introduces herself with her name. They don't even have scenes together so why didn't they do it right?

They also dropped the Mercer and android police station sideplots. And you should enjoy the film as its own individual thing. The first draft of the script was practically a 1:1 copy of the book because they needed PKD to approve of it and he's the one who told them to deviate from the source material. Bookgays who think having actors read every line of the book in front of a camera for 12 hours are the real brainlets.

              Yeah, it sucks
              >you should enjoy the film as its own individual thing
But it isn't any good. It's a boring "a robot learns to love" story.
              >doing the story correctly is just reciting the book
This movie doesn't have the actual conflict of the story.
              >he's the one who told them to deviate from the source material
Source on that? I've never heard this

Most sci fi and fantasy writers fall into the trap of writing in superlatives: he was the best warrior with the legendary sword called blabla
Or they spend page upon page on world building and going into the minutiae of backstory.
PKD writes it pretty straight, you drop into the middle of a story with flawed humans in a shit but strange world.
Maybe it's not for everyone but if you like the movies you might wanna give electric sheep a go
