Why’s my seat stuck with traffic light gum on it?
wtf is traffic light gum
>only flicks I've gone out to see in the past 3 years were Tenet, Top Gun and M:I
Kinda surreal honestly. Nolan and Cruise are the only big names left that even try anymore so it makes sense.
I watched that movie two days ago and still barely got the reference
>traffic light gum
are you trying to say
excel white
what sort of riches is he receiving from the top Hollywood execs as payment for being mr. movies? I mean, having to shill every single big movie that comes out isn't something he'd do out of solidarity, right?
He loves the kinoplex, simple as
>mmmm, love that popcorn, I totally BUY
a bag every time I watch a movie and you should too 🙂
>Barbenheimer, I'm seeing both opening weekend! That's the way to do it. This totally isn't a cynical corporate push to get people back into the theatres, this is totally me being passionate and authentic! Please go see these great movies in theatres so I can keep making 8 figures per mov- I mean, we have to save the movie theatre experience?
The frick do you mean, dude?
He's one of the biggest movie stars of the 80s and 90s and still stars in the biggest movies of today
Why wouldn't he want people going to the movies?
>having to shill every single big movie that comes out
isn't he just shilling how own movie?
no, he's been promoting barbie and oppenheimer too
he's now being used as mr. hollywood when it comes to promoting new movies, makes me think they gave him a financial nudge to try saving a dying giant, because I don't see him promoting his film competition out of goodwill
If the 3 biggest movies of the season don't do well in theaters then it's goodbye theaters.
Theaters are the only way for big budget flicks to make their money back.
He personally needs the industry as a whole to do well for him to continue to make his big budget flicks.
He has self-interest in this and doesn't need others to convince him to do it.
The situation is not that dire, avatar 2 and the mario movie did well, the only ones that have been flopping were the dinsey turds, and I didn't see him around when it came to promoting those. I'm sure they're compensating him for his recent endorsment, he's not doing it because he wants to save the industry, he's well aware that the good blockbusters do well. This has execs shitting themselves written all over it.
>the only ones that have been flopping were the dinsey turds, and I didn't see him around when it came to promoting those
coincidence?
yes, because avatar 2 outdid top gun and anything since and no Tom in sight.
>avatar 2 outdid top gun
and it only needed a decade and a way bigger budget to do so.
bigger budget means nothing when you're above a certain threshold, the new MI has a bigger budget than avatar and won't make nearly as much as it will, even with Tom in hyper shill mode, and MI is a much more recognizable IP than fricking avatar
he may be acting like mr. nice guy and trying to help the industry, but there's no way that he, out of his own initiative, decided to shill barbie and jap bomber 3000 without it having been suggested by the higher ups, and that always implies good things coming his way. there's no such thing as solidarity in hollywood
>but there's no way
There is a way, i just posted one.
You don't need others to fail for you to succeed, if anything others' success would help generate more success for him as I explained earlier.
>There is a way, i just posted one.
did you not read the "out of his own initiative"? I'm 100% sure they were already on their knees before even asking him the question, that being if he'll come out and publicly endorse the movies. If he had no problem with it that's one thing, but there's always the implication that now they owe him one.
yes his own initiative.
it's good for him personally if people are excited about going to the movies in general, now and in the future.
it's good for him personally if he comes across as someone who isn't competitive and money hungry, but just someone who loves cinema and loves when people go to the movies.
he can come to this conclusion on his own, as i just did.
>I didn't see him around when it came to promoting those
Which is a sign that your theory is wrong.
He's just shilling his own movie and then tosses on a "go see other movies too" to 1. be mr nice guy like every celebrity tries to be since it's all just a PR game, and 2. promote a healthy movie industry as a whole.
Only going to see one movie a season is a new phenomenon, created by home theaters, shitty movies, and undesirable patrons. People used to go regularly to see a bunch. If you saw one and had a good experience, then you'd go again and see something different.
What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
>avatar 2 and the mario movie did well
Theaters need a steady stream of decent movies to survive, they haven't had that since Covid. And if all they show is slop made for kids and manchildren they'll lose a huge market. Besides, those two didn't even do that well here, they were made for global appeal and it shows. Hell, the first Avatar made more domestically and that's not even adjusted for inflation.
You completely misunderstand what this is for.
That said, Tom Cruise is a great presenter with a supremely confident stage presence. He could be a billion-dollar brand spokesman if he wanted to and some brand wanted to pay him to physically rep the brand.
He really, really loves movies. You think he cares about money? He has all the money in the world and he's still doing crazy stunts and working 24/7
dude he is executive producer for most of his films. Approves a script and hires a director he likes. He literally funds kino himself. Will be a sad day when he moves on and the blue haired dykes and nepotism hires descend to feast upon the industry entirely
I don't care if you made the film for the big screen or not. When I consoom it via a different medium, I expect it to sound good. Until then, I'll consider your sound mixers incompetent, and your films not worth my time.
yeah nah sorry but my recliner is too comfy and the cinema is inconveniently located outside my house.
>thank you for coming
