how did these guys become irrelevant overnight? both /r/movies and Cinemaphile would literally post every episode and now it's like they don't exist. i fricking totally forgot about them. what did they do wrong?

They stopped talking about new movie releases
y'all watch them for new reviews I usually watch them for best of the worst, god I love b-movies
I'm assuming they are pro-Russia since they didn't comment on the Ukraine war or Prigozhin assassination
Ukraine Black folk not shitting up every single thread with their bullshit challenge
(Difficulty: Impossible)
I'm assuming you are a giant homosexual with a dildo shoved up your ass because of your typing skills.
Is that really Boxxy, now? Eww.
>another rusBlack person larping as an amerimutt
Cinema sucks, ergo they suck
It's time for the rise of chud reviewers
I don't know. I can't even put my finger on what, it just feels like they're running out of steam. I still like their older stuff though. Hell, I can't tell you how many times I've fallen asleep to those videos where Mike just goes through their video collection, reading the titles in Plinkett's voice.
>I don't know. I can't even put my finger on what, it just feels like they're running out of steam. I still like their older stuff though
They had brief, limited touches with actually famous people, thought they might have had a shot, and it went nowhere. Now they realize that they're stuck and the passion is gone. Mike in particular seems to be pretty mindbroken by that existential realization. He seems like he has the biggest ego, always thought of himself as an unrealized genius. Instead he is a fat alcoholic making videos talking about the works of greater men than he.
You just know they produced this hoping that their friendship with Justin Roiland would give them an in to pitch it to Adult Swim.
How embarrassing
Mike paid $78,000 for the character design and animation of the first episode.
i am doubt
do you not see the separation between watching a video as a lullaby and one that's fun and exciting? I also watch plinkett to make my mind slow down and start sleeping. Mike should be a hypnotist not an entertainer
>They stopped talking about new movie releases
did they really? i didn't exactly follow them but if someone posted a video of theirs i would put it on as background noise as i did other shit.
They got burnt out from covering Star Wars and marvel movies so they just watch random streaming slop. They will talk about the occasional block buster but they constantly mention not caring.
Tail end of SA/YTMND/Cinemaphile internet edginess.
The blip.tv Half in the Bag episodes were great. The versions uploaded to YouTube were cut down because less revenue, and it looks like now they've been edited even further ("ORIGINAL UPLOAD DATE:"...3 years earlier).
At some point they just became "YouTubers", no different to the Nerd Crew types they parody. But at least they have proper cameras and lapel mics!
>Tail end of SA/YTMND/Cinemaphile internet edginess.
I fricking miss it bro.
>no different to the Nerd Crew types theyparody
Their most recent videos could hardly be described as trend-chasing
>At some point they just became "YouTubers", no different to the Nerd Crew types they parody. But at least they have proper cameras and lapel mics!
they're of the same breed as moviebob
They've got lazy during COVID. There's nothing more to it.
>stopped going to the movies with rare exceptions (indiana jones, oppenheimer, and ghostbusters are basically it for recent time)
>covid made it easy to stream shit, especially next day releases or waiting 45 days
>because none of them like going to the movies, new releases now go unwatched by them
>skipped the batman which is the beginning of the end
can you blame them for not wanting to watch capeslop and normie fotm meme shit? zoomers literally don't know how much better film was before the rise of capeshit
>normie fotm meme shit
You act like Mike doesn't constantly praise gay Black person netfllix slop.
not funny not edgy anymore. became woke. half of reviews is just mike being butthurt about imdb reviews.
Best of the worst is still fun
after the sucking off of tfa something snapped me out of thinking they knew what they were talking about
For the guys who reviewed/deconstructed Star Wars, the commentary track on The Empire Strikes Back baffled me. They have a whole discussion (largely led by Jay, who's usually the savvier one) about how Darth Vader is trying to KILL Luke in their duel. No he isn't.
In one of the newer videos they also bring up "they both have the surname Skywalker!" like it's a plothole that Vader "didn't know". It says in the title crawl Vader is looking for Skywalker, he tells Imperial officers he's looking for Skywalker, he has a conversation with the Emperor about it, then tells Luke he's his dad.
What did they think the actual plot was? Darth Vader didn't know his previous surname and just hated this Luke fella, then decided to research his family tree en route to Cloud City? wat.
It can be reasoned that he didn't become aware of Luke until after the Battle of Yavin. It's just really weird that Owen and Beru never thought to even attempt to hide Luke's identity.
Yeah that's fair. Random X-Wing pilot, "The Force is strong with this one."
Think it was the Kenobi series review where Jay "points out" that Vader probably knew who Luke was because "his surname is Skywalker". "...oh my god you're right!"
It explains this in on-screen text in the opening SECONDS of Empire, then gradually explains WHY Skywalker is important. Might as well be obsessively tracking Mon Mothma, get a probe droid to Hoth stat.
What the hell did they think the plot was?
Their reputtion was ruiend when they failed to acknowledge the achievement of Matt Reeves' statemen "The Batman" (20412
They seem to run entirely on gimmicks as of late and not the ones people want either. I used to love their HITB intros but they don't even bother with them anymore because they accidentally wrote themselves into a corner once and felt like it was some irredeemable sin. They just need to stop being morons and start watching normal movies again.
>rock/film stars retire
>royalties forever
>retire in a mansion
What's going to be the YouTube equivalent? Patreon subscriptions will drop if you stop making videos. Ad revenue will go down, it's not like getting a cut of sales.
Take a page from the Metokur playbook, and say you've got terminal cancer, disappear, and then come back occasionally to stream and shill your hats when the bank account starts to get drained.
