Welcome to tertiary-chan, where discord and reddit come with "I really wish this happened to validate that meme I made" and bootlickers play pretend by utter FEAR of being called toxic and hard to work with.
I have never once, in any way, ever, experienced what the hell "representation" is supposed. I have no idea what the frick these people are talking about. What kind of narcissistic jackass only enjoys things if they have a self insert?
well when i was a little kid power ranger spd was still running. i saw the red ranger and said "that's literally me" and larped as a police officer power ranger until i realized that was cringe and went ot something else. i would say he's half the reason i still wear my hair into twists now (besides my mom have dreads)
i guess technically i felt represented, but being true, i just liked seeing the white boy blue ranger seethe that he wasn't the boss kek
Is the dark ass homie in the room with us? That hand is giving brownskinned at best and I bet it’s only because it’s summer time right now.

You guys must be trolling
Im not super dark like an African but I'm definitely no yellowbone or redbone like Zendaya or childish gambino. I would say I'm as dark as Kanye. Definitely way darker than what you guys are suggesting and I don't feel like a light skinned among other black people

Because you’re not, you like… the average skintone for someone thats not as black as coal.
>white screecher who sees his kind everywhere lies that he has never experienced a feeling science understands is naturally present in all normal humans >still has a tantrum when minorities exist while screaming how unbothered he is
wow i can't believe it
Transformers, Ghostbusters, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Thundercats, Robocop, Arnold Schwarzenegger movies, TMNT, Superman, etc do not represent me. I don't see myself as Han Solo. I know how to disassociate from myself to enjoy a piece of media where the characters don't look like me, otherwise I wouldn't be able to watch black movies or foreign cinema.
If minorities wanted representation so much, they wouldn’t be that fond of anime. Representation is good, but it shouldn’t be a top priority when you create media
Blacks are dumb if they see Piccolo as black, but that is not the point.
Its a matter of EVOLUTION.
LEGO once commissioned a study on gender differences in play when they were developing the girl-focused Lego Freinds line and one of its main conclusions boiled down to this: Boys want to be Batman. Girls want Batman to be them.
That’s why when you develop a girl’s property you need to have either one kinda bland, boilerplate protagonist that can be imprinted upon or a wildly diverse ensemble of protags that covers the entire gamut of personalities so they can pick one and be like “that’s so me!”
Mental illness wrapped in self-inserting narcissism with a good dose of stereotyping. It's basically people admitting their inhumanity and incapability of empathizing with anything that doesn't share their useless traits about them. It's not something that should be encouraged, especially in any fictional work
>white screecher who sees his kind everywhere lies that he has never experienced a feeling science understands is naturally present in all normal humans >still has a tantrum when minorities exist while screaming how unbothered he is
wow i can't believe it
Cope. You're a failure of a human if you can't engage with fiction just because the doesn't look like you. You're a narcissist. I didn't "relate" to a character more just because they happened to be black, that is nonsense.
Basically this: >I want to see people like me in media >thus people like you in media have to be changed into people like me >But I also want to see people like me in media >You're a Nazi
When you're little, it's fun that something on TV looks like you, but I don't know how life-changing it is. Obviously, there are billions of people on the planet so blanket statements are dumb, but it does feel like we put too much value on the appearance of representation instead of the personality or experience.
When I was little, I looked just like the girl in Matilda. My mother even decided I should dress up like her for Halloween. It was kind of fun that I looked like a famous celebrity, but I didn't relate to Matilda in anyway. It was a cute movie, but something like Tim Taylor in Home Improvement actually stuck with me as a child because he had a ton of mannerisms that I related to. A big one was constantly making jokes at inappropriate times and even getting called out for it. Home Improvement's only gotten better to me as I've gotten older and even more habits I have are similar to the characters in that show.
I think all of us have a story where we physically look like a character on TV, but that doesn't mean that character connected with us as a child. It was just fun attention you got have as a little kid with people going, "You look just like Belle!" or something.
>When I was little, I looked just like the girl in Matilda. My mother even decided I should dress up like her for Halloween.
This is the part where you reveal that you're a dude, which will explain so much about this board.
You're on a board where shipping shows like Hazbin/Helluva and Owl House get the most attention. You're living in denial if you don't think this board is at least 50% women.
>You're living in denial if you don't think this board is at least 50% women.
I want to believe that but this board seethes way too hard over lesbians. Straight women just don't care that much about lesbians. I think it's mostly male gays, which makes sense because only gay men would get mad at seeing 2 attractive women sexing eachother
>sexing eachother
I don't think I've seen a single one of these cartoons have lesbians sexing each other besides Harley Quinn, and they somehow managed to make it lame there too.
Maybe if white people lesbians were more along the lines of Valkyrie Drive and less this lame boring shit with no nipples and no fricking people would like them more.
as a gay I don’t get mad at lesbians, I’m just sick and tired of 99% of Cinemaphile discussion centering around whether they want to frick a character or not.
I'm honestly sick of this recent trend of people having low self esteem to the point they need fictional characters to live vicariously through. It is not limited to any one race. Escapism is a cancer. It's unhealthy can't you all see that?
You damn well better go back to that wheelchair you little homosexual.
But seriously these days people, ADULTS, self insert to the point they throw tantrums over characters not being bland blankslates. It's boring. Especially with female characters where variety is all but dead.
You can't

Where did OP claim to be a socialist
Huh, the IRL version looks better, that's rare.
That's not the artist posting a selfie, you idiot.
A skinny white guy is a self inserting as a fat black woman?
Do you see how moronic you sound
I mean, to be fair.
Have you seen modern internet?
>Smartest OP on Cinemaphile
it looks even worse in the movie.
>Discord screenshot thread
have we truly gone even lower?

you didn't label it, but saying you didn't is a lie.
I saw myself in Peter Parker and Anakin for personality reasons rather than race reasons for example.
Transformers, Ghostbusters, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Thundercats, Robocop, Arnold Schwarzenegger movies, TMNT, Superman, etc do not represent me. I don't see myself as Han Solo. Blacks/Mexicans literally believe that Piccolo/Goku represents them.
Blacks are dumb if they see Piccolo as black, but that is not the point.

Did that creepy writer get any comeuppance for making his adult self insert a love interest of a literal child in Powerpuff girls?
He was interviewed on youtube a few months ago and him and the interviewers laughed about it to own the haters
Someone should have a collage of all self intetests
>Self

My God you people can't even read

Crap I should have just ctrl+s'd.
Mai homie.
How can we stop the /misc/ menace? This is just lying to get other people mad.
They are on par with sjw at this point.
Dey wear da poo poo.
Cosplayer looks better than actual character. Is it too much to ask that minority characters aren’t viciously ugly?
It's a viciously ugly movie
The difference is Luz is the self insert is her college frickbuddy while blossom is blossom
Luz is her original the character, while Blossom was created for another guy
