Cruise has the most consistent filmography of any movie star ever
Of course, some actors have been in better movies, but they've also been in way worse ones than Cruise
You can start at movie 1 of Cruise and go to his most recent and you will have a much more consistent experience than any other actor

It's not just that they're real. It's that they're well thought out, interesting, fun, and most importantly, they're incredibly well edited rather than the gimmicky, lazy, repetitive, unimaginative, single-take "please basedface" shit you see on the John Wick films.

    >2 hours and 43 minutes

why are tentpole entertainment films like Mission Impossible, John Wick and capeshit doing this?
Films need to earn this length, none of these blockbusters ever do.

Yeah why isn't it 30 seconds long, split-screen with Temple Run gameplay footage and with a sped-up Ice Spice song overlaid?.

I don't mind a good long movie and given how much I've enjoyed the last couple M:I's I'm sure I'm gonna have a good time at this one, but movies that never would've been this long in the past have been trending upwards in runtime over the past several years. Guardians 2 was 2:30h, Wakanda, John Wick 4 and the last Bond were all around the 2h45 range, The Batman was a whole 3 hours. I just think a movie's gotta be exceptionally good in order to justify running over 2 and a half hours, let alone approaching 3, and most of them just don't feel grandiose enough to warrant it. 2 hours and 10 is the perfect length for this sort of movie, that's what Top Gun Maverick clocked in at and no one complained it was too long or too short last year.

        Anonymous

I love Heat - nearly 3 hours long
Goodfellas is one of my favourite films - 2 and a half hours long
Apocalypse Now is my favourite film of all time -the theatrical cut is 2 and a half hours long

my point was that these films earn their length, they are are more than Simon Pegg shouting inane bullshit whilst Tom Cruise does some cool stunts.
Some of these films earn their length with substance, others are meaningless popcorn flicks. Meaningless popcorn flicks should not be that long.

Nobody is going to give this a negative review. Cruise has his whole “save movie theaters” shtick going, so of course critics who want to keep getting free shit and getting invited to free early screening are going to review it positively. If you go against cruise, you are going against theaters in their view.

It’s very similar to during lockdowns, every movie that went direct to streaming was review bombed by homosexual reviewers who were mad it wasn’t in theaters.
