The situation is not that dire, avatar 2 and the mario movie did well, the only ones that have been flopping were the dinsey turds, and I didn't see him around when it came to promoting those. did you not read the "out of his own initiative"? I'm 100% sure they were already on their knees before even asking him the question, that being if he'll come out and publicly endorse the movies. If he had no problem with it that's one thing, but there's always the implication that now they owe him one.

Only going to see one movie a season is a new phenomenon, created by home theaters, shitty movies, and undesirable patrons. People used to go regularly to see a bunch. If you saw one and had a good experience, then you'd go again and see something different.

Theaters need a steady stream of decent movies to survive, they haven't had that since Covid. And if all they show is slop made for kids and manchildren they'll lose a huge market. Besides, those two didn't even do that well here, they were made for global appeal and it shows. Hell, the first Avatar made more domestically and that's not even adjusted for inflation.

That said, Tom Cruise is a great presenter with a supremely confident stage presence. He could be a billion-dollar brand spokesman if he wanted to and some brand wanted to pay him to physically rep the brand.
He really, really loves movies. You think he cares about money? He has all the money in the world and he's still doing crazy stunts and working 24/7
dude he is executive producer for most of his films. Approves a script and hires a director he likes. He literally funds kino himself. Will be a sad day when he moves on and the blue haired dykes and nepotism hires descend to feast upon the industry entirely
