They went too far in a few places with Shrek 2 : the toxic dialogue in the marital arguments, the horrible personality of Fairy Godmother, too many pop culture references and background visual gags (Chasitity Belt poster, anyone?), the third act involving a lust filled love potion, some adult jokes bordering on tasteless, the party ending at midnight, etc.
It's a shame how their first animated film still has some of the absolute best dialogue out of their whole lineup. This is a really good script, although a child would obviously not appreciate it (with lines such as "nothing like a little post-traumatic stress disorder to make your day complete" or "i was gonna let you become part of my most erotic fantasies")
I remember therapy, going to a bar, going to war, hanging with a drunk and depressed wasp, and flooding the entire colony.
I appreciated it and possibly liked it more than A Bug's Life despite being the more child friendly of the two.

Both Movies are very underrated in the grand scheme of things
Their comedian driven stuff was pretty good. Bee movie was bad due to it being a complete disaster in preproduction, they had to drop the old concept entirely and then cobble some shit together really fast and Bee movie was what we got.
>Shrek >Spirit : Stallion of the Cimarron >Shark Tale >Kung Fu Panda >How to Train Your Dragon >The Croods >The Boss Baby
Their only non sequel films to be nominated for Best Animated Feature by the academy. Only Shrek won.
>Bee Movie >Kung Fu Panda >How to Train Your Dragon >Rise of the Guardians >The Croods >The Boss Baby
and these are their only non sequel films to be nominated for Best Animated Feature at the golden globes, with that nomination being created in 2006 (Cars was the first winner). None of them won.

Why are using award shows when they hate aniamted movies?
My impressions, going left to right, top to bottom. >Rip off of a great film >Looks like a classic mediocre kids TV show >Straight from children's youtube >Have heard good things about it, should watch it >Obvious cash-grab idea. No idea who besides parents of 3-8 year olds would watch this. >GOAT >Have heard good things about it >Looks cute >Outstanding movie but too many sequels >I guess the new-age remake of the other dragon movie >Looks like an ad for one of those Clash of Clans rip-off games >The female version of the dragon movie >Looks like an Adult Swim cartoon >Weirdly colored Smurfs?
There is something fundamentally flawed about this storyline that prevents it from being an enjoyable and fun storyline (despite comedy films being supposed to have enjoyable and fun storylines)
Lack of a strict design philosophy and hierarchy of influence
It's a double edged sword

Stop pretending to clutch your pearls you fake c**t
Variety is the spice of kino
The frick is that gay black catgirl at the top and those CalArts duck things?
The second kung fu Panda film has a disaster of a script.

Hate is a wrong word. They just don't believe they are equal to the real movies
They disregard them, so why should I take their opinions seriously?
You shouldn't. Look up the leaked Oscar votes for the animation category, they talk about it with genuine disdain in their submissions.

This is a big step backwards from Antz and Shrek. Unlike those previous films, this one is tedious to rewatch.

I swear, the way that internet talks about this film makes it sound like it's a genius Hot Fuzz tier comedy. It really isn't.
Isn't the same company with degeneracy levels high enough to pair a bee with a human?
Idk but they need to make new IPs like, they can't keep milking KFP and HTTYD
Fricking casual here, which ones are the best?
It's kind of like they alternate. Make a decent movie, then make a shit movie, then make a decent movie, follow up with a shit movie.