They only watch streaming garbage now and rarely do their Best of the Worst shows anymore. So there's nothing to talk about.
They've inserted a lot of insincere left posturing that usually boils down to
>This stuff made by people who hate us for existing is annoying but the people who don't hate us for existing are worse
There’s always a thread day of when a new video drops, but it’s hard to get a long discussion going when they don’t bother to review anything new in theaters and instead review random streaming slop.
>Boy this movie was terrible, but [obnoxious, industry plant actress] gave a great performance and only chuds on YouTube and imdb would disagree.
They're so afraid of saying the wrong thing.
They haven’t had any interesting guests in a long time and upload way too slow these days, also why do they refuse to review new releases?
Low effort and really bad takes. They're essentially Only Fans girls now. They rake in cash from their Reddit simps with the least amount of work they can pull off.
>They're essentially Only Fans girls now.
Good comparison
Most of their reviews are random streaming garbage. Too much reading rotten tomatoes reviews. Always have to ironically bring up politics now.
Considering you obsessively make multiple threads about them every day, I'd say they're pretty far from irrelevant.
why do you keep making these threads?
are you shatners social media guy or something
Are you zoomies STILL mad about the prequel reviews? Lmao the star wars prequels sucked dick. Sorry brown boy.
The prequels are fair game, but the way they soft-peddled to sequels was downright hypocritical
They haven’t gone anywhere, you guys just became miserable homosexuals who can’t enjoy things
nah, covid broke them and now they're all pants shitting scared to go to the movies
they've become safe and sterile and they're not very entertaining without the edge
This is it for me. I cant finish their videos anymore.
All the go on about is startrek shit, nobody wants to watch that garbage
I watch those..
It's good for keep up with the state of nutrek without having to watch the shows
Irrelevant? They rule Cinemaphile with an iron fist. Your b***h ass just made a thread about them
they washed up, yo
SHIEEEEET
They became the simpsons, they outlived the source of their satire so there is nothing left say.
it's getting to the point where it feels like they're burned out. Mike certainly is. Every one of his reviews is incredibly low effort and all he does is watch terrible streaming movies.
>it's a "mike tries to rewrite a movie during the review and it sounds a x1000 times worse" episode
>it's a "theaters are the worst. The Wisconsin people are so fat and obnoxious" episode without any self awareness
>it's a "Mike starts playing poker on his phone in the middle of a crowded theater" episode
>it's a "Mike hates fat and obnoxious people, so he chooses to watch the movie at home. He can't go 2 hours without eating anything though and gets up to make a during the movie and misses crucial plot details that then b***hes about it during the review" episode
>It's a "people really want us, movie reviewers, to review the new Batman movie. Frick you for expecting that from us!" episode
Film industry has gone to shit so there aren't a lot of big releases and half of the big releases are shit they wouldn't review anyways.
>review basically every Marvel release for 10 years
>ugh we don't want to watch The Batman
it's not even that Batman is a good or bad movie, it's just ridiculous that it was one of the biggest movies released and they couldn't be bothered because the movie was "too long." Meanwhile they did an episode reviewing multiple streaming flicks that all together had about 2 hours more runtime combined.
They shit on white people all the time, it’s weird. Like if it was funny okay but it’s not they go out of their way to do it about once an episode. Weirdos.
The Dahmer review was so cucked.
>How dare white people care more about their own missing family members than random gay black prostitutes!
>went from moderate internet edgelords, to boringlords who tiptoe around everything
>stopped talking about big new movies
>stopped shitting on big new movies
>are old, and depressing to look at
There's really just not much there anymore.
name a good "new movie"
I want them to talk about the bad ones.
Picard broke them. They still had light in their eyes early in Covid but that show beat it all out of them. Only Jay is still ish like his old self - because he never cared about ST that much
non american here do they ever touch euro movies, arthouse shit and what not or they solely talk about american slop movies?
I think they've mentioned Jodorowsky, but I don't think they've ever specifically reviewed a foreign language film
>both /r/movies and Cinemaphile would literally post every episode and now it's like they don't exist
your just not around when it happens
In one of their reviews they constantly bring up a clip of Adam Sandler saying “I’ve never progressed.” And they use it as a diminutive gainer Sandler in a funny bit. But now that describes Mike to a T. They’ve been doing the same thing for more than a decade at this point and have not substantially changed or improved their formula at all. They seem to take no real risks, give themselves no new challenges, and in the trying and failing or succeeding in those challenges they never learn or grow. They’ve stagnated and the world around them has changed. It’s just now finally catching up to them, 2-3 years too late. They should try to make a movie, a real movie again. A non-ironic comedy, or even a serious attempt at an indie drama. That will at the very least give them some kind of challenge or impetus towards their own lives and that will show through in the rest of the work. They’ve become complacent and dead inside as consequence. It doesn’t help that they don’t seem to believe in anything; they know what they’re against but hardly know what they’re for. The only movies Mike seems to like are standard well made blockbusters from 40 years ago. He’s never challenged his own taste to try to appreciate film as a medium for art and still considers it only as popcorn entertainment. Siskel and Ebert would watch the standard fair and review it by the standards of the standard fair but would also review the critical darlings, and even international films that deserved praise and recognition. They refuse to do that and instead just review whatever slop they happened to watch that week that they can turn over into a quick review. Gen X are insufferable for this. They made their entire personality punk rock where nothing could be accepted and appreciated for what it is, and any earnest effort was “gay” and the only smart content was self aware content that was either meta drama or meta ironic comedy. It’s all bullshit.
nicely taked anon
t. nonschizo longpost enjoyer
I wish they’d discuss more new movies. Not capeshit but I don’t get the fascination with all this shoe string budget streaming shovelware.
